This was so good. Very noir, very bleak. I'd been aware of the title but had no idea what it was about. I then went down a 1930s depression-era dance marathon rabbit hole 🤯

Enjoying Catalina today
When holiday shopping, I recommend a one for them, one for you system. These are the ones for me.
Traditional (mandatory) pret on the way to London
Finally getting to this blind date from Gladstones 2023 from @jenniferw88 . I'm enjoying it so far, Jenny. Reminds me a little of Joanna Harris books.
Spent the morning working at Los Angeles public library. Impressive rotunda action.
Some Hollywood-set horror/satire seemed appropriate for a trip to LA. My first by this author, I have high hopes based on Litsy reviews.
Fire's on #gladstones24
Ready for some reading this weekend #gladstones24
Summer's over, as illustrated by soggy dog.
I'm really enjoying this book though.
The perfect Shetland evening, with a book, a dram, and tiffin from a cake fridge (Shetland caked-based honesty box).
This hotel reminds me a bit of Gladstone's.
My mum is coming to dog sit for me, so I've prepared her a stack of books I think she'll like. Let's see if I can get her to read her second ever Stephen King (Billy Summers was a hit with her).
Love me a deckled edge
I've had such a good run of books lately. All The Colours of the Dark, Lula Dean's Little Library, The God of the Woods, and now this. What a good summer. Really enjoyed this one - I adored all the characters, especially Jinx. It's funny, and sweet, and a bit stressful. Recommended.
Following @TrishB 's recommendation and visiting this fabulous bookshop. That bookseller also gave me a lovely free tote (because between me, Mr Oryx and Mr Oryx's sister, we spent a hefty amount). Mr Oryx picked up some lovely kid's books for the nieces.
Took myself on a breakfast date today. Miss Daisy just out of shot.
I'm obsessed with this cover, so I had to buy a physical copy. Really looking forward to this based on Litsy reviews
Really great read. I loved the characters, and a really strong story.
It's very rare I get a Kindle book that's not on 99p offer. No regrets on spending full price on this one.
I'm very glad the internet wasn't available and social media didn't exist when I was at school. This is horrifying, and feels very real. I really like her writing style though, and flew through it.
Ditched the book I came with (kindle) to start this on the train home #blameitonsquirrelbrain @squirrelbrain @TrishB @youneverarrived
You can't see it, but the book pictured is "The Litten Path" .
@youneverarrived @TrishB @squirrelbrain
Would so much prefer this to still be a book stall. Why do you taunt me Manchester Victoria train station? @TrishB @squirrelbrain
I'm having the time of my life listening to the podcast Double Love on my walks, where they are rereading and recapping the Sweet Valley High series. With much sarcasm and snark - it makes me so happy.
I needed something light after All Fours...
Joining in the buddy reread with @Leniverse @scripturient @Caroline2 @MicheleinPhilly @RaeLovesToRead @TrishB (did I it get everyone right?)
She stole the only sunny spot.
Getting a head start on this for #camplitsy24 but also because I'm going to see her speak next week with @RaeLovesToRead
Love the book stamp you can get put in your books in Libreria London
Back to the fabulous Libreria as recommended to me by @squirrelbrain . I love it here - I love the categories they use for the books. No alphabetical order in here.
