Binged 4 hrs of this today while organizing the house. After watching Hocus Pocus 2 last night, I was in the mood for more Contemporary Salem YA content 🐈⬛ Love that the author has actual Salem trial ties too!
Kinda meh, but still a nice distraction from the week.
I visited Salem this past summer and I picked up this book as a souvenir. It was a cute story about ghosts, witches, and magic.

Really loved this ghosty story. I was just disappointed that there weren't more in the series than just the two books.
Book 123🎧
Absolutely loved this one!🖤 I love how much actual witch trial information was weaved into it and the fact that the author is actually related to descendants. She highlights how this story is a mirror to modern day bullying and how we just need to break the cycle🖤👏🏻
When Sams dad goes into a coma, her step mother and her move to her fathers home town… Salem. But not everyone is excited for the Mathers to be back…
I enjoyed this story, full of witches and spirits and curses ✨
Interesting modern take on the Salem Witch Trials
I enjoyed this cheesy YA story immensely. I was all the way bought in. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My physical bookshelves are overflowing and I want to Marie Kondo them a bit.
So, I‘m posting #abookaday of my “maybes” and I hope you can help me decide.
Have you read this book? Should I? ❤️ or a hard pass? Is it on your wish list? Let me know below.
How interesting is the actual #salemwitchtrials history. I love that this novel was inspired by the author's infamous relative and the role he played in the tragic events. 🧙🌻🏫🌙🕯✒⚖
I'm only one page into this new book and I already know I'm going to like this character! #funnyquote 🤣
I love how she weaves fiction into a real family tree. The story was well thought out and well written. I didn‘t expect it to be as good as it actually was tbh. I would give it 5/5.
This was a really interesting book. The author creates a work of fiction while also drawing on her own family roots based on being one of Cotton Mather's descendants. She parallels the Salem Witch Trials to modern day bullying in high school while also weaving in a some ghosts and modern day witches. It was fun and suspenseful, with likeable characters, witty dialogue, and plenty of action. I enjoyed this one so much I already bought the sequel!
This book reminded me of The Craft and Mean Girls, but it was also original. I liked Samantha (Sam) from the beginning, and I‘m a sucker for books with a cute teenage boy ghost (Mediator series by Meg Cabot). I was glad I owned both “How to Hang a Witch” and “Haunting the Deep” so I could move on to the sequel.
Not gonna lie, I‘m a little jealous of Adriana Mather for having a family so steeped in history and artifacts and records to prove it.
Love my #AllHallowsReadSwap package! This book sounds good and I can't wait to read it. The candle smells amazing. It's the perfect scent for curling up on a fall day with a comfy blanket, tea, and a book (maybe my plan for the weekend?)
🎃☕📖🧡
@Judybskt Thank You!! 🧡🧡
I really enjoyed the characters and the story in this one. I wish there was more, but, lucky me, there‘s a sequel! It‘s kind of funny that the book has water droplets dripping on the cover and I managed to get it water damaged it before I even read it. Witchcraft, perhaps?!
Today's book recommendations theme is books about #Witches 🖤
⭐⭐⭐
I am still struggling with the June #doublespin but by gum I've got the July one done. I owe it all to audio and fluff.
The subject matter is "serious", but this was essentially fluff. As far as YA goes not the strongest, but not the worst either.
This is my only #CYOReadathon finish so far... (because I've read so little the past five days I'm just counting the whole time as Readathon time.)
It's just a YA book, but a character just noted that the the first 3 people accused of witchcraft were an invalid, a homeless person and a servant. In context the discussion was that no one spoke up for them. So I kind of side eye anyone in a position of power railing about witch hunts.
I love this book! The plot was so good and completely unpredictable, the character development was so good and the romance was so sweet. I loved the world building and the constant eerie feel to the book, I cannot reccomend this enough, and I need the second book right now!
Starting this one now, the sequel looks amazing so I cannot wait to delve into this world of witches and mystery!
Despite taking me way longer than it should have to finish this, (thanks to lack of reading time), this was SO good, if not nearly perfect. Witches, ghost, witchcraft, history, complex characters....oh, where to start! Love how the author was inspired by her own family history, too. Also, yet another ghost ends up becoming one of my”book boyfriends”. Guess I have a “thing” for literary ghosts 😂
I‘m totally feeling this bookmark tonight! “How To Hang A Witch” is 100 kinds of awesome! Love when the bookmark I pick ends up “matching” my book ♥️
Black Friday #bookhaul from Books-A-Million. The prices. OMG 😻😻😻
A well crafted story by a descendant of Cotton Mather, who is also the magic character in the book, of the Salem Witch Trials and their modern day effect. Sam Mather finds herself in Salem, after her father goes into a coma, and discovers a link to between deaths of descendants of the families involved in the trials. She makes a tenuous alliance with members of witch descendants after realizing they're all in danger. *more below*
Got this out of the library & it's painfully YA. Kind of like Twilight but with witches. I was interested because the author is a descendant of Cotton Mather, as is her main character 🙄, but after 5 chapters I'm not sure I'll make it all the way through.
Thank you @Ferskner for such a lovely box! So many great books to read! That book cover is awesome!

1. Tagged book, although there‘s actually a lot more that come to mind.
2. Ghostbusters
3. Also, Ghostbusters 😜
#ManicMonday @JoScho
Loved this! Not sure why I waited so long to read it. I enjoyed it very much.
I‘ve had this for a while. Looks like a good read. Perfect for Halloween. 🎃🍁
Salem, witches, ghosts, and a curse! This is a fun YA book and I enjoyed every minute of it. There is a lot of history in this book and it was written by a descendant of Cotton Mather. I immediately started the second one after finishing it. Great book to read in October.
#witches #spooktober
I would have lost my mind for this book when I was a teenager. Salem witches, mean girl high school drama, hidden passages, ghosts, a bit of romance...it has everything teen Ann (and adult Ann) love. #screamathon @4thhouseontheleft
This was much better than I expected it to be! Some definite YA tropes, but the writing was solid, and the plot made it hard to put down. Great for this time of year, witches and curses and ghosts, oh my! A real page turner and good witchy fun! I‘m looking forward to the sequel!
🖤🖤🖤🖤
I‘m lighting fall candles and reading on this chilly day. Nothing quite like a beautiful fall day! 🍁🍂🕯
I want to read all the witchy and spooky books this month! 🖤🎃👻
When Sam Mather moves to Salem the Descendents, a group of mean teens directly descended from the trial victims set out to make her life hell. She quickly learns that the past is not just the past & things are not what they seem. When people start dying the finger is pointed at Sam & mass hysteria ensues. History is repeating itself & this time a Mather will hang. Spooky, witchy and atmospheric!
+3 for #teamstoker #scarathlon @TheReadingMermaid
I am kind of the worst at planning a TBR because I am a mood reader but hoping to get to these and more fun spooky reads in October.

Here is my book haul from Goodwill and a few library books. I'm especially happy about finding Grim Lovies 👻
I have some thoughts about this one. It was very entertaining and I loved the bits of actually history thrown in. Witches and Salem and magic, what more could a girl ask for? However, it wasn't very well written. It was fairly cheesy at times. But I can absolutely overlook that because it was su h a fun read. I'd recommend this if you are looking for a fun, easy read during this spooky, witchy season.
I need a little light reading before I start the second book in the Kingkiller Chronicles. I've heard good things about this. Starting today. 😊
This was a fun, weekend read. A little bit of fantasy mixed in with some historical accuracy.
I dont read a lot of YA novels these days, but it was enjoyable.
