Another silly but enjoyable adventure with Nancy and Co. This time they‘re solving a 300-year-old family mystery in Peru, and along the way defeating a sinister smuggler known as El Gato. Problems with Spanish translations were very irritating.

43 complete for #NancyDrewChallenge and last for the year (kiddo has decreed we will finish series regardless); third finish for #24B42020. @Andrew65 @jb72 @TheReadingMermaid

Andrew65 Years since I read a Nancy Drew! 43! 😳🤩🙌 (edited) 5y

Forgot to add this the other day: 42 down for #nancydrewchallenge! We won‘t finish, but the kiddo has decreed we will continue through the series into next year. Since we actually started at the end of last year (I reread the first six in January) it‘s all good. And our rate has certainly been respectable!

Another crazy adventure for Nancy and the girls, this time in France. Alchemy, thieves on stilts, international conspiracies, the usual.

Sace Oooo.... I can't wait to get to this one! (I've been reading my way through Nancy Drew for years 🙄) 5y
ravenlee @Sace this one certainly tested my French accent ability (only successful insofar as I‘m channeling Kevin Kline in French Kiss 😆). 5y

Are you a fan of Data from the Goonie, or Inspector Gadget? Did you wish they have more brainy female characters? Girl do I have the book for you. Luella just wants her parents to understand her. She has DNA that can be changed by a toxic cloud and it is the last thing she wants to happen. And she is so smart. She could probably teach Tony Stark a thing or two. ⬇

LibrarianRyan And while at 9 she is a little scrawny to go head to head with the Hulk, her Devil Dinosaur is more than up to the challenge.

This is a kick off to a girl power marvel adventure that says smart is AWESOME. Saving your self is AWESOME, and saving everyone else is... Well it has to be done. This graphic novel has the laughs a middle grade student would want, action, comedy, plus a storyline that won't have adults talking about “kid stuff”.

LibrarianRyan Now if this reviewer was sitting in english class they could make the argument that this is an allegory about not wanting to become a “woman” or the changes that happen as girls grow older. It‘s in there, it can be seen, but who cares. This is just a fun read and I can not wait to grab book 2.

41 done for #nancydrewchallenge and we‘re struggling during this busy season.

Nancy and the girls find not one but two mysteries to solve during a visit to Emerson to see Ned, Burt, and Dave. A phantom thief has been sneaking into a locked room, but how? And what happened to the treasure from a sunken riverboat? Nancy is on the job!

This was really cute. Best book of the year cute...No, but still a fun enjoyable read. I love the colors the illustrator uses and the author‘s way of making the child in the story talk to the reader and to the dragon.

This is a dragon (who look like dinosaurs) fantasy about a kingdom where the princess daughter has to marry and consummate the marriage to her father in order to pass power to the next ruler. Uuummmmm UGHHHHHH.

I will not be recommending this to friends, however, the artwork was amazing, and I can not wait to see what the author comes up with next.

38 down for #nancydrewchallenge - unlikely we‘ll finish the whole series this year but we‘re plugging along.

A life-size dancing puppet is plaguing an amateur theater troupe, and Nancy steps in to unravel this tangled mystery. As usual, several seemingly-unrelated threads come together and Nancy sorts everything out.

Hooked_on_books You‘ll be very disappointed in me. At the recent library book sale, there was a whole box full of old Nancy Drews in great condition and I didn‘t buy a single one. 😯 5y
Hooked_on_books I know 😔 😆 5y
Sace @Hooked_on_books I'll second that "what?!" ? 5y

This graphic novel is supposed to be a modern retelling of Jane Eyre. I found myself intrigued by the story, and with more questions than answers. I thought the ending was lacking. I am sure it comes close to the original story, but to me it seemed too soap opera. It‘s been done a million times in other stories in other ways. Overall, a great read, but it needed more.

It was just okay. I am not sure I would consider this a GN. I think of it more as a fully illustrated collection since little to no speech or thought bubbles were used. Some of the stories like the Mask of the Red Death were so paired down, it took it‘s soul away, while others, we just too long winded (I‘m looking at you Tell Tale Heart).
