Xayíde, Ygramul the Many, Atréyu, Bastian Bathazar Bux, Carl Conrad Coreander, Grograman etc. have maybe had the greatest impact.
Fantasy seems to be the best & neverending source for weird names... 😄

I had a few options here, but when in doubt go with Douglas Adams. I have this as both ragged old paperback and as Kindle edition, but neither of them has this particular cover. I just went with this one because of the way it makes the word #Long stand out. 😄

This was even more funny than I remembered, and I think I understood the end better this time, though it still gets a bit frantic. Revisiting Adams made me happy.
I'm having book attention issues again (lack of sleep and recharge time will do that). So July was not a great month in that I didn't read a ton and I DNFed at least one book. But I did read a couple of things I had fun with, and I'm going into the new month with 3+ books started, so who knows what will happen? #JulyWrapUp

1. It certainly wasn‘t a phase for me. 😅 I loved ALL mythology as a kid and willingly soaked up any culture‘s mythology that I could research. I‘m still this way.
2. Ugh, that‘s a tough one... Norse mythology would probably win out over the others by just the barest smidge.

Finished all the available Hitchhiker's Guide books available on Libby, and decided to move onto Dirk Gently. Unfortunately, only the second one is available and I haven't read the first.
I was excited to know it's read by the author. It occurred to me that I have never heard his voice. Adam's has a really good speaking voice, but for whatever reason I'm still unable to focus on the story. Might have to give another audiobook a try.
So I always have my TBR each month, but I also have a secret backup TBR, in case I finish all the books I was planning to read... this is the backup #MayTBR, but I'm thinking of switching the two lists this time! These seem a bit more comfort-read looking than what I originally planned...

This book was all over the place in the best possible way. I'm a little sad there aren't more of these. I will probably never look at a Coke machine in quite the same way.
Also, I think JK Rowling must be a Douglas Adams fan. The scene on the train platform took that opinion to the next level.

This book is as weird as it's title. I realized Dirk Gently didn't have much to do here but that's his whole thing right!! he is a holistic detective after all.
This book is uncanny and inexplicable at times but is a fun read. Go for this if you like fantasy mixed with science fiction!!
What a welcome balm as I left a much-too-short vacation mode and launched straight back into the madness of real life!
I've been in a few airports in the last few weeks. This spoke to me.

Adam‘s has one of my favorite conversational voices. Especially made entertaining by the fact every time I read “Thor” I see Chris Hemsworth. Adam‘s ability to convey the setting in quick, precise, character influenced sentences has always been perfect. I especially loved the addition of the female protagonist in this novel. 5 out of 5 on GR. I wish there had been more Dirk Gently.

This time Dirk finds his client‘s head spinning on a record and his “partner” gets mixed up with Norse Gods. Can‘t wait to finish!

#agameoffavorites day 5, while I do enjoy poetry and have favorite poets, I gotta go with sci-fi! Douglas Adams has been one of my favorites since I was 17-18. I adore Hitchhiker's Guide. But nothing can upset Tea Time as my favorite Adam's book. I know it's not as sci-fi-ish, but it is still classified as such. His favorite book, I can't find; but his favorite author was PG Wodehouse. He's an unread on my tbr pile.

My very old and well loved first edition copy of one of my absolute favorite books, also happens to have one of my absolute favorite book covers.
I miss Douglas Adams. Great dramatization of this book, but these characters were knockouts to start.

Almost half way done with this book and someone wants a foot massage... I think they'll have to wait. Also, an Aunt suggested this book as a good book to read while grieving. Is this not the most perfect tea mug?! Hands down this may be my next bookish purchase! And I swear I was looking at Amazon for hangers, not books, or bookish things. This is all Amazon's fault. Yup. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
This was full of all the usual quirky wit I like about Douglas Adams, but overall I just didn't enjoy this as much as the first Dirk Gently novel.
