Fun little audiobook. It was nice to listen to inbetween long books.

Disappointing author but a decent book. Have always read about the characters in passing references so it felt good to finally know the background of them!
I really enjoyed these short stories about the gods of Asgard.
“Even the gods cannot change destiny.“
Pictured is my cat Loki, who is not as bad as his namesake 😄

I tried very hard to get into this book, but I just couldn't. I realized when I picked it up it is short stories and I've never been able to get into short stories. I'm quite interested in learning about Norse Mythology, but the short story format just didn't work for me. I'm sure it is a great book, and this is a me problem! It was time for me to bail as I wasn't getting any reading done. I'll probably try to come back to it at some point.
I'm really not finding much time to read because I've been so busy with work lately. Hope I get more than a few pages in before I fall asleep tonight 😆! I'm really looking forward to this book and I'm hoping it can transport me to a different world.
Second #bookspin of 2024! #13 has been chosen which means I'll be reading Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. I'm really excited to read another book by Neil Gaiman as I enjoyed The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
Thank you @thearomaofbooks for another spin!
A re-telling of some Norse myths. At times I wondered who the target audience was because the language seemed overly simplified so maybe tweens or teens? Ultimately I didn't really care. I still enjoyed it.
#WinterGames #CandyCaneCrushers This is my first finished book and racked up 5 hours and 39 minutes for #20in4. I have the ebook, but I listened to the audiobook instead because I love Gaiman's narration, My favorite story was the Mead of Poets.
Starting 2024 off right!! January #roll100 - From left to right, # 19 Norse Mythology, # 78 Atonement, and # 83 The Summer of Broken Rules!
@PuddleJumper
Why is Loki like this?! And all the other gods, especially Odín… like, maybe try judging people by their actions, and not making your own prophecies come true by treating them poorly? ?
It‘s kind of odd to review the story when it‘s literally the mythology (as much as is known today) of a particular religion. Gaiman tells it well. I still don‘t like audiobooks; I wished I could go back and check things, and I got bored more easily than usual.
Tackle the TBR 🤓📚

Though the retelling of ancient myths (in this case Loki, Odin, Thor, etc) isn‘t usually my thing, I thought this was very well done — exciting, cohesive stories told with humor humor and of the darkly theatrical shining through. Overall, it was a lot more fun than I expected.
Was Odin even worse than Loki? Was Thor a dumbass bashing everything in sight? Did we get licked into existence but a giant cow in the void of nothingness. Are bad poets basically drinking O***'s ****? All there questions were answered and more. I had lots of fun with this one. Check out our latest episode of the Mind duck Books podcast where we talked about it in depth: https://bit.ly/40fZy2N
I had a good time cross stitching Loki and Thor this month for #litsycrafters! 😂
Looking forward to April‘s theme!
Another collection of Gods Behaving Badly. I enjoyed these Norse tales and Gaiman brilliantly narrates his own book. It ties in neatly with The Witch‘s Heart, too. The myths are brutal and violent. Thor‘s an idiot. Loki is…Loki - a sneaky, narcissistic, trickster. I do rather love Freya and Hel, though. A little slow in spots, but overall a fun listen.
5⭐ I recently listened to Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman, and it was an absolute delight. I'll be honest and say that I'm not sure if I would have loved it this much if I hadn't been listening to it, though I still would have enjoyed it a lot. But Gaiman is a master oral storyteller. His voice was made for narration, and there is a playfulness that comes through when he is telling these myths that kept me hanging on his every word.
A telling of Norse Mythology that was captivating. The audiobook is narrated by Neil Gaiman who always makes the read even MORE interesting with his range of voices for the characters.
My bookclubs pick of the month!! This is somewhat outside my reading comfort zone but I think this will be a great book! I love the Avengers and I'm excited to see where some of the characters were inspired!
Also my local library gave me a free muffin. Heck yes. 💯
I learned 2 things from this book:
1) it's ALWAYS Loki's fault! & 2) Thor's a ginger?!?! Lol
This audiobook was very interesting. It's amazing just how similar the stories are to the Greek stories. This picture is from freya's unusual wedding. Very weird names, there is no way I could remember most of them. I give it 4.5 outta 5 🌟
I loved this one so much that I read it twice when it came out in 2017. I read it in print and then again on audio. I've always loved mythology and Gaiman's playful retellings are a delight. Readers will recognize the trickster Loki, clever Odin, and strong (and a bit dim) Thor. Rereading it a third time, the book has not lost its charm. Highly recommended, especially if you are already a fan or the author.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you Mr. Gaiman for entertaining me with these amazing stories! Long live Loki 💚
No matter how many times I read this, it‘s still super enjoyable like reading it again for the first time. I find new things that I pick up on with each read. Being a huge Norse Mythology fan helps too.

This is a very late #sundaysoapbox post, but here are two covers I adore. Unfortunately the photos don't do them justice but they are so pretty, I sometimes take them off the shelf just to look at them 😍
Thanks for tagging me Sherri @Eggs 💕
Okay, this was fun. I love the interpretation that Neil gave. I am familiar with the stories. I loved it.
The #8thBookof2021 is Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. The audiobook is narrated by the author and is very entertaining! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !! #12Booksof2021
Neil Gaiman read the book himself, giving you the author's own thoughts. Ok, but not really anything new or different. Interesting though, how flawed and silly the gods seem.

Progress Report for #NeilGaimanNovember
Books Read: 3
Currently Reading: Norse Mythology
Neil Gaiman is such a wonderful author and I'm glad I decided to do this for November. So far, the books are amazing
(Side Goal: I have about 9+ books that I need to review. Hopeful I'll get those done by the end of the year)
Here‘s my review for a book I just finished listening to. I‘ve had this book on my Goodreads TBR since November 3, 2016 and I finally got around to reading it this month. I‘m counting this book for 1 reading challenge.

Today, I‘m sharing my reading progress for the audiobook I‘m currently listening to. I‘m hoping to listen to more of it later on tonight. This book is narrated by the author and it‘s good so far.
I finished The Greed by Scott Bergstrom today and I‘ve decided to start listening to Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. It‘s good so far. I‘m sharing a screenshot of when I added this book to my Goodreads TBR. I forgot that I added this book on there because I have so many books on there. It‘s interesting. I didn‘t know that I had this book on my Goodreads TBR for 5 years. That‘s a long time.
This was a fun audiobook to experience while riding my bike 😊 🚴
In Norse Mythology, Gaiman stays true to the myths in envisioning the major Norse pantheon:
• Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring, and cunning;
• Thor, Odin‘s son, incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods;
• Loki—son of a giant—blood brother to Odin and a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Captivating and often hilarious. Neil Gaiman never disappoints.
#ConflictedWorlds Day 26: #PersonVsGods - While it had Gaiman‘s usual strangenesses, this was a bit tempered and a little more intimate than usual. He seemed to be beckoning the reader closer so that he can whisper to your ear alone tales of giants and dwarves, gods and demons, dregs and treasures. Read this in 2017 while family and I were on our way to Norway from Munich. More here with Litsy mentioned: https://wp.me/pDlzr-fQI
Just finished listening to the audiobook version of this book. How I enjoy listening to Neil Gaiman! And, of all the Marvel characters, Thor is my favorite. The description of the book said he was powerful but not the brightest, but I enjoy his adventures anyway. And Loki - what a mischief-maker! As you can tell, I really enjoyed this book! #104 #BookSpinBingo 24 #BFC21 #6 #TAILSandTSLESforADULTS #31 #THEROYALREADATHON HSREADATHON
We adopted our one-eyed dog back in November. We call him Odie so most people assume it‘s from Garfield. But his full name is Odin, which is for obvious reasons and also a shout-out to my husband‘s Icelandic heritage. Really looking forward to this read. Everything Neil Gaiman does is excellent.

Everything I know about Norse mythology comes from Marvel, Almighty Johnson‘s or Assassins Creed: Valhalla. That being said, I feel like this is a good primer. Some familiar character and stories mixed with some new ones. Plenty of Loki.
I audiobooked this and Gaiman‘s narration was superb, and reminiscent of oral storytelling due to the format of the tales.
