Harder to start than The Martian, but I liked Jaz and got hooked.
It was good, heavy on the science, but not overwhelmingly so. The kibsu is odd and intriguing and the Trackers for that matter. And I felt like I learned something about rockets and the space race in the process.
There was a cliffhanger, which I shy away from, but she gave me enough to not feel like I wasted my time. I enjoyed the unusual lore, the characters, and the worlds. She did well tying 2 stories into one, but I was less into Mad‘s.
2nd read and I still love this series. The characters are good. The story was well plotted and hints at future books are well placed but still subtle. It‘s a joy to reread.
Less toxic, more character growth. I enjoy the little drips of his past that leak through. And the niggling a certain characters that turn out to be important.
I do not understand where all the hype came from. It‘s a decent book, heavy on the sex but still has a plot. It‘s a super toxic relationship though. Distracting enough I‘ll keep reading. She does a good job of finishing the story, but giving you a hook for the next book.
I only read the first novel in this volume. I was entertained, but not overly so. Not enough to read the second novel. The characters were good, the conflict okay, the lore a bit heavy handed. I‘m not sure the draw of rescuing x is enough to propel me forward. He‘s a bridge cool, game over.
I read this in a day. Good read, the plot was a little thin, but I always had a question I wanted to know more about. I am so-so about continuing the series. I will likely read book 2 in the future.
Aveyard is at once a harsh writer and a wonderful one. She gripped me for the entire series, I even had to take a breathing break between 2 and 3 because of the emotional toll. But I couldn't stay away too long. War Storm was a great ending to a long and arduous journey. The ending was a mix of sad and understanding, with room for more story, or me to fill in what I want to be the rest of their tale.
This third book wasn‘t as emotionally damaging as Glass Sword. The author could have betrayed her characters by ending it with this book, but she did well to honor them and their decisions, despite the fact that I yelled at them. On to War Storm.
This wraps up the series my daughter wanted me to read. I enjoyed the ending very much.
My daughter told me I needed to read this series. I read Ash Princess years ago, but I just picked this one up. Then finished it in a day. I like the elemental premise, the warrior princess, and the love interest that isn‘t.
I adored this series, but I will admit to be glad it‘s all wrapped up. There were several times I was scared for Jude.
I find myself feeling sorry for Jude as her plans become unraveled. And i want to smack her and Carden when they could just communicate with each other.
I've love Holly Black's take on fairies. The cruelty, the trickery, and the intrigue are well woven and a tinge of romance despite it all. I look forward to the next book.
Book 2 is even better than book 1. The character development is superb. I love the relationship play at work. The way the author handles a toxic relationship is wonderful. The book had plenty of its own plot and is not just a stepping stone to the next book. Although, I desperately want to read the next one.
I enjoyed Red Queen a lot. Glass sword al little less so. It felt like a transition between book 1 and book 3, with very little plot on its own, especially in the beginning. By the end, I felt so bad for Mer, that I wanted to pluck her from the book and wrap her in gauze and protect her just a little by not staying book 3 yet. We both needed a little bit of breathing room.
I dislike that the book ended on a cliffhanger midway through the book‘s main plot line. Nothing was resolved in the book. I don't feel like any of my questions were answered. I also found myself not believing what was going on, probably because the main character didn't believe what was happening. I won‘t be reading more and that makes me sad. I liked the world and the premise seems cool, if only I‘d gotten to see more of it.
I finished this series. I enjoyed the book, and the characters. This one was told by Lena, of course, but also a cured characters from book 1. I enjoyed seeing the stark differences. I was slightly disappointed that there wasn't a bigger ending. A larger revelation. Something to provoke a strong reaction like books 1 and 2 ended with.
I finally picked this series up again after Delirium left me with feels. This one bounced around between then and now, but wasn‘t confusing. The characters developed well and as expected the ending shook me again. I‘ll be reading the last to find out what kind of epic ending it has.
When you are reading a book and you find your street name in it.
My last book of 2020 and first of 2021. This epic was epic. The characters were robust and the story drew me in. I loved the level of court intrigue that the author included. I loved the East vs West and how well she handled culture, romantic pairings, skin tones and the story in general. I will read more from Samanths Shannon.
This was a good read. The characters were engaging and their emotions were well suited to the story. The ending made me want to read on for more.
Entertaining story. Believable characters. Great twist. I didn‘t see it. My eyes were somewhere else.
Holy moly. This thriller was amazing from the get go. Seriously, if you like thrillers and serial killer stories this is your next book.
Teacher/student supernatural Reverse Harem.
Interesting read. Was not prepared for the supernatural angle. I don‘t normally read reviews before books, and the back cover didn‘t share.
I read the whole thing in Neil Gaiman‘s voice and it was good.
Good spooky/creepy type story. I felt sorry for the old Victorian part of the house. Strange but true.
This was a good completion to The Sparrow. The first book left me with all kinds of feels so I had to take a substantial break between, but this one was worth the read. It was still very emotional and the timeline took some getting used to, but I picked it up quickly enough.
It took about a third of the book to get hooked into Ade‘s story. I was hooked with January‘s earlier, but I caught fire the second half of the book. If you start slow too, just keep going.
This has 2 story lines, both similar but one inside the other. I‘m fully invested in the outside one, the inside one makes me put the book down every time. :(
My oldest daughter and I have been reading this series for 6 years. This was a nice ending to our shared adventure.
I love that this author just drops little tidbits of gender truths here and there and just leaves them. He doesn‘t make a big deal out of it, just helps normalize them.
I promise I will not make a habit to do this, but I just looked up my own debut yafantasy book on Litsy and saw it and was so happy to find it here.
Wow. It took me a little longer than normal to get into this, and jumping from 1 time to another was hard to handle at first, but wow. It got me in the feels and wow.
Omg. This book was amazing. Horror story meets evil IKEA knock off store.
Not a complete story. Not a single completed story arc. I hate wasting my time on books like this.
