This book was so bad. I wish I had dropped it after 100 pages instead of wasting my time. The whole “I want you, but I can‘t” romance was so repetitive, and I thought this was going to be about ghosts, not zombies…even though they never quite came out and called them that. Bummer dude.

Jujutsu Kaisen is easily in my TOP 3 anime. Now I read Zero and still amazing.

Such a sweet start to a romance. She has to deal with an inferior complex stemming from her abusive family. He does not like the fake attention he receives from females.

I tried manga tonight because my Chaya reads it. I was pleased. My only whine is that I couldn't manipulate the font/page from my Kindle so I could read it. Which has nothing to do with the author's work or the illustrations.

This was unexpected and that‘s great I really enjoy reading something different. While it‘s not something I normally read it was worth it. The characters and storyline was easy to read.

The Haunting of Velkwood | Gwendolyn Kiste

Mehso-so

Ughhhh. This had so much potential. Talitha Velkwood still reeling from a tragic event 20 yrs ago gets an offer to go back to her haunted street she left. That piece of haunted street that exists in its own reality separate from our own. One only Talitha and 2 other girls can enter. It could have used more characterization, I‘m not a fan of going back and forth between places where nothing really happens or gets moved forward. I did like her 👇🏼

Reggie writing ability to write about and around something without giving it away but that got old real quick. I would like a lesbian to tell me what they think about this book. Loved the ending but didn‘t enjoy the journey. Mehhh 3d
sarahbarnes This definitely sounds intriguing. Sorry it sounds like it fell short for you. 3d
Reggie @sarahbarnes AND it won the Bram Stoker award for best novel this year!!! thank you, Sarah. 3d

LeahBergen Oh, too bad! 3d
Suet624 It‘s even more disappointing considering it won the award for this year. 2d
Reggie @LeahBergen it probably didn‘t help that I listened on audio and the girl reading it was fully embodying the character sounding depressed and on Xanax or something. And it was a bright sunshine day and I‘m on vacation. But rainy day Reggie still would have thought meh. lol 2d
Reggie @Suet624 sometimes Denzel wins the Oscar when you want it to go to Russel and sometimes Russell wins the Oscar‘s when you want it to go to Denzel. 🤷🏽‍♂️ 2d
Centique I love your comment about what rainy day Reggie would have thought 😝 2d

In a Glass Darkly | Sheridan Le Fanu

Le Fanu ♥️ “Green Tea” is my favorite— books & pots of tea leading to more awareness than sanity can contain intrigues me (obv.).

& Dr. H‘s hypothesis about the metaphysical matter is pure Victorian science, akin to adding a bit about quantum physics to a story today.

Mesmerism was a very real at the time this was published. The relationship between physical & mental ambiguous. Stories on the border between paranormal & mystery are so thrilling!

There is a customary style from Jodi Taylor here, a confidence that whatever slightly odd thing is happening on the page it‘s well thought through and going to be fine and as such it was an engaging read. Missing for me however was a real strong MC Elizabeth Cage I despite her interesting skills seems bland and not all that easy torture for. That said I am sure i will keep reading !

The Haunting of Hill House | Shirley Jackson

One of these books I've heard so much about, but never read it. Until now. And oh, how I loved this eerie atmosphere. I guess Hill House got me too, at least I was reading it while in a stadium waiting for the game to begin. The tension is building up very slowly, but it getting more and more intense. I especially loved how the feelings between the characters are changing and changing and ever changing.

JenlovesJT47 Ooh have you seen the show?? It is fabulous!! ♥️♥️♥️ 5d
AnnCrystal I agree @JenlovesJT47

The Haunting of Hill House 2018 mini-series is incredible. It's actually the first of the Hill House adaptations that I really liked (never really cared for The Haunting movies 1963 or 1999). The 2018 was fantastic.

🎬💝.

TheLudicReader I agree, the series is as creepy as heck. 5d
Jari-chan @TheLudicReader Ok, I think I really need to watch that! 5d
AnnCrystal The 1963 and 1999 movies are based off the book...at least I assume, because I haven't read the book 👀. The 2018 series is based at the house, but the storyline is about a family who moves in to try and flip it. (edited) 5d
Jari-chan @AnnCrystal Oh, interesting. So it's only loosely based on the book? 5d
AnnCrystal @Jari-chan correct. I believe there are some things pulled from the book...like the house, the caretakers, and perhaps some other small details and dialogue. I've read that the 1969 movie was the most accurate adaptation.

🎬💝.

Needful Things | Stephen King

4½✨

The thing with King is, it's all been said before. He is a master storyteller, and Needful Things shows it yet again.
Fiction weaved through with everyday truths that makes you go: 'this might actually just happen'
People will do just about anything for what they feel they need and deserve in life; even the honest will be blinded by what they think they need. King obviously took this to a whole new level, like only he can.

My 1st finished book for July was Spirits, Stilettos and a Silver Bustier by Deanna Chase. I finally got around to starting this spin-off series from her Jade Calhoun series. It was a good start to the series but i think the next ones will be better. The series focuses on Jade's friend Pyper Rayne. She owns a coffee shop and is also a medium.

(continued in comment)

RedxoHearts So she often has ghosts reach out but this time it gets her in a bit of a dangerous situation as well as on the police radar for the murder of a local shop owner. There is also romance on the horizon for Pyper even if it's not in the most traditional sense. 1w
