“He's the one. He must be.“
“He's the one. He must be.“
I would have this book in my classroom library as a free choice OR I would read this to my students at the end of the day. I think this story can capture an audience at any age and it gets the mind thinking about history outside of America (Greek and Roman).
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief was written by Rick Riordan in 2005. This is the first book in this series of 5. This book follows a young half-blood named Percy Jackson through the first of many quests. His quest is to return the stolen lightning rod to Zeus (who thinks that Percy stole it). The reader follows Percy as he makes friends, and enemies, and learns about his history as a half-blood.
This was so fun! It‘s a shame I didn‘t find this when I was the right age as I would‘ve absolutely devoured it!
Better late than never, right?
Since I liked the sbow so much I just had to give the series a go
…everybody—even monsters—needed a little attention once in a while
I don‘t quite know how to upload these group pics yet on phone but erm #Two4Tuesday is all over my feed so I just finished my 1st 5 💫 book@of year aka The Book Eaters for best read of January and am anticipating Percy Jackson in February. I think those were questions. May repost from desktop tomorrow with better formatting. Tah!
This was a fun and fast read. I love how this teaches young readers about the Greek myths whilst entertaining them. If you have a reluctant reader in your world I recommend this series...
Percy Jackson. And not just because the story‘s good. Or because of the upcoming Disney+ series.
I think this series, and the rest of Riordan‘s books, are going to be popular in the future because of Riordan himself. An author who has grown alongside his audience. Changing when he‘s told he‘s caused harm, using his platform to promote voices of marginalized communities.
#SundayFunday Have a wonderful day, and don‘t forget to tag me!
It‘s time for a comfort reread!

Hi, hello. I cannot be normal about this news. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 *Kermit flailing*
#BookAdaptations
I‘ve been trying to reread some YA for my middle school students. Starting out strong with the Lightning Thief! I‘m surprised at how well it held up after so many years. #YA #middleschool
The nibling stayed home sick with RSV, so we decided it was a good day to start Percy Jackson.
This story follows a 12-year-old boy named Percy while he learns that his true father is Posiden, the Greek god of the sea. Percy is given the task to find the lightning bold that belongs to Zeus. It is up to Percy because Zeus thinks that Posiden stole it.
Looking through these on Hoopla because I‘m hoping to use the GNs to pull in my reluctant reader nibling. The art is throwing me off a bit though. I know the realistic drawing is an established style in comics, but it‘s not really doing it for me. It feels too gritty for Percy Jackson, and some of them just look stuck together, like Annabeth‘s hat in this picture. Maybe it gets better in future volumes?
I love that I got these two books free at BN along with the fabulous new artwork for the Lightening Thief!
The story was good, but the book just felt very surface level to me. There weren't any moments where I thought to myself, "wow, I've never thought of stringing those words together in that way."
Perhaps it was just over-hyped to me and it didn't meet the expectations.
But it was definitely better than the movie!
Did I spend this month‘s book budget on the new paperback covers of the Percy Jackson series so I can read all five books to my nibling before the show drops?
Yes. Yes, I did. #NoRegrets #BookHaul
My precious *almost* 10 year old read book one of the Percy Jackson graphic novelizations today. He couldn‘t put it down! ⚡️ Books 2-5 are arriving soon.
PS. He will continue to wear this Pikachu onesie until it literally doesn‘t fit. Look at his wrists … there‘s not much time left. 😂

I had to re-read this series. I used to (and let's be honest still do) love this series it had everything I'd want in a book and then some. Being a mythology nerd it just clocked for me. Well when I heard they were remaking the Percy Jackson books into a series I thought what better time then now to pick it up again! Whose excited for the new series coming out?!
We have a #PercyJackson !!
The person I will become when this series comes out… I am already crying. I grew up with these characters, Annabeth, Thalia, Zöe, Rachel… All of my childhood heroes.

I'm glad I finally started this series! I wish I would have read it when it first came out, I was the perfect age for it then. But I still enjoyed it now. I loved how it explains all about Greek gods and mythology without it being overwhelming or boring. The quests were action packed and I enjoyed the descriptions of the underworld and Olympus. I'm looking forward to continuing the series

7/10 didn‘t know if I‘d be able to get into it. I had a few gripes but overall a good story.

#Studio42Books received a really cool request from a client to put together a set of leather covers for the Percy Jackson books. I'm really excited about this one, partly because I love the series, but also because there's so much cool Greek mythology art that's in the public domain. This means we probably won't need to hire an outside artist, and that I get to run point on the design! Now to skim the books and brainstorm... 🧡🧡
Rick Riordan worked as a middle school teacher (English and History, of course) for 15 years prior to writing the Percy Jackson books. How gorgeous is this set? 😍

Got home late last night from my trip to a couple national parks, so we‘re doing road trip questions today! 🚗💨
1. This was the first one I thought of! 😂
2. Mark Watney, funny, capable, could probably fix anything that went wrong with the car.
3. Space, definitely. Getting to see sights unseen by any human before? Sign me up!
#SundayFunday I hope you all are having a great summer (or winter in the Southern Hemisphere), and remember to tag me!
Love this book so much! Nothing lets my heart beat faster than Greek Mythology and this story puts it in such a modern way! I completely accept that the gods are living in New York. Halfbloods and monsters? Real as can be. Percy is not really behaving as a 12 year old, but that must be his goddly blood.
I'm completely ready for this series!
Day 27 #MayCharacters
Prompt: Mighty
Percy Jackson and all the kids at Camp Half-blood are mighty forces to be reckoned with

The graphic novel was good, pretty quick read, and gave me some visuals to supplement my internal movie reel. However, it skipped a LOT of the story. Necessary to work in this format and length, but it felt like I watched a tv episode rather than watching a movie in terms of content. I‘ll continue the series and see how it plays out.

I love the representation in this, with a large number of main characters having ADHD and dyslexia, but I'm not yet convinced that I'll love the series

Can‘t believe that I‘ve been missing out all this time. Had always heard others rave about this series, but I kept on putting it off. I decided that it was time to listen to it because I needed to know why it is so popular with our middle school kids.
The narration could‘ve been better in some parts, but overall it was good. It was a great story full of mythological creatures and beings, young brave heroes, and plenty of adventure.

Day 19 of #20Series20Days #Top20Series
This series was going to be on my list anyway, but my 4th grader started it yesterday for his daily free reading for virtual school... I‘m enjoying it the second time around just as much as the first!
My niece says Percy Jackson is better than #HarryPotter...
we'll see about that...
