It was the Dunning of times. It was the Kruger of times.
It was the Dunning of times. It was the Kruger of times.
StromThurmond read from a phone book. Ted Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham. Cory Booker spoke passionately for over 25 hours on the danger this country is facing. If you think this was a performance you‘re a moron
I get why it was marked down...this book was a hard pass . Halway through I didn't give a damn about what happened next or who did it
It was a little overly worded, which is a mood killer for me, but it was a great story. The aspects of race and racism were so well weaved into the story they felt like it's own character
I think I'm going to just isolate at home with my books
I'm sorry for all the doom posts, but I'm having a difficult time handling the onslaught of fear, uncertainty and unmitigated rage at the state of the world and the people making it happen. These simple posts help me process that
Found out how to create my own "Little Free Library " in my community....thinking I should do it & customer make it as a banned book library
Today marked the start of me buying all the books on this list...I bought 4 and they were all paperback. Maybe it's paranoia, but I need the physical copies ...for my kids or grandkids some day
I don't know how to rate this book, there were some good parts to it, some parts I enjoyed and then there were headscratching moments, painfully dull moments and outright nerve picking moments.
Any author who doesn't genuinely understand privilege, sexism, appropriation or any other social constructs is better off not discussing them. The instances of sounding flippant & ignorant just gave secondhand cringe.
This is my TBR pile is bare....mainly due to my need to escape this insane American reality whenever I can. So please ,would love recommendations of your favorite or last great book.
Please no recommendations for books of authoritarianism, delusional billionaires destroying society, theocracy replacing democracy, the nazi /white supremacy, or any stories pertaining to cheeto hitler
The more I read by this author the more I like her....and Dakota agrees
The characters, the Pacing, the writing and the story telling all combine to have you guessing who really did it before changing your mind
I loved this book when it came out and felt the connection to "Frannie" that everyone told me I would feel about Holden Caulfield...I enjoyed getting to step back into this world
Everyone debates the facts with subtle nuances , what aboutism & old fashioned gaslighting....I'm not debating if the South African immigrant did or didn't do a nazi salute (He totally did by the way), but the dismantling of the Department of Healths department of woman's health & reproductive rights in less than 24 hrs is fact. Can't wait for me Feb appointment to get my paperwork together to leave this country.
There was no twist, charcter development and the crime was so easy to figure out ....despite the over the top story it was a fun , easy and light read
Someone reminded me today was a good day to get re-acquainted with my digital library
I do love the day my book subscription comes ❤️
Was an interesting read and I learned a lot
This book has everything...romance, comedy, horror, vampire lore , and female empowerment.....problem is none of them are done well.
I know this author has some die hard fans, but the romance flat , the comedy bland, the horror meh, the vampire lore is lacking & the female empowerment a cliched trope. Also, the story is boring, some scenes are headscratchers the main characters are unlikable I don't even remember there being a plot
It was a little heavy handed, a little to drawn out and it definitely isn't horror....but it was a good story to cozy up with and spend the day reading
Well written, well paced and an overall good story...the formatting was a unique twist but I honestly found it distracting enough to lessen the enjoyment
Does anybody have suggestions what to do with books you'll never read again?
I could have absolutely hated it ,but throwing it out feels wrong 🤷♀️
Watching Christmas movies in my pj's while I Christmas shop and have 1 of these comes right behind curling up with a book
Got to be honest, this wasn't what I expected and I don't know how I feel about that
Sorry, I do not get the high praise and 5 star for this book & The Chill. I couldn't finish either of them, the writing is fine...but the male protagonists are insufferable and the story just does loop de loops. I also don't get classifying either as "horror" or "suspense"..they are sci-fi with a dab of creepy.
The book had a decent story and even semi acceptable twists ,but you'd probably see it coming....but the thing that gets me is it's over written ,over worded soliloquy of a character that gaslights themselves that they are the problem while they continue to so unhinged shit. It's a trope I'm so very tired of ...this crazy bitch believes she's guilty so she does multiple crazy bitch things to prove she's not crazy..please come up with something new
I'm never satisfied with any Horror or suspense story...it can always be better...but this pretty good
The writing was good and it was a quick easy read, but there was no real character depth. Characters either didn't develop or they were unlikable. The most explored character was absolutely unlikeable, at least for me. I've known enough sanctimonious hypocrites that I didn't need a POV from them. Also the book was filled with too many cliche troups to count....but it was well written
Revisiting the story before Season 3....and if you haven't done so by now, WATCH INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, on AMC.
It is simply amazing
It was Meh....it was ok, but underwhelming and even though it was well written I didn't give a shit about any of the characters
I genuinely hated the direction of the storyline after page 100, like you know what's killing these girls but the why or how it works is never answered. I wanted an explanation or answers. I deserved the answers, but I never got them.
Despite my annoyance at this I must confess the writing and characters left me completely enjoying the journey from start to finish
Some people discussed being let down and disappointed in this book. I assume it's in comparison of the authors previous works, but it was a good book. It was well paced and had lots of twists that made it an overall good read
The House of the Seven Gables has a hidden staircase in the chimney & I'm still impressed I climbed up that bitch
Of course there's a mini library between the House of the Seven Gables & Hawthorne's birthplace
A little surprise in the gardens if the Famous Ropes Mansion in Salem seen in Hocus Pocus
If anyone has read this let me know whqt you thought....I'm having such a hard time getting into and need to know if it's disappointing or the payoff is there.
This was definitely better received by my last book from this author....I haven't decided if I'm a gan or not, but at this rate my subscription box will provide me with all of her work
Finally have my own home office and it's coming together nicely....just waiting on the custome built bookcase
Nothing against the writing, because it was lovely, but this book was not my vibe. I tried to read it 8 seperate times. It was long, boring , confusing with little payoff...for me
If I explained this book it would honestly sound ridiculous, but trust me it was a great read
