While pregnant with her second child, Cusk decides to write how it was to be pregnant and become a mother. Cusk gives the unfiltered truth according to her, and not everyone took lightly to that.

What I took away from is was that it doesn‘t matter how many books you read about this, your pregnancy and child will not the fit what‘s written. And how hard that can be to figure things out and how lonely it can being alone with a child.

AnneCecilie And how a mother‘s work never end. She ends when the kids are a couple of years and the work is just beginning. #2001 #192025 @Librarybelle 3mo

I am rereading the older books in the series alongside continuing with the new ones I haven‘t read yet. Meg is a blacksmith, and her craft features heavily (ha!) in both of these that are incredibly similar in setting and I just happened to read back to back! Falcon takes place at a Ren Faire and Flamingos at a Revolutionary Reenactment. In both you have Faulk (her mentor) & Tad, and Meg‘s dad as enthusiastic temporally-appropriate medical ⬇️

mabell representative. There are also the annoyingly avid anachronism police. Both are quite fun! 4mo
kspenmoll This series sounds like fun. Stacked! 4mo

Tamra I find it difficult to balance my desire to reread and read new books! 4mo
Librarybelle Yay!! I think my IRL book club is reading this one for December, and I immediately thought of your reviews for this series: 4mo
mabell @kspenmoll I love this series! Meg is a great protagonist, and there are lots of wacky supporting characters - along with equally wacky situations! 4mo
mabell @Tamra I tend to prefer rereading, so I consider it a success when I read a new book 😆 4mo
mabell @Librarybelle Oh fun! I haven‘t read this one yet, but I‘ll definitely be reading it (and maybe a couple other Christmas ones) this holiday season. I hope you all enjoy it! 4mo
Chrissyreadit what is the first book? i definitely want to read! 4mo
mabell @Chrissyreadit But don‘t get it! I‘ll send it with your birthday package! 😄🎉 4mo
Chrissyreadit ahh!!! you are so sweet! Did you get Sophie‘s package? 4mo
mabell @Chrissyreadit I don‘t think so - was it sent recently? 4mo
Chrissyreadit yes!! it should have arrived on tuesday i think. i will see if i can find tracking 4mo
mabell @Chrissyreadit We‘ve been visiting family this week, so usps and FedEx have been held. If it‘s ups or Amazon, hopefully they tucked it between the doors 😬 4mo

2001: A Space Odyssey | Arthur C. Clarke

Pickpick

While it is true that the AI is a better character than any of the human character and it is very dry, it does explain everything clearly and gives you a lot to think about. This is what books and Arthur C. Clarke can do really well. Ask big questions and really make you think.

Check out our discussion about it on our Mind Duck Books Podcast ep.60: https://bit.ly/3S8tGMB

While not as strong for me as others in the series so far, there are so many personal thoughts and feelings from the characters in this book. Shifting perceptions culminate in a disastrous conclusion. Close-knit village, murdered fishermen, and a Brunetti who tries to get to the bottom of the silence and secrets. Quick read for me. #192025 #2001

Inspector Rebus investigates the disappearance of a young woman who was involved in a mysterious online game. I liked the complexity of the mystery and the multiple facets of the investigation that involved several of Rebus's colleagues.

ShelleyBooksie I love this movie as well! I haven't read the book! 2y
Sresendez12 @ShelleyBooksie it‘s one of the few instances where the movie pretty closely followed the book! Highly recommend reading it! 2y

Ali‘s friend Kaunda doesn‘t cry when her husband dies. He had not been a good man and abused her so why should she be sad? Because her in-laws demand it, because that‘s the way things are supposed to go in rural #Namibia. Based on this main storyline, this novel explores the status of women in traditional Namibian society. A very good read. I am learning so much about Africa!

BarbaraBB @Billypar I felt that way too. I live in the city but we‘re having Easter break and drove towards the countryside yesterday. So much sky! 3y
BarbaraBB @Suet624 That would be fantastic! One day I‘ll come to Vermont and we will drive and talk and watch the scenery and listen to great music 🤍🤍 (edited) 3y

Set in Appalachian mountains this book perfectly combines intimate stories of people into the bigger story about nature and how fragile/sensitive eco-system is. Very nice story that makes you think about your own attitude towards nature …

Oh, how I loved this book!! I loved everything about it, especially all of the wonderfully fabulous literary references! I don't usually end up reading the sequels to books, but I have a feeling I'll read what happens next in the life of Thursday Next. 📚
