If I Stay by Gayle Forman was a lovely story about a girl who's never quite felt like she's belong. At it's heart, it's a story about tough decisions and the relationship between a girl and her relationships with her friends, family, etc. In theory, it was a great plot and lovely idea. But the execution felt basic and not quite very well thought out.

Both of the characters in this book are musical. Mia is a gifted cellist and her boyfriend Adam is in a rock group.

It bugged me. Best parts were the Oregon setting, and the main character‘s growth, but I just didn‘t like the concept that much, surprisingly. I wanted her to just wake up immediately, and do the real work, not just be in her head. Maybe teens would like it more.

I‘ve heard many good things about “If I Stay” but it didn‘t capture me. It got boring and wasn‘t very interesting. I had to bail :/

I found this to be heart breakingly beautiful. I decision that would be hard to make. Beautifully written.

Mias worst fear came to life as she had to choose between life or death. If I stay is written in first person from the point of view of Mias mind who lies unconscious in a hospital bed after being in a car accident, instantly killing both her parents and her younger brother teddy. The motif of switching being present and past reflects Mias main conflict: she can live with the pain of the present or stay in the past by joining her family in death.

After a devastating car crash, Mia has to make a choice on whether to stay or not.

I can't even describe it. The family bond was beautiful. The characters are amazing. A good and easy read. 🖤

Slowly cleaning our house and preparing for the next move which means taking another look at the bookshelves and the books I just know I‘m never going to make time for no matter my intentions for them originally. This is like the 6th box of books I‘ve gotten rid of so far and so much more to still look through 😂😭😭
Does anybody else have those books on your shelves, the ones you tell yourself you‘re going to read... eventually?

The book is about a teenage girl who gets into a bad accident with her family and she comes back it‘s like her shadow and she‘s trying to talk to people but they can‘t hear her. I actually really like this book and I love the movie. She a young girl that likes to play the violin and you see in the book that it shows her as a young kid playing the violin. And a symbol of the book I would say the care accident because it shows a lot of it.

That attached book and it‘s sequel has been in my mind since I read it. The subject matter bit me to the core and I honestly couldn‘t tell you what I would do if I was either main characters. #LitsyLove. @BayouGirl85 @Eggs @Bookwormjillk @Mishu94 y‘all up next!!!

Mia is 17 and in a horrific car crash that kills her parents. She doesn‘t know what happened to her brother and her spirit/soul is outside her body watching what is happening around and to her. Grievously injured, she has to decide whether to keep fighting or let herself die as she looks back on her life. I was driven crazy by a lot of the medicine being wrong, but it doesn‘t detract from the book, which is good but not great.

If I Stay wasn‘t terrible, and it wasn‘t great, but it was an adequate literary palette cleanser. I can‘t picture a situation where I‘d be pressing this book into somebody‘s hands and insisting they read it, but I wouldn‘t begrudge anyone their enjoyment of it either. So, take it or leave it. This was such an emotional book, I did watch the movie first, but I loved the book so much more. The author does such a good job with using the past and present to show us Mia's life, honestly I totally reccomend if you want a book that will make you cry and laugh or smile at the same time. The only thing is that I did know what was going to happen, even though I saw the movie first, I feel that I would have still predicted it.
