Oh my.... I‘m never going to be able to stick to the holiday rules of one book in each bookstore we visit! Rules are made to be broken !
Yesterday was #independentbookstoreday so of course we made a trip to one! This is the only one closest to us. It has just expanded and it's gorgeous! Lots of room to add more books and merch!
And of course we didn't leave empty handed! If we stayed any longer, my bag would have been filled but alas we had hungry kids calling too much attention to themselves and had to leave 😭😭
I‘m going to be in Southern California for a couple of days this weekend and I know it‘s Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, so where should I go? I‘ll be staying in Huntington Beach, but my parents are from Long Beach, so I‘ve got options because they‘re always willing to go! And really, I‘ll need some book retail therapy to get over the fact that I‘m flying across the country for such a ridiculously short trip.
A unique bookshelf in the bookstore here in Breckenridge, Colorado.
We made it back to the bookstore after massages. Loved the way it was organized. It looks messy but I liked his organizational choices. We got a few books.
We almost made it to the bookstore at the bottom of these shops but our massages take precedence today. We will be back! We promise!
Sweet little chair at one of local used bookstores. And ... shock ... I didn‘t even buy anything! #shopindie #usedbooks #shoplocal
Wow I haven‘t posted in forever. Haven‘t read much because March is a busy month. But in other bookish news, my 10yo niece and 13yo nephew stayed with me over their March break and I took them to Chapters—I don‘t think they‘d ever been in a bookstore before because there aren‘t any where they live. My niece emphatically declared “I want to live here” and I couldn‘t have been prouder 😂
Discovered this book warehouse where all books are 50% off. It‘s very overwhelming and will take multiple visits to uncover some real gems, but I got a couple of good ones this time. And my husband is in a Stephen King phase now and collecting first editions of his books and found a copy of Carrie for only $10. 👌🏻
Heartwarming story:
Slavinsky said although the Book Catapult is, strictly speaking, a competitor to her employer, she doesn‘t see things that way.
“The book world is a little bit different,” she said. “I see this as helping somebody in the community. It‘s the community coming together.”
Bookstore people are awesome people.
I just read this article on CNN. A bookstore owner had to have emergency surgery, and when other local bookstore workers found out, they pooled their resources and worked for free to keep the bookstore open. ❤️
What I would like to do is a postal history with publishers and booksellers.Found this piece at the show today ,an envelope, postmarked 1889 .The back side used to advertise their business.Letters from newspapers and magazines seem much more common.
I found a gorgeous little bookshop that specializes in old and rare books! 🤗💕📚
After yesterday‘s #ThePoconoBookClub meeting, we drove one of the members home since she‘s having car problems. Turns out, she‘s almost ready to open her new bookstore/spiritual center! We got a sneak peek! 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Checking out some bookstores in Davis, CA.
Hubby and I checking out a local bookstore #jaxbeach
Yesterday was a particularly rage inducing day at work. I love teaching, I love the kids, but man, some of the ADULTS I have to deal with 😡😡😡. Anyway, last night‘s Oreos did not soothe the savage beast, so off to B&N we went! Books for my daughter, books for swaps and of course, books for me!!

I said goodbye to our bookstore tonight. I forgot to take a pic so here‘s Nova. They officially close tomorrow. I‘m heartbroken. I keep hoping that corporate will find them a new location.
Decided to stop in a super awesome bookstore in Thomasville, GA today on my way to work. This is the bookstore featured in the podcast, The Front Porch 😍 😁 #TheBookshelf
I'm absolutely gutted: we're losing our bookstore 1/19 in preparation for a godforsaken Meijer. I feel like it's worse b they're not going out of business- they're being forcibly removed. The next closest store is 45 mins away. A community becomes culturally poorer when it loses books.
I could have done some serious damage in this discount book store, but I had all my boys with me!

Here is a better list of what is part of the deal.
Pre-birthday celebrations should always include trips to visit new bookstores. At #solidstatebooks in DC :)
Hey all, this popped up on my Instagram this morning!!! I didn't know about it until today, so I thought I would share it with all of you so you could all have a chance to enter too! I mean $100 at Half Priced Books would be awesome!!!!
I hope you all have a great Thursday!!!!
Good evening from Tokyo! The nights are cold and best spent in a bookstore.
Cool area in Augusta, GA. Grab a book and play the piano if ya want 😀
Went exploring on the other side of the city yesterday and of course had to stop by one of my favorite bookstores, Capitol Hill Books. Now if only I could live here...
My boyfriend just got back from a work trip in Portland, and brought me a few surprises. 😁
Gotta love a bookstore that opens at 7am! ❤️
Heading up to the Catskills for vacation and we stopped in NYC for lunch and a visit to The Strand. Really expensive two hour pit stop, but it‘s worth it for the books! 😂
Happens to me all the time. #same
In the Milwaukee airport before you go through TSA there‘s this bookstore Renaissance. It‘s a definite must see! I could spend easily 5+ hours here!
When in Portland...📚📚📚📚📚📚📚😊
Seriously, I'm taking a weekend day off.
(Also, there's some #witchpleaseswap shopping that I've been dying to do. 😀)
The hubby indulged me and brought me to this quaint local bookstore in what used to be a church! ⛪ I‘ll post the books we picked up later-this place is a gem! Sadly, it is closing next month ☹️ I‘m just glad we found it before it closed!
I found a whole stack of Folio Editions for $10 a pop!
Riverby Books, Fredericksburg, VA
More USA than World - but a great bucket list!

Doing some retail therapy to heal my poor, rejected soul. Good news is that I can now move on with my life. 🙌🏻 ALSO BOOKS. 📚
I‘m in Mississippi for their annual book festival. Since I have to travel to Mississippi, by car, I enjoy visiting literary sites. And bookstores. Last year I went to Arkansas to visit a bookstore - it was closed permanently. Today I went to Natchez to also visit a bookstore. It close permanently on May 31. Hey, Greenville Mississippi bookstores, watch out because I plan to visit you next year. #BookstoreKiller
Village Books in Lynden WA. Those floors and shelves are sooooo pretty.
The same bookstore in Phuket Town (called Bookhemian). Adore their door handle!!
