4/5🌟 - Finished Beach Read earlier this week, and really enjoyed it. There was a lot less beach than I was expecting but so much more I wasn't expecting. I loved hearing about the writing process of two authors who write different genres. It's a great story of how a person feels when they receive shocking news that alters everything they remember of their past. The MCs were likeable and the town it was set in made me want to move.

3/5?
This was cute, REALLY cute. The relationship between Darcy and Marisol is the kind of friendship few are lucky to have. Darcy's after school job is one to envy, bookstore with tons of reading time? Yes please. As cute as this was, &as likeable as the MCs were, this was just meh. I got bored halfway through and kept thinking "How much longer?" It's a good palette cleanser, and a fast read. TW: abandonment, hoarding, mentions of a car accident

Wow, definitely worth the hype. Kya's story is of resilience, of what happens when you're written off at a young age, and of nature vs. nurture. It made my heart ache while simultaneously had me pushing through to know what happens. I was angry that so few would have compassion for a scared, lonely child. Owen's writing was beautiful. I loved her careful, vivid, descriptions. This was an emotional rollercoaster right up to the last page. 5/5🌟

I always expect to like V.R books as much as I did the Divergent series, and am always a bit disappointed. There is a lot I feel could have been left out of this book and a lot that could have been expanded on. The articles didn't add anything for me. The case files were good, but lacking. It was a fun easy read. Slow at times, rushed in others. I enjoyed that Sloan was a flawed MC.

I can't believe it took me THIS long to start AoGG series. I'm 30 &read book one for the first time this past week. Needless to say, I loved it. I wish I had known Anne growing up. I think her imagination &ever-growing optimism would have done a younger me very well. I loved through-out the first book she was fearlessly herself. I can't wait to step into GG again, but I'm making my way through some library holds.

mariaku21 Same thoughts! I read Anne of Green Gables last yr and absolutely loved her! 4y
Samwise_Gamgee I have never read it either! 4y
vicgreentoriafield @Samwise_Gamgee I watched the show first and loved it. It's very different but the character casting was amazing. Amazon has all of the books as a bundle for $.99 so I started down the wormhole. Recommending both show and book. Lily would probably love Anne too. 4y

mariaku21 @vicgreentoriafield I just started on Anne of Avonlea hoping to go through them all too. That Netflix show gave me so many feels even with the creative differences, it's still Anne 4y
vicgreentoriafield @mariaku21 I'm sad it's canceled, I hope it gets picked back up. I loved the casting, especially Anne and Marilla. 4y
mariaku21 @vicgreentoriafield I know. I was just saddened because that casting was amazing. I loved Mathew. A great and quiet strength to Marilla 4y

I'm treating this impromptu time off from work, and social distancing, as an excuse to spend lazy mornings in bed reading. Trying to surround myself with as much peace as possible and detach from the news sites I'm constantly refreshing. Making a point to find that balance of keeping informed without the anxiety spiral.

100 pages in and my heart breaks for Lydia, but enjoying this March BOTM pick

About 11 years ago my dad had some life threatening health problems happen. After that he decided that he always wanted to write a book, so he did. He self-edited and seld-published through Amazon. I'm thankful he reached this point in his life where he could cross a life-long dream off of his bucket list. He told me "I always wanted to do it, so I did. I don't care if it's not something everyone likes." I couldn't be more proud of him.

vicgreentoriafield I hope to live my life with that same attitude and fearlessness as him. 5y

I come into contact with A LOT of different people on a daily basis so I'm taking this time to keep myself & my family safe. Hope everyone is doing well!

When I first picked this book up 2-3 years ago, I read the first chapter and thought "nah." It just wasn't the right time, but now, omg. Lindy is able to articulate every argument I have in my head where the words don't reach my mouth. She seems like the type of person you could form an instant connection with. I loved this book, she's gained a lifelong fan. I'm silently in her corner, inwardly cheering from afar

I like tag-teaming books with audio while driving and reading at home, which is what I'm doing with The Cactus. I actually prefer the audio on this one. The narrator is lovely and the voice fits the main character so well. This seems to be the unpopular opinion, but I'm really enjoying this read so far.

Phew, it's been awhile. January was a great reading month. I know I won't finish another before tomorrow ends. My favorite from this month was "The Starless Sea" I loved it so much as soon as I finished reading I downloaded the audio for my husband to listen to at work, had to share it with him so we could talk about it. My least favorite was "I was told there'd be cake" I almost didn't finish it, but pushed through.

Hope everyone is doing well!

If you'd like to try it with me here's a referral link. Hopefully I'll get something that I love and normally wouldn't have picked up. https://www.usedbooksmonthly.com/refer/Victo-VSQJMYSK

OMG, I watched the first season of this and loved it. As soon as I finished I ran to the bookshelf and immediately pulled it out. This has been on the shelf for years and it's about time it gets love. I'm happy I watched it first, I usually am happier watching first because I don't sit around going "that's not right" or "that didn't happen in the book"

Ashley85 That‘s actually a good idea because I end up doing that all the time! 😂 6y
