78 posts | 1 read
A vibrant prayer life unfolds when we regularly open ourselves to inspiration and God's grace. 2019: A Book of Grace-Filled Days provides a daily prayer experience to help us build and nurture our faith. Beginning with the start of the church year in Advent 2018 and continuing through the 2019 calendar year, this daily devotional notes major feast days, saint commemorations, and holidays. Each page combines readings from the Scripture of the day with reflections to provide a few minutes of solace for quiet prayer and meditation. 2019: A Book of Grace-Filled Days ?is an accessible and insightful way to deepen our connection to god's loving presence and fill each day with grace.?

I read fewer books than the last couple of years due to life getting in the way, but still did well. I raised my goal twice and still beat it by 4 books. ☺️

Challenges Completed:
#LitsyAtoZ
#Booked2019

Incomplete Challenges:
#Nonfiction19 - I got away from filling out my card - 13 read
#Graphicnovel19 - only read 16
Reading Women Challenge - only read 12 of 24

I got this cool new planner because bullet journaling was being a bit too much for me while I was already so overwhelmed with grad school. I hope this helps. I was also just informed that January 2019-December 2020 is my Saturn Return time. I don‘t know if I believe in astrology but it would be a good explanation for why I‘m such a mess. (Also that‘s the exact dates and duration of my schooling. Coincidence? Probably.)

I have read a record breaking 41 books so far this year (thanks, influenza!), so I thought I'd have a look at how I'm doing on my current reading goals.

I've read 13 books from the combined 1001 books to read / Guardian 1000 books / plays I want to read list that's my current #LifetimeReadingPlan . ✔️
I've read 4 science fiction / speculative fiction books. ✔️
But so far I've failed to read any of the long novels I set for myself. 😱

I‘m not planning any specific prompt based challenges this year, at least for now. I‘m going to try to read more of the books I already own (average of at least 2 a month) with an unofficial #MtTBR, continue reading books on the #1001books list, and keep up with my #CovertoCover postal book club. I also hope to keep reading with #LitsyBookClub and various readalongs. To start the year, those include #YearofTolkien and #Genji.

#2019ReadingGoals

SaturnDoo I had to get away from the prompt based challenges for a couple years. I ❤them, but they were time consuming and started robbing me of my joy. I mainly just do the mt tbr and others similar to it. 😊 good luck on your goals. You can do it!!!! 6y
tpixie Great goals! 6y
JazzFeathers I think a couple of easy challenges are ok, but since l tend to be very bad at them, l normally stay away from the most demanding ones. You seems to have a nice, doable plan. 6y
See All 11 Comments
Daisey @SaturnDoo Yes, I really enjoyed them for a couple years, but it‘s all just gotten to be too much. I want to make choices more on a whim over the course of the year. Thanks! 6y
Daisey @tpixie Thanks! That sending books on time might be the toughest! 6y
Daisey @JazzFeathers Thanks! I realized if I try a few, they just start taking over my book choices or trying to find appropriate books stresses me out. So, trying to keep it simpler this year. 6y
tpixie @Daisey lol yes!!! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yep! That‘s where I am too, the no prompts challenges. I‘m even pulling back a bit from #Reading1001 this year unless it‘s one already on my to read pile or accessible at the library. I‘m doing a NF challenge, but picking from books I already have, a #MountTBR also picking from my own books, and a series read catch-up which are all series on my personal to-read list. 6y
Daisey @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘m still considering the 1001books my main challenge for this year, but I have so many books on that list yet that I can pretty much get by with classics and library books. I‘ve never done Mt. TBR before, so giving it a try this year and starting small. 6y
Betty I agree with you @Daisey I‘m spending 2019 reading for fun, what I want when I want. Plus #covertocover because you gals introduce me to books I‘ve never heard of. It is a fun group 6y
Daisey @Betty So true! I hope to do some #CovertoCover reading today! 6y
