Every Last Lie (Original)
Every Last Lie (Original) | Mary Kubica
A widow's pursuit of the truth leads her to the darkest corners of the psyche in this exhilarating thriller from New York Times bestselling author Mary KubicaClara Solberg's world shatters when her husband and their four-year-old daughter are in a car crash, killing Nick while Maisie is remarkably unharmed. The crash is ruled an accident...until the coming days, when Maisie starts having night terrors that make Clara question what really happened on that fateful afternoon. Who would have wanted Nick dead? And why? Clara will stop at nothing to find out--and the truth is only the beginning of this twisted tale of secrets and deceit.Told in the alternating perspectives of Clara's investigation and Nick's last months leading up to the crash, master of suspense Mary Kubica weaves her most chilling thriller to date--one that explores the dark recesses of a mind plagued by grief and shows that some secrets might be better left buried.

Listened to this one with my husband while traveling this weekend. We both enjoyed it but agreed we‘ve enjoyed others from Kubica more. Still, it was nice listening together.

Today‘s Prompt: MADDENING

Another good one you won‘t want to miss.

Clara was an ANNOYING/MADDENING character for me because she had no clue about what was going on in her household, and her parenting skills were awful.

EVERY LAST LIE is a suspenseful, attention-grabbing read from the opening lines.

I found this book to be easily forgotten and boring.

MySharonaK Have you read a novel by this author that was good? Cause I wasn‘t too impressed with her 4y
Tattooedteacher @MySharonaK I had recently finished The Other Mrs. and liked it. That‘s why I picked another one. Won‘t anymore. 4y
MySharonaK @Tattooedteacher yes I feel that it‘s not really worth it. Maybe the series they are developing for The Other Mrs. would be interesting though 4y

Today‘s Prompt: BELIEVE

Clara couldn't believe her husband was talking on the phone while driving, driving too fast around a curve when he had their daughter in the car, and having an affair.

Marvelous from the first word to the last.

Ms. Kubica‘s books are always suspenseful and have attention-grabbing opening lines.

Ugh.
Surprise! If you act like an idiot, make terrible life decisions, and keep secrets from your spouse things get bad and over-dramatic. 😒

3-3.5 stars. This was suspenseful, but not surprising. Despite the annoying main character‘s quick jump to suspect anyone and everyone of her husband‘s murder, Occam‘s Razor is applicable here and the most logical explanation turns out to be right... I finished it in a day and a half so there‘s that, but I definitely enjoyed some of her other books more, including her newest - The Other Mrs!

Over the past few years, I have realized Mary kubica is one of my favorite authors and this book just reiterated that even more! What a rollercoaster of emotions! I just finished and I‘m still trying to process! So suspenseful, but not too slow paced or too fast paced! I honestly did not see the ending coming and you either love it or hate it and I loved it!

I think this may be the first fiction audiobook I ever finished, thanks to my new audiowalk and a little inside listening as well. This started out strong but unfortunately disappointed me by the time it ended. It was enough, however, to get me out to do my #LitsyWalkers audiowalk Day5 (I think it‘s day 5🧐)

Kaye Good for you Missy ! Maybe you‘ll find another audio you like better for your next one. 5 days in a row. You‘ve got this ! 6y

Meh. 🤷🏽‍♀️ that‘s how I feel about this book.

I don‘t think I was in the right mood to appreciate what was going on in this book. I found myself skimming paragraphs that were repetitive. I was very tempted just to read the last two chapters to know what happened.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Told in alternating perspectives of Clara in the present day, and Nick leading up to the accident, Every Last Lie accelerates in pace and suspense, but ultimately it stalls a little at the end. Unfortunately with this ending, Kubica negates all of the suspense and build up she so masterfully weaves throughout. That being said, I would still recommend this book as well as Don't You Cry and The Good Girl.

Standalone, psychological thriller - tale of marriage & secrets. Clara world shatters - her husband and 4 year old daughter are in a car crash, killing Nick, Maisie unharmed. Clara searches for answers which take her to dark places she would never want to go. Suspenseful page-turner, twists and turns you don't see coming. Kubica's books are addictive as the ending you expect is not what you get. Recommend to those who like psychological thrillers.

#TBRtemptation post 5! Clara's world turns upside-down when her husband, Nick, dies in a car crash. Their 4-year-old daughter, Maisie, was unharmed, though has night terrors afterward that get Clara thinking that the crash may not have been an accident. Her search for answers will lead to secrets, deceit, and and further collapse of the life that her and Nick had built together. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

I did enjoy this page-turner of a read, but I don‘t consider it to be a thriller. It was actually an examination of a woman's journey through the many stages of grief. It was also an exploration of how keeping secrets can affect a relationship. My main issue with it was my frustration with the characters & their lack of good judgement. I vehemently disagreed with many of the choices they made, especially with the ones that involved young children.

JoeStalksBeck Yeah this one wasn't as good as her others 7y

Having read all of Mary Kubica‘s books, this is my least favorite. It was a decent read, but I found Clara annoying and naive pretty quickly. For me, the level of suspense was minimal and I wasn‘t hanging onto the edge of seat.
