Have you read this book? And look at that gorgeous cover.
Begins with an excerpt from a murder trial then moved to alternating chapters and told of the life of high society and how they adapted social protocol to whatever they wanted.
Beautifully written as all of Ms. Williams‘ books even though it took me a while to get connected.
Patterned after an opera titled Der Rosenkavalie.

A CERTAIN AGE began with an excerpt from a murder trial then moved to alternating chapters and told of the life of high society and how they adapted social protocol to whatever they wanted.
Beautifully written as all of Ms. Williams‘ books even though it took me a while to get connected, but it was still enjoyable.

1-24-22: My 9th finished book of 2022! I wanted to love this one because I really like this author but it fell flat for me. Mrs. Theresa Marshall, helps her brother propose to a sweet 19 year old,Sophie, using a “cavalier” named Octavian (who happens to be Theresa‘s lover) as his proxy. Upon meeting Sophie, Octavian, falls for her. Theresa decides to investigate Sophie and this is where a murder mystery from 16 years ago comes to light. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was a slow read for me. I couldn‘t get excited about any of the characters - they all seemed so distant and disconnected. It did pick up a little in the last quarter of the book but still the characters were just not exciting or filled out in my opinion.
All of her covers are absolutely gorgeous ❤️❤️❤️ This one is my favorite ❤️

A Certain Age is so beautiful and was my first Beatriz book. I had her sign it!!
I LOVE the cover of Daisy! Totally reminds me of Stevie Nicks at that age. I felt like the book was based on her and Fleetwood Mac 🤷🏼♀️ If I‘m being totally honest, I wanted to really, really love it, but I just love it. Evelyn spoiled me!! 💚💚💚
The cover to Nina drew me in because it‘s yellow 💛💛 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
If you like well-crafted verbiage, believable characters, and especially if you‘re a fan of the prohibition-era 1920‘s, then you‘ll love this book, as Williams is certainly a talented author.

Falling in love with a younger man while you are still married and then having a younger woman come along wasn't the best thing to happen to Mrs. Theresa Marshall.

Don‘t miss out on this one!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I adored this book. I feel like I always say that after reading a Beatriz Williams book. 😉 It is a book about new money vs old money in 1920s New York. It involves a love story and a murder. I loved Sophie and her determination. I honestly did not want this book to end because I wanted more of her story.
Spending this cold, snowy, icy afternoon reading as all the kitties in the house are snuggled in various locations nearby. I do love snowy weekends, and I'm loving this Beatriz William's book.
Starting this one today. Also pictured is my mug with pictures of my goat buddy, Livvie! Have a great day Litsy friends! 💜💜

Another enjoyable read from Ms. Williams, taking place in 1920s New York. Murder, adultery, love, friendship- it has it all! Although this wasn‘t my favorite of hers, I would still recommend it. And that cover! *swoon*

Not to often do I find something that hits me right where it hurts. The longing and needed of books as a small child has transformed into my need for a personal library as an adult. This character is just in awe of the books that surround her in her fiancée house I would be too if I was presented into a room like that.
An afternoon pick-me-up to go with book 4 for #24b4Monday.

Meh. The story was entertaining, but there were few surprises; I anticipated most of the major events and twists. I writing was okay. The characters were not as well developed as I would have liked. It was an easy read though, and I got through it quickly once I was dedicated to finishing it.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Thank you so much for this perfect January pick-me-up a/k/a my #SFMBC pkg @MaleficentBookDragon !!! That candle is amazing.. the socks are so cute, those Tiffany bookmarks are so cool!, the chocolate is of course yummy 😋😁, & that cactus mold is awesome!! The coffee will liven up the office wonderfully ☺️ And the books!! Thank you for such an enticing selection! What a generous & perfect gift.♥️♥️♥️ (unpictured: sfmbc book & journal)

A Certain Age
Im so excited for this!
Also please ignore the ferret food all over the floor! Amelia was throwing her food at me while i was taking the pic! 🐾
This is my second book by Beatriz Williams, and I believe I will go on to read more of her work. While I did not like this one as well as Summer Wives, I did enjoy the story and watching the mystery unfold. At times I found the character of Theresa Marshall a little too campy, but it did not distract too much. What I really like about this author is that she is a good writer. The words flow and are pleasing, and she uses elevated vocabulary.
Due to clustered migraines over the weekend, I put Crimson Tide and White Petal on hold and started this for light reading today.
The beautiful socialite, Theresa Marshall had plenty of #diamondsandpearls 💎 💍
Hours away from seeing Beatriz Williams 💚💚
Well, I don‘t even know where to begin. I‘m not sure this one did much for me. The font used in the journalistic sections was very difficult for me to read. The device of skipping back and forth in time felt forced. All of this left me feeling very distracted. That said, I enjoyed immensely the descriptions of the architecture and fashion in the time period. And I always like an author who breaks the fourth wall. I‘ll try again.
Not my biggest haul but worthy all the same. Thank you for the great recommendations fabulous Littens! @RadicalReader
