Laura Lochner is always choosing the wrong men & they always leave her. After the breakup of her latest relationship, she goes to her sister, Rosie's, home in the Connecticut suburbs where they both grew up. Rosie is married to their childhood friend, Joe, & they have a young son, & Laura takes up residence in their attic room.

She decides to take a chance on a date with an older man, Jonathan Fields, & borrows Rosie's car. (Continued)

OutsmartYourShelf Rosie is concerned that Laura is jumping back into dating far too soon & when Laura hasn't returned by the next morning, her concern seems justified. Rosie delays in calling the police though as she is less worried that a man has hurt Laura, & more worried that Laura has hurt him. After all, it's not the first time.

I thought it started off well - the first 100 pages were riveting, but it soon turned pedestrian.
6mo
OutsmartYourShelf Laura (who seemed like she might turn out to be a bit of a badass at first) was revealed to be a drip who kept saying that she was going to leave the date as he was not being truthful with her, but kept talking herself into staying. Truthfully Rosie was a more intriguing character. If I had to sum up this book in two words it would be 'daddy issues'. 3⭐ for the good beginning. 6mo

CHALLENGE: NIGHT

A murder that followed Laura from her youth, a breakup via a text message, and a blind date.

Difficult-to-put down, well-carried out psychological suspense that will have you guessing but not guessing correctly.

If you enjoy characters that you won't be able to figure out, secrets kept, and a shocking ending, THE NIGHT BEFORE needs to be in your to-be-read stack.

Suspenseful but a lot of build up for what felt like a rushed ending. Not a terrible story but not a great one either.

Surprised by a couple of twists at the end but this one was difficult for me to keep interest. The suspense wasn‘t really there for me. I felt for Rosie more than I did Laura. Maybe if I had read it physically my response would be different. I would try another Wendy Walker book in the future. I really just wish it had been more thrilling.

Laura returns to her hometown to heal after a breakup. Then she starts to date again and disappears. The timeline moves back and forth between the events of her date and her sister‘s frantic search for her. A solid psychological thriller that I gobbled in a day.

LOVED this book. It was gripping from the start. It‘s told in dual timelines between two sisters, Laura and Rosie. Laura disappears after going on a date with a man she met online. Rosie is hesitant to call the police due to Laura‘s past and a traumatic childhood event. Can‘t recommend this enough. Thank you #Netgalley, #wendywalker and #orionbooks for an ebook ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Told in the alternating voices of two sisters, Laura who has moved back home after a bad breakup and is getting ready for a first date and Rosie, married with child who frantically searches for Laura when she doesn‘t come back from her date. A bit of a slow moving plot but the unexpected twists were more than enough to keep me reading until the end. Enjoyable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Booked2019 #Booked2019spring #nightorientedtitle

This was an entertaining book told from the perspectives of two sisters. One is married with a family and the other is living with them after a breakup. She goes on a date and doesn‘t come home. This sets off a chain of events, alsoH giving us flashbacks, as her family searches for her. A fun twist or two, a good ending and this makes for a good beach read.

5 crazy stars - what a heart-racing page turner. With so many unexpected thrills and chills I didn‘t want to put it down. The more I read the more unsure I became about Laura and the others motives. I kept asking myself is she guilty (I had already assumed she was a few blocks short of a load).. is her date a serial killer? I was in complete suspense. I loved it‘s very realistic wild twisty ride, fun fun fun!! An ace thriller not to be missed!!

I struggle with the psych thriller/unreliable narrator genre, but this was actually good! What I liked the most about this was that I kept wanting to turn those pages and it didn't do anything unnecessary to try and get a bigger WTF reaction (you know how some in the genre do that). The Night Before was believeable and that is HUGE to me.

There were many interesting reveals and several shocking moments that took place. I liked that Rosie‘s character was uncertain about her sister and it had her on a pendulum between concern and dread. She had truly no idea which way to lean and kept oscillating between feelings which kept me uncertain as to how I felt about the situation as well. That coupled with the insights from Laura‘s perspective gave this story a complex feel.

Walker‘s newest book will keep you guessing until the end. Like her previous books, Walker takes us into the dark side of human nature.

You quickly grasp that something here is just not right, but what is it? And who is it? You will be racing through the pages to find out what happens next. Who is the killer? It will keep you guessing as Walker masterfully leads us along, sometimes deliberately misdirecting us.

It's told from the perspectives of Laura and her sister Rosie thru two overlapping timelines. Throughout the story you get the idea that Laura is your typical angry woman who got into some trouble as a young girl and is trying to make a change in her life after a really bad breakup.Nothing is what it seems in this story and some of the characters aren't as crazy as you think and some are at a level of crazy that you don't quite see coming.

Let me just say that this book is banana pants! Overall a great psychological thriller.

Rosie has always been the good sister, worrying about troubled Laura. But when Laura goes on a date with a guy she met on the internet and doesn‘t come home the next day, Rosie starts to worry. The strange thing is, Rosie is worried about what Laura might have done to the guy.

The Night Before will be released on 5/14/2019.
