Last Chance Books | Kelsey Rodkey

Mehso-so

Last Chance Books is about a girl named Madeline Moore who dreams of running her familie's bookstore after college. However, that dream is cut short when their rent increases due to the “competition“ across the street.

In all honesty, this book really didn't do much for me. The beginning felt slow, the middle picked up a bit and then the ending was amazing- but it took a lot of trudging to get there. It was okay, but thats all it was. 3/5 Stars.

Pickpick

The One by Kierra Cass is the third in the selection series. It's about America finally admitting her love to Maxon and the progression of their relationship. Oh my god are the only words I can use, this was the absolute perfect story and while there were definitely aspects I didn't get right away- I couldn't imagine a better ending for the best series I have ever read on my reading journey so far. 5/5 Stars.

Why We Broke Up is a story following a girl post-break up giving back items her previous lover had given her.

For the topic of the story, this book didn't do much for me. The heartbreak felt even faker than the relationship felt, I didn't end up caring at all about any of the characters and after a while- they all ended up blending together.

Pickpick

The Elite is the sequel to The Selection by Kiera Cass. Here we follow America who tries to decipher her feelings between Aspin and Maxon.

This book was a complete rollercoaster, one minute I wanted to scream at the book and the next I was just as giddy as America. It really enchanted me, pulling me into the story and it's world- I wanted and still want to know everything about it, so much so that I'm putting the next book on hold as we speak.

Shatter Me is a story about a girl named Juliette who, in a world already seemingly falling apart, is burdened with the ability to kill whomever she touches.

Shatter Me was a very interesting book. At first, the intensity felt over-dramified, but as the story went on I started finding myself hooked on the world. Tahereh Mafi does a great job at making you question everyone and everything- as well as their intentions.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is a story surrounding a murder-suicide taking place 5 years back. We follow a highschool senior as she looks deeper into this case for her senior project, soon realizing that the case may not really be closed after all.

A Good Girl's Guide was such an amazing thriller/mystery. The plot was so well thought out and it really takes all the trust out of you. By page 20 I was already blaming everyone.

If I Stay | Gayle Forman

Mehso-so

If I Stay by Gayle Forman was a lovely story about a girl who's never quite felt like she's belong. At it's heart, it's a story about tough decisions and the relationship between a girl and her relationships with her friends, family, etc. In theory, it was a great plot and lovely idea. But the execution felt basic and not quite very well thought out.
