I am rereading the older books in the series alongside continuing with the new ones I haven‘t read yet. Meg is a blacksmith, and her craft features heavily (ha!) in both of these that are incredibly similar in setting and I just happened to read back to back! Falcon takes place at a Ren Faire and Flamingos at a Revolutionary Reenactment. In both you have Faulk (her mentor) & Tad, and Meg‘s dad as enthusiastic temporally-appropriate medical ⬇️

mabell representative. There are also the annoyingly avid anachronism police. Both are quite fun! 4mo
kspenmoll This series sounds like fun. Stacked! 4mo

Tamra I find it difficult to balance my desire to reread and read new books! 4mo
Librarybelle Yay!! I think my IRL book club is reading this one for December, and I immediately thought of your reviews for this series: 4mo
mabell @kspenmoll I love this series! Meg is a great protagonist, and there are lots of wacky supporting characters - along with equally wacky situations! 4mo
mabell @Tamra I tend to prefer rereading, so I consider it a success when I read a new book 😆 4mo
mabell @Librarybelle Oh fun! I haven‘t read this one yet, but I‘ll definitely be reading it (and maybe a couple other Christmas ones) this holiday season. I hope you all enjoy it! 4mo
Chrissyreadit what is the first book? i definitely want to read! 4mo
mabell @Chrissyreadit But don‘t get it! I‘ll send it with your birthday package! 😄🎉 4mo
Chrissyreadit ahh!!! you are so sweet! Did you get Sophie‘s package? 4mo
mabell @Chrissyreadit I don‘t think so - was it sent recently? 4mo
Chrissyreadit yes!! it should have arrived on tuesday i think. i will see if i can find tracking 4mo
mabell @Chrissyreadit We‘ve been visiting family this week, so usps and FedEx have been held. If it‘s ups or Amazon, hopefully they tucked it between the doors 😬 4mo

Megan Malone, American now living in Ireland, is immediately entangled in murder from page one, on a gold course. I‘m not a golf fan, so the golfing bits were a bit above my interest level, but I enjoyed the almost flirtatious banter between Megan and at least one of the characters. And, puppies! I may be a cat lover, but it‘s pretty fun to read a cozy with puppies. #192025 #2020 #52BookClub23 #AContemporarySetting #CatsOfLitsy #Zeke #Xander

I loved The Peripheral for its imaginative ideas and this sequel explores them further. It feels very much like a “middle book“ but is a pick all the same.

This is my first book finished for the #AwesomeAugust readathon and my #2020 selection for the #192025 challenge. It's also my #DoubleSpin book for the month.

4.75 ⭐

Not sure if it was me (tired easily atm), or the book but for some parts I kept drifting off. However, I did learn about H D, Jane Harrison & Eileen Power so still a pick.

Do you think I could use it for #nonpatriarchalsociety #pop22 #booked2022? Some of the women did get married but the emphasis is very much 'A Room of One's Own'. @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain @Kalalalatja @Cortg @Laughterhp @Megabooks @KarenUK

Cinfhen Yes!!! I think that‘s a clever choice 🤓 2y

39/22 This was a quick, easy listen that I picked up as a pallet cleanser. It did a pretty good job of keeping me guessing but I would say the character development was a little lacking to make it really good. One thing I will say is that I finished it a couple of days ago, and so immediately forgot everything about it that I had to go read a synopsis before I could remember the plot 😬! #192025 #2020 #roadtripusa2022 #massachusetts

When he is just 7 years old, the army kills Abdul‘s entire family and burns his home in Darfur. He flees to a refugee camp in #Chad. Via Lybia (another war) he manages to cross the Mediterranean and make it to England, a young boy with PTSD, all alone in the world. Today he is a British citizen and jockey of royal horses. Like his journey, his story is hard & emotional.

Librarybelle What a harrowing journey 3y
Cinfhen This was an emotional read but also hopeful @Librarybelle ♥️ 3y
BarbaraBB @Librarybelle You can say so. And so many young Africans who try to do the same don‘t succeed. This testimony feels really important 💔 3y
Megabooks Wow. That does sound very emotional. 3y

Oh how I loved this one! I totally agree with @Cinfhen ‘s review that this has Burial Rites vibes - it has an isolated atmosphere with dark undertones. And the writing style is brilliant. Full of storms and witches and women struggling to make it on their own in early 1600s Norway, this novel captured my interest right away. I just had to finish it this morning (and household chores can wait!). #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead ⬇️⬇️⬇️

It is true, our world is full of wonders and this book highlights a few miracles from the animal and plant world, the author connects them all to her own memories and sensations, but unfortunately, these links sometimes felt very forced and inorganic … otherwise - this is a nice collection of stories that can carry you in your own memory lane.

I really enjoyed reading this 2020 photography review from #NatGeo. They rounded up some of their best 2020 photos and told the stories not only of people around the world, but of the photographers themselves and how they navigated the pandemic and other events of the year. #NonFiction #Magazine #Photography #2020
