A book based on New Orleans legends and lore, in New Orleans, by a New Orleans author? Yes, please. Her writing made me feel like I was there. I could picture the actual places in my head, and it made me want to go back immediately.

I loved this so much! Witches, Vampires and Werewolves in New Orleans, what‘s not to love?!
I love reading about New Orleans so this should be fun!
HOLY MOLY! I love that book set in Louisiana since I was born and raised there. It was fascinating read about places Adele went to & know where they are and what they look like. Adele's journey was an intricate pattern blending past and present that at times seemed to parallel perfectly. The history that Arden pulls into this spectacular story in wonderful. The mystery, suspense and bits of romance are a perfect cocktail.
I liked the premise and the setting and look forward to more.
I loved it because it has witchiness, superstition and history. It was fun, I could do without a love triangle though. The story stands fine on it's own without one.
I loved this book! It was a slow build to emphasize the setting. I usually get bored with books that do this but I appreciated it. I loved that it was fantasy mixed with a little mystery as well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very close to being 5 stars. I generally do not like books this long. This one took a while to get the story rolling....kinda dragged out in the beginning, and in other parts. Very unique story and the characters were well developed. Many twists and turns. It was woven masterfully. I wonder what will happen next!#bookstagram #bookworms #ilovereading #youngadult #ya #fantasy #bookblog #bookreview #thecasquettegirls #read #nola #thecasquettegirls

With witches, vampires, voodoo magic and pirates this book weaves a tapestry of New Orleans history and lore. When Adele returns home after a huge storm has devastated the city she finds an eerily quiet ruin of it's former self. As she rebuilds her life she discovers magic she didn't know she had and finds herself caught in a centuries old battle between witches & vamps that culminates on Halloween.

#LitsyPSA: This is 99 cents and it‘s also available on KU. The second and third books are on KU too - and it looks like the second book might be 99 cents right now. I remember liking this one but it‘s been a couple of years and I‘ve not kept up with the series. It‘s more YA, has vampires and witches, a curse, and there might be a love triangle developing. I may have to revisit this one soon!
One of my faves from Lewis Carroll, a nice little surprise at the beginning of Part 3. Also, #readingoutside before work, because we finally have one of those gorgeous ‘spring is in the air‘ Oklahoma mornings! 📚☕️💗💜🌸🌼🌷🌸💛💚
Celebrating the last hour of Mardi Gras! New Orleans is one of my absolute favorite places in the US! So much history, culture, music, legend, & mystery. 💚💛💜🎷🎭👑 If you haven‘t heard the story of the Casket Girls of the Ursuline Convent (while on a ghost tour), you are missing out! 🧛🏻♀️🤣 Decided to dive into this series, since I believe it has a good New Orleans feel & it‘s one I haven‘t read. Do you have a favorite New Orleans story?
If anyone is interested in prime day book deals, I highly recommend the Casquette Girls. Excellent, unique story with amazing world building and character development. It's set in magical New Orleans!
An excellent story and on sale right now on Amazon! Paranormal and set in New Orleans.

✨Good afternoon everyone!🌞 Look at these beautiful books that I need to read!! 😍I‘ll admit (all the time) that I‘m a sucker for a beautiful cover, but of course I want the story to be good as well. It has to still sound interesting for me to buy it. QOTD: Have you ever bought a book just because the cover is pretty or does it have to sound interesting too?✨
4.5 stars.
Absolutely loved this book. I'll be writing a full review on my blog but for now add it to your tbr 🙌
I loved it so much there's now a Casquette Girls candle in my etsy store.

I reread "The Casquette Girls" by Alys Arden together with her an a few other Fans in preparation of the second Book "The Romeo Catcher". It was even more fun the second time, because Alys answered so many of our questions and told us so much more of new orleans.
“Sometimes at night the darkness and silence weigh upon me… We need to live in a state of suspended animation like a work of art, in a state of enchantment. We have to succeed in loving so greatly that we live outside of time, detached.”
He finally unlatched his teeth from her throat and then staggered as he tried to stand, nearly falling backwards. “Madonna mia, how much does this woman drink?” he slurred. “Opium too. There are more toxins in her blood than in a Parisian sewer.”
New Orleans was wonderfully represented in this paranormal tale. I enjoyed how Arden wove the history and legend into the story. http://bambi-unbridled.blogspot.com/2017/04/audiobook-review-casquette-girls-by....

New series, but no mention of anything forthcoming. This book could be a stand-alone story, although there are some hints of what's to come for the series. It's an easy, draw you in kind of read that flashes back to 1700s Paris/New Orleans to modern-day New Orleans. The author mentions the Storm that destroys New Orleans and sets the story in motion. I enjoyed the magic and myth component - nothing like adding to New Orleans mystique!
Ok, I try really hard not to start series but I couldn't pass up a story about witches, vampires, and Southern magic and myth - New Orleans style. The main characters are teens facing some normal teen stuff topped off with the supernatural. So far, it's a win. I'm about 70% through because instead of folding laundry or reading book club books I'm compelled to finish this book.
All sorts of things to do but I keep not doing them and reading this instead. Now there's an old diary involved. Ahhhh... Someone help me!
So this is not the book I should be reading considering I have 3 book club books to read. But, you know, it called to me. The Storm has devastated New Orleans and magical stuff is going to happen. I mean, that's pretty compelling, right?
Found this ebook on sale a few weeks ago. I love New Orleans, and I'm sure I'm going to be imagining all the characters as people from The Originals! I'm so excited to have the whole day to devote to it! Great Saturday reading!
