AmyG I had the same issue…I was reading everything on my ereader when I first got it and was getting headaches. Dr said read more physical books and a little bit on the ereader. Problem solved. 10mo

Megabooks @AmyG yes, I switched almost exclusively to print because I just couldn‘t do anymore screen time than usual life requires (and sometimes not even that much) during my 6-7 migraine days a month. It‘s unfortunate because I like the convenience of ereaders. Glad you were able to solve your problem too!! 10mo

Flaneurette @AmyG & @Megabooks this is so interesting because I am struggling to read a print book right now! The font is too small and I can‘t get the lighting right (first world problems I know!). That is a big bummer re headaches 10mo

AmyG @Flaneurette I wouldn‘t worry. I was pretty much the only person I knew who got headaches from ebooks until Megabooks. Odds are you will be fine just reading ebooks. 10mo

Nothing was grabbing my attention and then I found a book that sounds like it will be funny and it‘s called You Again? by Nick Spalding. It‘s about 2 exes who end up in the Maldives together and they‘re both dating new people.

NovelGirl82 @BookBabe It‘s so much faster than my previous paperwhite and I love that the screen is a bit bigger. (My eyes really appreciate that after 10 or so hours on my computer every day!) It still holds a really long charge like the original (maybe longer, honestly) and I really like the wireless charger on my nightstand. Also lots of memory for lots of books! I would say go for it! I did the 3mo free trial of #kindleunlimited and ended up really enjoying it since I can read via the Cloud Reader when at work. I can borrow digital books and print books from the library to read at work too, plus God knows I have a massive collection of both print and digital on my shelves at home. However, something about the #kindleunlimited option really appealed to me; so like a sucker I subscribed to a 1yr plan. Anyone else do this?

monkeygirlsmama I kinda feel like it's a waste of money since I can borrow books from the library at no cost, but there's something about the convenience of this. Plus I only paid for 1/2 of it out of pocket as I used my Christmas money from my grandma for the rest. Still though I feel, I dunno, weird about it. Is that in and of itself weird? lol 4y

As Ireland faces in the winter of no-craic I decided to invest in a Kindle oasis. Rather than using the app on my laptop and phone. In general going very well.

But defo designed for a man's hand.🤬 Too heavy to hold at side and up button not reachable from the corner. It is a ridiculously simple fix, if down button turned the page it would work for all hand sizes. Instead I'm going to have to get a grip aid for the back.

TheSpineView I have an Oasis and like it better than my old Paperwhite. My favorite feature is the tactile buttons. I guess you can call me old school. 😋 4y

MsMelissa I do. I like it, although wish my version had the warm light option (the current version has this). I prefer my Kobo Forma over any Kindle e-reader I‘ve had, but think the Oasis is my favourite version of the Kindle. 4y

CaroPi Is too bad they don't have the voyage anymore. Is the perfect e reader with a decent price. I recommend you to check the YouTube reviews to see if the upgrade is worth it. Also think in the ways you carry your kindle. The Oasis is a bit bigger and not everyone like that. 4y

Does anyone have a kids kindle? I just bought one for Gen for her birthday and helped myself to downloading books for her (bday isn‘t until 8/2.)

I know our school is currently struggling with how to sanitize books during covid, so I may even send it to school with her.

The ultimate factor in purchasing was the inclusion of a year of Amazon FreeTime. They offer a lot of great titles for free!

Emily92Bibliophile Those are some great books! I don‘t have one, but that is a great option to decrease the risk of germs with physical books. Does your school use Sora/ Libby/ overdrive for ebooks through the school library ? 4y

Reviewsbylola No, our school library doesn‘t currently use any type on online platform but I wouldn‘t be surprised if that changes ASAP. One of their teachers just told me they‘re looking at how to get books in multiple formats for the students so I‘m assuming that includes digital books. We shall see! @Emily92Bibliophile 4y

I am one of the librarian aides for my school district, and my head librarian ( also head of district) said we are definitely going to be increasing our ebooks as a district in the whole, especially in the HS ( where I work now). I highly recommend Sora. It‘s a student ebook app version of Libby, which is from the Overdrive company. They have great options for young children all the way up to HS. 4y

This is my review for a book that I borrowed for free from Kindle Unlimited. My 2 month free trial of Kindle Unlimited is almost over and I used it to read this 4 book series. I‘m going to be cancelling my free trial because I don‘t want to pay for it. I have until May 20 to keep using my free trial but I don‘t want to read anything else from Kindle Unlimited right now.

TheAromaofBooks I have a wishlist where I put all the KU books I'm interested in reading, and then once or twice a year I'll pay for it for a month and read everything on the list haha It isn't worth it for me to pay for it all the time and only read a book or two a month. 5y

I am thinking of getting this with Amazon vouchers that my mum will be giving me for my birthday, I have a Kindle fire but sometimes I just want to read my book rather than getting distracted by the Internet, emails and other stuff.

I would like your thoughts as to whether this is a good idea. I did have a Kindle like this but it broke and I replaced it with with a Kindle Fire. Thank you in advance for your help. 😘📚📖

TheAromaofBooks I used to get some eye strain when reading for long periods on my Fire, but when I switched to the Paperwhite, I don't notice any. The screen is different from a regular tablet screen, and I think it does make a difference. I felt a little foolish for buying a Paperwhite when I already owned a perfectly good Fire, but have had zero regrets!! 5y

FlowerFairy I have chronic migraines and have a difficult time reading on my phone or tablet for an extended period due to the lighting. I can read as long as I want on my paperwhite with no issues whatsoever and bonus - can fall asleep reading in the dark and don‘t have to turn out a table lamp. 😁 5y

Birdsong28 @TheAromaofBooks @FlowerFairy I do find it hard to concentrate on my fire and I think if I get this then I will read more on Kindle as it will feel like a book, I think my issue is that the fire feels like a tablet (I know that sounds stupid as it is one) so it will make a difference like you both said. I think I am also feeling foolish as my fire is still good, but I know that I will use it and like you have no regrets. 5y

JoScho This is going to be far superior in reading than the Fire. Reading on the Fire is like reading on the iPad-doable but not ideal. I have had several Kindles and couldn‘t imagine not having one. 5y

AlaMich First, I highly recommend a dedicated ereader. I have an Android tablet, a Fire and a Paperwhite but find that I am very distracted by all the other things you can do on a tablet. I almost never read on the tablets for that reason. 5y

AlaMich Second, if you do a lot of reading at night, you might want to consider the Kobo Clara. It‘s the same price but it has that warm, orangey light option for night reading that is much easier on your eyes, IMO. I have one and really like it. It also has Overdrive integration which is awesome, but I live in the US so it might be different for you. 5y

Cheshirecat913 I 100% prefer to read on my e-readers instead of the Fire. I recently just got the Kindle e-reader with a light and really like the light feature because now I can turn down the lights at home and it helps on those dark gloomy, days. 5y

I gifted myself a Kindle a few months ago, along with a subscription to Kindle Unlimited. I still have my print library books that I can‘t live without, but am finding myself using the Kindle more often. Anyone else experience the same?

TheEllieMo When I first got my Kindle, I used it almost exclusively, but after a while I started going back to physical books. Now my use depends on where I am and what I‘m doing. If I‘m on the move, I‘ll use the Kindle, but when I‘m at home or sitting in my favourite café, I prefer a physical book 5y

robinb I use both but probably my Kindle a bit more because I read a lot of ARCs from NetGalley. I like the portability of the Kindle but miss seeing the lovely colors of the covers (I have the Paperwhite...b&w). I also read at bedtime and find the Kindle easier because I'm not fighting to keep the pages open like I do with some new, stiff books. 5y

TheSpineView I really love my Kindle. I have a lot of physical books but I am running out of shelf space and I am starting to think of the environmental impact of all those books. 5y

If it is insomnia, it could be related with different factors like hormonal problems , stress, bad sleeping habits, diet or a combination of all these.I know there are many ways to manage it.I have it too and in my case is a combination of factors😳 I hope you can find a way to manage it. Sleep is so important, necessary to maintain your body in optimal functioning. 5y

Sarah83 @Gissy the more stress at work I have, the less I can sleep.. I can't deal with too much stress. When I was younger, I had problems with my stomach. In nowadays I can't sleep. For some time I could fix it with evening rituals, but the stress got worse within the last year. 5y

Oh over the last couple of months I have been having troubles with my eyes as in I can't see or make out words propley I have been to the opticians and got 2 pairs of glasses and I have a magnifying glass bookmark which helps a little but today I bought my first ever Kindle E - reader, it's a basic one nothing fancy but I have to admit defeat.

That-Bookish-Hiker The ebooks you end up loving you can still buy the paperback and just lovingly look at it and display them. That‘s what I do. I read alot on my kindle and when I love a book I buy the physical copy. I love staring at them in my bookshelves and I still get to smell them. 5y

tournevis I keep mine in Airplane Mode most of the time and choose when it syncs and updates. It saves on power too. Unless you read from several devices, there's no point in keeping on the wifi on all the time. 5y

rretzler This should make you feel better - I have 2,233 books and 435 docs on my Kindle-the docs are ARC and free books. Total on Kindle 2,668. I‘ve read about half of the 435 and I‘ll estimate about 25% of the books for a total of about 1,900 unread! (Some of those are cookbooks and other reference books). I read about 175 books per year and acquire many more, so who knows if I‘ll get them all read in my lifetime!🤣 5y

The_Literary_Jedi I went through my nook a few months ago and purged about 200 books. I think there‘s 150 on there now & I‘ve read 10 of them 🤷🏻‍♀️ Physical books (classroom & home) is in the 1,000‘s and I‘ve probably read 10%? But I keep buying! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 5y

I finally found a cover I like for by Kindle Oasis and it came yesterday. I am in love with my Oasis. I especially like the buttons on the right to advance or retreat a page. I also choose the 32 GB since I have a fair amount of audio books.

Ashley_Nicoletto Go to manage your content and devices. I have trouble finding it every time and have to google it. You should be able to find the title and remove/delete from device. 6y

julesG Just because you downloaded it to your kindle 4 times doesn't mean you bought it 4 times. In most cases you just have one "master copy" in your kindle account. Don't delete this by accident, you'd have to buy the book again. 6y

julesG Copies on your kindle can be deleted by holding the title of the book for a moment on your home screen, a menu will open that has something similar to "remove from device" at the bottom. 6y

This is going to be a long list! All of my Kindle books are from #NetGalley . Also, does anyone know how to actually delete an ebook from the kindle app? I‘ve “sent” an ebook to my kindle twice by accident, and don‘t know how to delete the duplicate. It still shows two copies, and my OCD is mildly freaking out.

Birdsong28 Go into your account on Amazon click on Your Account then click Content and devices then once on Content go into the Docs section then select the file(s) and then click on delete. This might help you as well @QueenJen 6y

This is just the saddest thing I‘ve ever seen. The screen on @drbethandherkindle ‘s kindle went out (not this badly though), so I gambled on this one from eBay to replace it. It looked fine when we took it out of the package, but the minute we woke it up, THIS happened. ⬆️. Big sigh. It looks worse than the one I replaced.

I‘ve recently joined Kindle Unlimited and I can‘t believe all the books they have available. I have an amazing 1200 (probably more with multiple editions) books between regular Kindle books and now the Kindle unlimited. Although it is mainly Kindle books. I can‘t imagine having to pack that much more 📚 🤣🤣🤣

I have been out ALL DAY! I‘m very tired but I got this stand for my kindle so I can read vertically. No more tired hand & reading while writing, eating, or drinking. (I didn‘t like reading horizontally, the only way my case can stand on its own) Only $2

Security almost didn't let me in to the Justin Timberlake concert, because I had my Kindle in my purse. (WTH? Is this a new policy I missed while I was living oversees?) The woman said, "I guess if you want to read, go ahead and read." Thank you for that and I did - there was plenty of time for reading between the acts. Has this every happened to any of y'all?
