My reading for January. My favorites were definitely Educated and Ladder to the Sky.

John Boyne is such a brilliant writer. I loved the writing style of this book! I would call this a must read for 2019 for sure! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Who can spot the reference to The Heart's Invisible Furies? I love it when authors do this.
My library haul. Which one should I read first?
I just finished this book and I don't want it to be over. I can't stop thinking about it. Such am incredible memoir. Tara's story is heartbreaking and so inspirational! Everyone should read this book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I did it! Although 100 books is cool, I think I will set a lower goal next year so i can enjoy some larger books without stressing.
I'm so glad that I finally read this book! Although I did find the first half a little slow and hard to get into, I'm so glad I stuck with it. 5 stars for sure!
I've had this book sitting on my tbr shelf for way too long. Looking forward to starting this one today. Oh, and of course I'm drinking tea with my read.
I really loved this book. I liked the format of being told in the past and the present, until the two merged. For me, this one just had all the feels.
It's a flannels, reading and tea kind'a day.
Wow, I'm stunned after finishing this book. I didn't realize until the Author's note at the end that this was based on a true story! I would say this is a must read!
This book was just OK for me. I have to learn to stop reading books that are compared to The Woman on the Train, because it won't be as good. It took me a long time to read this book and I was really just looking for a fast thriller that I couldn't put down. What I got was slow and very put-downable.
I was really reluctant and on the fence about starting this one. It was the razor blade that really grossed me out and I was worried the book would be too gruesome for me. I'm really glad I decided to give it a chance.
I really enjoyed this one. I'm especially glad that I took the time to read the Bill Hodges trilogy first. It definitely added to this story.
Enjoying a lazy Sunday with a good read and some tea. Happy long weekend everyone!
I am so glad I decided to read the Mr. Mercedes trilogy. This third and final book was fantastic and brought everything around full circle. Now on to finally read The Outsider!
Here's all the books I finished for August. My most favorite was listening to The Outsiders audio book with my teenage daughter (We listened while we drove to and from work. She worked at my office with me this summer.) I had read it in high school, but still such a good story.
Just finished Finders Keepers and keeping up the momentum by going right into the final book of the trilogy.
I really enjoyed listening to the audio of this book. I hadn't read it since high school so it was like listening for the first time. Especially liked listening with my daughter.
I thought the storyline of this book had a lot of potential, but it just didn't have enough momentum for me. I almost bailed halfway through, but decided to stick it out.
Here are my books for July. My two favorites would be The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Born a Crime.
I really enjoyed and would totally recommend this true life account written by Trevor Noah. He adds humor to some very dark subject matter.
This was a nice, quick, easy read. I thought it was well written and I liked the format (knowing the ending and working back from the past). However, the ending fell very flat for me. There was not enough explained of the "why" everything happened. For that reason it is only so-so for me.
This one was just O.K. for me. I figured out the big twists way before they were revealed, which was a first for me and a little disappointing.
I really enjoyed this book. I listened to the audio and it was very well done. The story is very touching and also empowering.
I was really excited to read this book and I was so utterly disappointed. I know a lot of people will disagree, but I found this book boring and couldn't wait until it was done. The peace picked up a little for the last 3rd, but by then i just wanted it done.
Here are my #junestats. 9 books in total, 4 reading and 5 audio. My favorite for the month (and probably the year) is definitely The Great Alone, but overall it was a lot of good books.
I was really excited for this one and it did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the people and lives of Beartown. If you haven't read Beartown, you must, and then read this book. Thank you Frederik Backman for never disapointing me.
Wow, what an emotional roller coaster! I was crying all through the last 3rd of the book. This might be the best book I've read all year. Heartbreaking and amazing.
Really glad I decided to read this trilogy before reading The Outsider. I really enjoyed this one and dual perspectives of the retired detective verses the killer. On to Finders Keepers next.
I really enjoyed this audio book. Can't wait to read The Great Alone next. This story really personalized the war experience and made it real.
"These man-made trans fats are not just bad; they're Darth Vader-meets-Lord Voldemort bad."
Went to the library to pick up Genius Foods that I had on hold, and discovered that The Great Alone was ready as well. Both books recommended to me by @Jenna2 I have some reading to do.
Wow @Elle_Skeldon can't believe all the awesome stuff you sent me! The books are all awesome (can't decide which one I want to read first), the tea looks delicious (black tea is my fave), love the bookmarks (especially the penguin one!) and the socks are awesome! Also thanks again to @JPeterson for organizing the #sockswap
So I decided to read the Mr. Mercedes trilogy before starting King's new book The Outsider (I heard there are Mr. Mercedes spoilers in The Outsider. So, this is how I'll be spending my lazy Sunday today.
I had this one sitting on my tablet forever since I bought it on sale during Black Friday sales last year. I'm glad I finally read it. It was a good page turner and now I'm looking forward to the sequel.
I read/listened to ten books in May (a couple were really short books). My favorite would probably be Girls Burn Brighter.
I enjoyed this audio book a lot. If I had to choose I'd say The Home for Unwanted Girls was a little better, but still worth the listen for sure. 3.5 🌟
Ok I couldn't resist buying this one today. This will be my next read for sure. Just didn't want to wait for the library for this one.
I got my #sockswap mail yesterday! Can't wait until June 7th to open! Thanks @Elle_Skeldon for the package and @JPeterson for organizing the swap.
Just about one year ago I hosted my first book club meeting. I wanted to start a book club to motivate myself to read more. I thought I should only read the monthly book club book but it has definitely snowballed in the best way possible! Here are all the books we've read in our first year. I love the variety and authors that I love and never would have discovered otherwise.
