Anthologies are tough because you‘re never going to like all the stories – or perhaps I should say almost never. While there were definitely certain stories in this collection that shone brighter than the others, I didn‘t dislike any of them. They were all interesting and well written and clever! While the theme was YA horror shorts, these would easily be enjoyed by adult fans of the genre as well.

I just finished this collection of short stories via audio book. I really think horror stories work better as short stories in a way since it felt like listening to ghost stories around a fire.

I also enjoyed a Dracula graphic novel 15 pts,

October was an amazing reading month! I read lots of spooky books and read 31 books total! Most are not pictured since they were library books or audiobooks.
Here‘s my breakdown.

* 2 ARCs

I really enjoyed Slasher Girls and Monster Boys with lots of different authors I love writing creepy stories.

So it‘s not that this was a “bad book” I liked some of the stories but not all of the ones I read. Plus I had rented it as an ebook (I‘m not good with ebooks, I am a physical or audio book kinda girl)

So I‘m giving up on this one :/

1. A GREAT spooky read!
2. Sometimes. It depends on how late I am to my first class.
3. No! Cold pizza makes my stomach hurt
4. 7 1/2 - 8‘s, depending on the brand

This was so so good. Some were (much) better than others, but that‘s usually a given. Each story was inspired mostly by a movie which was pretty neat. 🍿👻🧟‍♀️🎃

Okay, this got 4 stars only because some of the stories (like, two) rubbed me the wrong way. Most of them were heckin‘ fantastic, and I really loved the innovation and creativity these authors showed with their twists on classic, overdone tropes. Would recommend to anyone who was a fan of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and is all grown up now.

An absolute gem of #horror short stories, especially YA horror. My favorites were In the Forest Dark and Deep, a disturbing tale of the March Hare and tea parties; Hide and Seek, a story about a girl who has 24 hours to win a challenge against death; and The Girl Without a Face, a wonderful psychological terror. That one gave me all the creepy feelings 💀🔪

And here's an update on this book: yes too scary for me!! Have to bail after 2nd story. Picked this one up mostly just because of the awesome list of authors featured, but I dont do well with actual horror books. I can handle creepy not gore! #bail #dnf #muchtooscary

Saying this is a pick for a YA book is a big thing for me as I don‘t usually like them. This was such an interesting anthology of stories. Each story was inspired by another source which they tell you at the end but some of them you could tell what the inspiration was while the story was being told. The audio cast was good, I didn‘t care for 2 of the stories, but the first few stories are the best out of all of them.

Checking in for hour 21 for #24in48 and I‘m severely behind. I‘m at two and half hours total (that includes my 35 minutes from work earlier) and I still have another 6 hours left in this book. So far I only disliked one story so that‘s good, the rest I have actually enjoyed quite a lot. Well better get back if I plan on making any kind of dent in this readathon.

I‘m only 35 minutes Into the #24in48 but I‘m a total of 4 hours into this book (I started it two days ago) and holy cow do I love it. And this says a lot about me as I usually do not like YA. The stories are so intriguing and gritty, not super gritty like an adult book but enough to keep me entertained and interested. I‘m listening while I‘m at work when I‘m in the back by myself. So it‘s slow but at least it‘s going. @24in48

I meant to read this last Halloween, so better late than never. The first 3 stories are pretty good.

Look at all the freebies I got from StokerCon! I can't wait to read these and put them in the hands of all the patrons at my library for the sake of Summer Scares! The middle image is a badass tote bag.

I also got to hear Grady Hendrix talk about "bigfoot dong", his words exactly. ?

Being a picky reader and not having much history with the horror genre, I was a bit skeptical. The book consist of short dark "campfire" stories written by different authors. The stories are also vastly different so you are bound to like some if not all of them. Personally I had a few favourites and some I mist likely won't be revisiting. It's still a really good book. If you like this sort of thing, it's defiatly worth a read. ?

Not usually one for the horror genre, I grabbed this book because Leigh Bardugo had done a story in it. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book as a whole, and nearly every story had something that was able to draw me in. I didn‘t get many (if any) of the inspiration references for these stories, but it was still an enjoyable and intense read without them.

I enjoyed this collection. Only a couple meh entries. Most were original takes on classic horror and I really loved them!

Had a really productive reading month for #screamathon! Read some great creepy stories, a terrifying nonfiction, and some humorous scary stories.

12 books in all with one audiobook.

My favorites were probably I‘ll Be Gone in the Dark, Certain Dark Things and Slasher Girls & Monster Boys.

I absolutely loved this collection of horror and thriller short stories by YA authors! It was perfect for the season and gave me lots of creepy vibes. Some of the stories even spooked me a bit, and I‘m not usually scared easily! Jay Kristoff‘s “Sleepless” was definitely my favorite!

All of the stories featured in this book are based on horror movies (except for a dark Alice In Wonderland) and I really enjoyed them. The few that I didn't care for was simply because I didn't know the movies they were based on. All-in-all, a great anthology!

Little Elvira approves of this book! I love short story collections and it is unfortunately rare for me to say but I enjoyed every story in this collection. I actually had to take a break for a couple of days because I had gotten creeped out. There are some trigger warnings with some of the stories but also some badass young ladies. I will have to look up some of the authors to read their other stories.

Early morning reading before a hike with my family. There hasn‘t been much reading this weekend.I am about halfway through and I am enjoying the stories in the book. 🖤 The pup only snuggles when he is sleepy.
