It‘s been a few years Litsy, I kept on reading-ish. This year has been the hardest of my life (so far). I lost some important people, the most important being my best friend. Best friend is such an inadequate way to describe our relationship. She was everything to me and I‘m so lost without her. Been in a self sabotage spiral since. 40 pages in and I have some hope that I‘ll make it through this unimaginable loss.

MaleficentBookDragon So sorry for your losses. I find Litsy a welcoming space, hopefully it can be that for you as well. 4w
Jas16 I am so deeply sorry for your loss. This has been an awful year for me and so many people I know. I can only hope we all get a better 2025. 4w

Starting this one. I‘ve slowly been getting into Garth Nix‘s books. This one caught my eye last weekend at a bookshop in Leavenworth, Washington.

Literary_Siren @mdm139 I liked it a lot more before the fire. They fixed it up really nice but I don‘t like that they put a coffee bar right in the middle of the store, or that there are more new books than used books. 2y

This 3rd installment in the City of Ghosts series was pretty suspenseful. My heart really goes out to Cassidy‘s friend, Lara. I absolutely love this MG series and I really hope Schwab continues with it.

Palimpsest I‘m waiting for book three to come in the mail! I think this series is fantastic. When I got City of Ghosts out of the library a couple of years ago I couldn‘t put it down until I finished it. I was bored by comparison with Addie LaRue even though that book is for adults and this for kids. Just my opinion. 4y
Literary_Siren @Palimpsest I had it preordered for my kindle and I may or may not have ordered OwlCrate‘s Bridge of Souls box. 😬 4y
Palimpsest @Literary_Siren haha! I‘ve only got one other OwlCrate box, but when I saw that was the junior box special with a signed book I had to get it too! That‘s what I‘m waiting for, but I know they were waiting for one more item before shipping. Not going to lie, I‘m super excited for it. This series is really special! 😊 4y

Have I mentioned how much I love this series yet?? The writing, world building and character development is amazing! Would you travel to the afterworld to save someone you love?

AudiobookingWithLeah I read the first book in this series so long ago, and I loved it. It took forever for the second book to come out...by the time it did, I think I just lost interest in it. At this point, I would have to start over with book #1, and I know I don't have the gumption to actually read books as long as these are. 4y
AudiobookingWithLeah Only the first two are on audio at this point, so I'm hesitant to start the series again when I don't know if she plans to have them made into audiobooks? 4y
Literary_Siren @AUDIOBOOKINGWITHLEAH I have no idea about the audiobooks but I didn‘t really notice how long they actually are because the story just draws you in. 4y

I absolutely LOVED this book! It sank its claws into me and wouldn‘t let me put it down! (It‘s 5:30am) This is the first book I‘ve read by this author and I‘m absolutely floored at how well it‘s written; I was freezing in those lifeboats, I heard the screams of the doomed, and I felt the silence as it crept across the water to the survivors in the boats.

This book was a little slower than the first two but no less suspenseful. Some people left the two main protagonists and they‘re on their way back to Winterbourne; which sounds like it‘s going to be a death trap after reading the synopsis of the fourth book.
