The story has the city of Thessaloniki as one of it's main characters, apart from Dimitri and Katerina and many other characters that are compassionate and kind. The people of irini street are just wow, and I loved all the aspects of kindness that is involved in the book. A heart warming read.
It's such an odd thing, the way you can know someone so perfectly through what they have read.
'And... winners earn a lot of money, which is also important, I assume? What do you do with yours?'
'I buy distance from other people.'
This book has been loved immensely, but it did not go too well with me. It is in my list of 'to be re-reading' and then let's see what happens of my opinion.

Tell me about the books that you've read thrice or more.
In most settings, people use small talk as a way of relaxing into new relationship, and only once they're comfortable do they connect more seriously. Sensitive people seems to do the reverse. They "enjoy small talk only after they've gone deep".
The book is gonna light all of you with it's warmth as you go on.
Ove, a man of principles, the one who don't tell the tales of what others do, the one who likes to be in control, the one who's life revolve around his wife, is a man you definitely gonna fall in love with.
(He) has never liked the feeling of losing control. He's come to realise over the years that it's this very feeling that normal folks like and strive for, but as far as Ove is concerned only a complete bloody airhead could find loss of control a state worth aiming for.
Some awesome kind of people!
Having roots no where, I have everywhere to go.
The sequel to the previous book. And this was also amazing. A very easy read. I had my root canal going on. So this was the book I read at the Dentists place. I finished it in 3 appointments 🙊. I am glad this is what happened with Mia and Adam.
I can't even describe it. The family bond was beautiful. The characters are amazing. A good and easy read. 🖤
This book taught me how we can be manipulated. How some sick person makes us feel unworthy, destroys our self-esteem and never, even realize it. Being emotionally healthy is important.
A good book.
Hollowness: that I understand. I am starting to believe that there isn't anything you can do to fix it. The holes in your life are permenant. You have to grow around them, like tree roots around concrete; you mould yourself through the gaps.
But he had been in love once, that he knew. Once and only once, and a long time ago. And it had changed him forever. Perfect love did that to a person, and this had been perfect.
Truly, an amazing ride on the train with all the passengers and Hercule Poirot.
Loved the book. Generally, this kinda books get on my mind and makes me gloomy. But this was nothing like that. And I loved the protagonist.
This book took me through the history of Afghanistan and how it has been destroyed. Had read about the Talibans, and them, destroying the archeological sites, but through the eyes of characters, all those were more heartbreaking. The two brave women, and the suffering they have undergone and the way it is portrayed, makes the book an unforgettable read.
Let the best time we spend be with ourself. Let having a company, hanging out with friends be the choice, not a necessity.
O past that has departed and is gone, I will not cry over you. You will not see me remembering you, not even for a moment, because you have travelled away from me never to return.
O future, you are in the realm of the unseen, so I not be obsessed by your dreams. I will not be preoccupied about what is to come because tomorrow is nothing and has not yet been created.
Today is my only day.
The book doesn't need my praise as it is praised enough already! But what I would say is, I liked the character of Atticus Finch. The way he has brought up his kids, and have instilled the goodness in them is fab. A beautiful story and beautifully portrayed. Seemed like everything was taking place before me and I had gone back in history and witnessed stuffs. Gave us a chance to peak in the society of a earlier century.
Got my hand on this. Have heard that this is really really a good book and a favorite one of many! Excited! 😍😍
You just have to sit with book in your hand, and time flies and page turns, and you become a character among Ashley, Toni and Alette.
Historical fictions are something that I can never get enough of.
A story that took place during the times of partition of 1947. It has never been a good phase of history. Two nations were formed but after enmity, hatred and anger were sown into the hearts of the people for each other who lived together for centuries. The portrayal of characters has been done in beautiful way. Loved the book over all.
I wish everyone was rich and famous so they would understand that, it's not the answer.
I finally finished reading this book. Though I took a long time, may be it was because of so many characters and their own stories that couldn't keep me as much hooked up to the book as other books generally do, but I still loved it.
I have really really thought about this. It is true. You will never regret being kind to people. But you do regret being unkind. So I have decided that I will be kind. No matter what. Being used, being a victim, being irritated is all okay. But not being kind is not okay. I don't want to be a person that may have played even a small role in making any individual's life miserable by simply being selfish and unkind.
The book is interesting as it is history but my bookmark is no less interesting too. 😉
Worth reading.
There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure
The wise men understood that this natural world is only an image and a copy of paradise. The existence of this world is simply a guarantee that there exists a world that is perfect. God created the world so that, through its visible objects, men could understand his spiritual teachings and the marvel of his wisdom.
