so-soI really liked Nemesis and her bond with Sidonia. But I still would have prefered to be more emotionally attached to the characters.
I really loved the beginning: it was really intriguing & thrilling.
The middle part of the book wasn't really captivating to read, even though there was action. I just couldn't feel as much as I would have loved to and after the amazing beginning was a bit disappointed. The last part was better.

pickI reread this in anticipation for The Nemesis releasing Tuesday. After years, I can't wait!
pick🎧 The narrator was good. The story was very reminiscent of Cinder. If you liked the Lunar Chronicles you may also like this series. This is the 1st book in the series. Nemesis is an interesting character. The ending feels very YA so we shall see in book 2. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/3

Past and well loved (some a little destroyed from all the lovin‘) SFF books I‘ve read. Never liked the Twilight series but I did LOVE The Host and ended up like the movie as well. Titan A.E. is honestly better as a novelization although the animated movie is great too. The Diabolic was SO GOOD and SO TWISTY! And Lying Cat making an appearance~

so-soOverall an enjoyable read! It was entertaining and once I got into it (took me 11 chapters), I read most of it in one night. Some of the characters and ideas I really enjoyed but did find some of them inconsistent or unpolished. I also found myself being able to predict most of the book, aside from two instances. If you want a good casual read, this is it. Not the next Harry Potter, but I just might read the sequel.

pickI didn‘t realize that this was dystopian when I picked it out of the list of books on my TBR and I probably would have skipped it because I‘ve been getting tired of the genre, but I‘m glad I didn‘t. It reminded me a little bit of Cinder, but a lot darker. It‘s an interesting concept of having a “person” made with the sole purpose to protect a single other person. Very intriguing.

This is up next. I had my son scroll through my TBR list and randomly pick a book for me to get at the library.
pickY'all know how much I love a good political drama, and this story definitely delivered. It had everything I could ever want — an imaginative world, political machinations that kept me guessing, warring philosophies, convenient-alliance-turned-forbidden-romance, female friendship. My only wish is that I could see more of the poetic language I only got hints of. Maybe in the sequel? Let's find out! ★★★★☆.

So a friend and I Re arguing over if this is a cover change or not. I say yes. The two barely resemble each other. The first as the butterfly with knives for wings and the second a bird coming out of a ball or an egg. I say cover change. What do you say.

One of the reasons I love YA and science fiction is because it so profoundly gives a glimpse into our all too possible and terrifying future. Hopefully if we know better we will do better.
