Teen Titans: Raven | 
so-soMmmmmeh. I didn't want this to be meh, but that is my overall impression. Maybe if I was in the target demographic, teens, I would have felt more invested. Too much high school drama. I've been a fan of limited colour palettes before, but this one left me cold. Didn't feel any particular way about the art style either. 🤷🏼♂️
so-soI remember being so DEVASTED when I got rejected for one of these books on Netgalley but NGL, it wasn't that good?? Maybe it gets better but the art here, esp when the characters powers are involved, feel very unmagical. I'm also confused if this is related to teen titans or its own thing. Makes me want to watch TTs!! And the black magic/calling of the ancestors reminded me of Legendborn, which I love. An underwhelming read but continuing
pickSo I‘m going to be very honest I don‘t know a lot about DC Comics and their character stories, I‘m more of a Marvel girl, but I honestly liked this graphic novel.
The way the author told Raven‘s story and keeps you interested was great, especially for how short it was. The plot develops at a fast pace and there isn‘t a whole lot of character development but for once I didn‘t mind it that much.
The art by Gabriel Picolo was just amazing!!

so-soI wanted more. I‘m honestly not sure what was missing, maybe it was too short, but to me it didn‘t connect as well as the other DC INK works. And maybe it‘s because I don‘t really know or follow anything Raven. I did love the concept of her story and the art and colouring were beautiful, but something just fell short.

pickA simple young retelling of Raven of her coming into her powers. It‘s full of voodoo magic (which I loved) and love and angst, a lot of that haha. The art is what I enjoyed most though, I have followed Gabriel Picolo‘s art for years!
pickRaven has always been one of my favorite characters in the DC Universe, and this book makes me love her even more. 😍
This is a coming of age story and we get to see Raven discover who she is and where she comes from. The artwork is gorgeous too!
Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo also have a graphic novel about Beast Boy coming out in September and I'm excited to read it too.

Good week! I finished Heart of Iron and Rilla of Ingleside. I finished Lock In on audio and also the novella, Unlocked. Then, I read the most recent Jessica Jones trilogy. (The first book is for the Owls). And, I also read Batman Earth One - Volume 1 and Teen Titans: Raven.
pickSince watching the Titans show on Netflix, I'm absolutely obsessed with Raven. This graphic novel did not disappoint, the storyline and art was soo good, and it turns out me and Raven have a lot in common 😂 Totally reccomend for anyone who likes Teen Titans, DC, or gothic angsty graphic novels.

pickCan‘t begin to express how excited I was to find that one of my libraries on Overdrive has an extensive graphic novel selection, which I can apparently read with my Kindle app. Score!!! This first installment of the Teen Titans books was fun. Admittedly, I know very little about the Teen Titans (other than what my kid used to watch on CN). I look forward to future adventures in the series.
I‘m loving these origin stories for DC characters. I‘m new to Raven, but as soon as I saw her narwhal pajama pants I decided that I‘m in it for the long haul! She‘s awesome.

pickSlightly different take on how Raven figures out her father is the demon Trigon. Protected by her aunt and cousin, who are amazing, after her mom died, she tries to get through high school. I remember those years. Her mental battle with Trigon in her head and “sharing” his power over her body, to this point in the picture, was powerful to watch. I love Raven so much

pickI‘ve loved Teen Titans since I was a kid, so I was really excited for this graphic novel. The story was interesting and enjoyable. But more importantly, Gabriel Picolo illustrated it! I love his interpretation of the Teen Titans and have been following his art for a few years now. He did such a wonderful job! Can‘t wait for Beast Boy next year!

The illustrations are also very like watercolor kind of, but sometimes full color and I wonder what inspired Gabriel to do them that way. Raven is by far my favorite, so I was excited for this, my introduction to the darker Teen Titans. I loved the New Orleans slant to Raven‘s origin story. Stunning artwork and coloring, too. Can‘t wait for the Beast Boy installment next summer! Next up, The New Teen Titans Volume 1 so I can get a proper handle on the whole story.
#TBR | Adding Teen Titans: Beast Boy to my TBR list! Despite my disappointment with most of the DC Ink storylines, I'm determined to find one that'll appeal to me, that I'll connect to. Hoping BB will be just what I'm looking for. But I'll have to wait 'til 2020 to find out.

pick4⭐️ This is a solid introduction to the character Raven in the Teen Titans universe. The reader starts about befuddled and confused, but I believe that is intentional, because Raven has lost her memories. She is in a new home, with new family, and no idea what her life used to be like. All she knows is she can hear other people, and cause the bitchy cheerleader harm just by thinking about it. This book serves as an introduction to Teen titans.
