Never in my life until now did I know how Ethiopia and it's people got their name until I read this book. 😠

I'm half way in, and zelie and Amari are arguing every page
Zelie is horrible to Amari, and also letting her anger cloud her judgment
There sure is a lot of vengeance going on in the book lol.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like Zelie. She's so annoying.

I enjoyed this twisted tale of Mulan. Mulan travels to the underworld to stop Shang from dying. The adventure Mulan, Shang, and Shang's guardian took was wrapped in chinese mythology and I appreciated it a lot!
The beginning was slow to start, but once Mulan got to the underworld, it picked up; and it was hard for me to stop reading. I thought the book tired the movie in well. I was upset Mushu wasn't along for the ride but by the end; it was ok.
I didn't too much enjoy the first installment, but I loved Amari and Tzain. I hope this doesn't ruin them for me.

Such a beautiful cover.

A Dream So Dark is better than the 1st, but only by a little. I could tell the writing had gotten better but the development of the story did not. At first I enjoyed the Japanese and Anime references but it became cringeworthy when they were over used. Especially when it was used a lot during the first book. By the end of the book we didn't know who the bad girl was and we spent the whole book in confusion as to who she was in the first place.
I said I wouldn't read A Dream So Dark after Reading A Blade So Dark. The first installment was so so so bad, but I curious and maybe this one will be better.

I'm only 3% in, and I'm already loving it.

I didn't like this retelling of Alice in Wonderland, but I didn't hate it either. It was just okay; It wasn't as dark as what I wanted it to be. Some of the names are outlandish, like Vanella, pronounced vanilla. There was a kidnapping and some scenes that were just so silly. I was disappointed I read the whole book and one thing wasn't answered that I think was kind of a big thing, but maybe it'll be in the next book.
Starting January 1st 7 chapters in!!

I don't know how I feel about this book. I thought it would be about Jay-Z; which it was, but it was mostly about America, and how it shaped Jay-Z. Hence: made in America part. Other people were mentioned in the book as well, like Biggie, Nas, LeBron James and MLK. Some at great length, which I don't think I liked too much.
I think Jay-Z: Made in America is a book I'll come back to visit without any expectations and I'm might enjoy it more.
Going to finish out the year with Jay-Z: Made in America
This is an unpopular opinion, but I didn't like this book.
Zelie the protagonist, wasn't what I thought she would be. She was supposed to be the hero, but wasn't heroic to me. I didn't feel much character growth from her. I enjoyed Amari, the princess, so much; she showed up & out, & had the most character growth. Tzain, Zelie's brother was also a good character, and I felt he needed a bigger presence in the book. Inan, the princes was horrible!
Okay. So about a few months ago I finished The Fellowship of the Ring, and I was quite surprised Gandalf died! As much as I've heard about this character and knowing there would be two more parts, I wasn't expecting that at all.
Does he come back to life? You can tell me, I won't be upset lol.

Finished The Institute and I'm off to catch up with the crew...
I love this book!
And that's all I can say because I'm not really good at book reviews lol.
my review from Goodreads:
I gave Along Came a Spider 4 stars mostly because the main story , in my opinion was really good! If I didn't focus on it then, maybe this would have gotten a 3! The relationship and love scenes between Cross and Jezzie were unbelievable and made me cringe.

Saturday's Audiobook: Narrative of the Life of Frederi Douglass.

Reading a new release, which is something I never do. I tend to wait until the "hype" dies down, but I couldn't wait for this one.

Just finished this, and it was just okay. Just a story to read, nothing profound, or scary (no a horror book anyway)..
Not enough information to really care about the characters.

With reading this for the first time, I can definitely see how oeo would find it boring! There are some really great parts, and also some really dull ones. It took me longer than I expected to read this, but I finished it feeling accomplished and happy!
Off to the second part!!!

There's really no need to give a review
I never read The Lord of the Rings! First one is about 80% done! So far really enjoying it!

Teen Titans: Raven is a fun and fast read!
I do think it starts off slow, but by the end, it had picked up.
I'm excited to read the next installment with Beast Boy.

Ugh, I challenged myself to read 3 books last month, but I was definitely too busy to read that many books. I didn't even get the chance to read one!!! But my friend is reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X so I decided to read it with her. I'll get back to the other books, but, right now, I'm really enjoying Malcolm X
"[...] I come from an old school of thought. I think that men ought to treat women like something other than just shorter, weaker men with breasts.". ????
Two chapters in and he described two women with the word cheerleader lol. #librarybook #stormfront
I know there are a billion books in this series. I'm kinda hoping I don't like this. I don't think I'm truly ready to go down this wormhole. #books #stormfront #librarybook
I plan to read 1984, The Knife of Never Letting Go, and something that I pick from the library this month. Wish me luck ...lol
I didn't know "She Would be King" was historical fiction about Liberia when I first started reading, and ended up being pleasantly surprised. I loved Norman Aragon, June Dey, and especially Gbessa. I wanted them to win; to get through all hurdles that came their way. This is a book I'd come back to.
I wanted to read this because I thought the title was dope... I didn't know what I was about to get into, and it's been a pleasant surprise. When I have time to read, I have a hard time putting it down.

I was excited for this retelling of Alice in Wonderland with a black girl as Alice, but it didn't live up to what it could've been. The prologue was fun! I loved the Sailor Moon reference, but as I continue to read, they kept popping up and I became annoyed. I couldn't tell if this was written for today's teens or for the millenniums. Wonderland was lackluster; not enough description. Which was really disappointing BECAUSE ITS WONDERLAND

Saturday Reads!
A Blade so Black
Almost finish. It's been hard for me to read this one, so I switched to audio.
I'm still tugging along. 15 year old me would love this book. The Sailor Moon refs are gold though...
"your pretty much a Black Buffy."
.
.
Huh? Just because you did a few tuck and rolls doesn't mean you're Buffy !!! Lol.
??
witches and magic, it seems like it's always a win. Lol
" even when you're careful, even when you play by the rules, it might not be enough. Gotta go the extra mile out here."
In regards to black magic.
" once you go black, you never go back." ? Lol
She did exactly what she said she wasn't gonna going to do....LOL!!!
“Can you tell me what you saw when you walked in my office this afternoon?” I gaped. “You want me to describe the scene. In detail?” [...] “So you can work on your cover story? Sorry, Kane, but seeing you lying on your back with Lailah straddling you and savaging your body with her mouth pretty much means you‘re screwed in the excuses department.
Is anyone into Archie Horror?? I love Sabrina and starting this tonight!! #comics #goodnight
I wanted to read something fun and quick.. ApocalypticGirl was so boring! It literally took me days to finished a 100 page comic...the relationship between her and the cat was cute , but other than that, it's really not worth reading. #sundayreads
