I am thankful for Dame Agatha. She introduced me to mysteries through the tagged book. I still find comfort in her mysteries and have branched out to thriller mysteries, cozy mysteries, historical mysteries…. It is my go-to genre.
#SundayFunday on Monday.
Detective Poirot has his work cut out for him when a man is found murdered just a few doors away. He and a wild cast of characters are snowed in and without access to regular law enforcement, it is up to Poirot to solve the crime.
Some of the leaps in logic felt a bit contrived but I was listening to the audio book so I might‘ve missed some things that made them make more sense.
Xenophobia aside (ahh the 1930s), I had a good time.
Spouse, son, and I enjoyed an excellent production of Ken Ludwig's stage adaptation of Agatha Christie's classic. A little late to be out on a school night, but it was worth it.
Murder on the Orient Express is really good, I became truly drawn into the book and interested in what would happen in the next chapters. In the book their are a bunch wealthy folks on a train. One night someone gets killed, their thank fully was a detective on the train. Agatha Christie wrote this book in third person, but not only is this book absolutely thrilling but it‘s also fun for yourself to guess who you think the killer might be!
It's Agatha Christie's birthday!!
What is your favorite book or fact about this amazing woman?
My favorite book is tagged, and I am always in awe remembering that she was a huge fan (and one of the first women!) of surfing 🏄♀️
Fall: Murder On The Orient Express - Agatha Christie. I enjoyed this book when I read it in Oct 2020.
Spring: The Secret Garden - Frances Hodgson Burnett. It‘s set during Spring but I read it last Fall and I enjoyed it.
Summer: Never Lie - Freida McFadden. I read this one over the summer and I enjoyed it.
Winter: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I reread it last Winter and I enjoyed it.

Re-read of an oldie but a goldie. Very entertaining on audio. 🛤️
This one‘s a little obvious, but it‘s a classic for a reason! #train #storysettings

2. My favorite way to prepare eggs is in the microwave. My mom taught me how to do it. I crack open 2 or 3 eggs in a cereal bowl, stir them up with a fork, heat them up for 1 minute, take them out and stir them up again. After that, I cut them up so they‘re scrambled, heat them up again for a minute and take them out. After that, I season them with salt and pepper or hot sauce.

“As regards the medical evidence, I think—er—that I made one or two fantastic suggestions.”
“Then,” said Poirot, “having placed my solution before you, I have the honour to retire from the case. . . .”

#WomensHistoryMonth ?????
Completed both my #ClassicsCountdown and my #FriendsPickForMe last month, and looking forward to my new reads this month.
This past weekend I went to an escape room and this was the theme! We were the detectives and had to solve the crime. And stop the train before it fell off the tracks! Made it out with two minutes to spare!!
#FreeLittleLibrary at Raintree Park!
I didn‘t take any books or leave any, but it‘s always neat to find a library wherever I go!

Thanks for the tag, @Eggs 🤗
1. Tagged: MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS by Agatha Christie
2. I am still trying to slog my way through WAR AND PEACE; I've been reading it since January. Does anyone have a translation that they'd recommend? Mine's just not cutting it.
3. My proudest achievement (not having kids) is teaching and surviving freshmen for 25+ years without losing my cool--too much. 😃
1. Tagged is my first foray into Agatha Christie and she didn't disappoint!
2. The writing, the who-dun-it, Hercule Piorot's wit and 'little grey cells' at work. All of it in general.
3. Anywhere in England, or scenic settings in general.
@Eggs #WonderousWednesday
1. I would like to ride on the Orient Express (without the murder)
2. Yes
3. Probably either Yellowface or The Marriage Portrait

I‘ve seen the different movies a lot of times and knew what to expect but still the book is always better. Since I have a daily commute of 1.5 hours now, I spent less time reading but more time listening. I like the Agatha Christie‘s story because you never know the culprit (because Poirot always has extra information).
So we are selecting a new thriller book for our #Thrillercorner series over on Patreon. The genre this time around is murder mystery, or "who dunnit". These are what I have so far...
Seemed a bit dry because of the procedural aspect but I found the ending good. We should make rail travel like this again. 😁
Ah, book club picked this in response to reading The Moonstone, apparently the first detective novel published.
Agatha Christie is such a prolific writer, I think I grew up reading her books and watching adaptations.
The impossible could not have happened, therefore the impossible must be possible in spite of appearances.
Had to finish before bed! A gem from the Queen of “whodunnit”. Quick and easy to read, with short chapters. Clues perfectly layered throughout the novel to keep you guessing with a final plot twist to complete the puzzle. Great way to start 2023‘s year of reading!
Glad I never saw any movie before reading this, so the ending was not spoiled in the least. Definitely one of Christie's best; she is incredible with the locked room novel, though in this case, of course, it's a train. A classic whodunit with the required detective tropes. One thing though: lots of prejudice here between men/women, rich/poor, royalty/everyman, even against nationalities. Perhaps typical for the time and where it was written.
Hoping I did this correctly! Am almost finished with MURDER, so a good start to 2023!
Thanks again, @TheAromaofBooks for doing this for us! 🤗
repost for @Mitch:
I‘m recently rediscovered my love of crime fiction - and I‘m unearthing some golden age gems! Thinking of setting up a monthly Litsy bookclub. Super simple and low key - we read a book each month and then at the end of the month I post 3 or 4 prompts to get us talking about the book. Anyone interested?????
Let me know below if you‘d like to join in and if there‘s enough interest I‘ll get us started with our January book asap!
I listened to this one on a roadtrip today. I really enjoyed the narration! The story was good, but I kept thinking 1. These characters would be really fun to perform on stage and 2.The game Clue kept popping in my head ‘Mrs. White in the ball room with the pipe‘ 😂
#pop22 ~ a book that takes place on a train
It was five o, clock on a winter‘s morning in Syria. Alongside the platform at Aleppo stood the train grandly designated in railway guides as the Taurus Express.

Dan Stevens can read me a bedtime story anytime.
I listened to this one on Libro.fm for a book club and Kenneth Branagh does a great job with all of the different accents. I recommend this version and I don't think it's available on Audible. It starts out slow, but it picks up and the ending is phenomenal.
This is mostly so-so for me as it dragged in the beginning, and I already knew who did it, because it‘s a popular one.
My first Poirot's book!
I already watched the movie adaptation and liked it, so I really hope I will enjoy the novel as well!
Just started the tagged book for #NWC. Hoping it's as good as the movie.

🍁 Am auzit de Agatha Christie, cine nu a auzit? Dar aceasta este prima ei carte pe care o citesc. Sper sa urmeze și altele.
Day 20 of #scarathlondailyprompts is murder. I read this about five years ago. I often forget how a mystery plays out, but this one I remember because it is so superbly written that it has stuck with me.
#TeamSlaughter #scarathlon
#ScarathlonDailyPrompts #Day20 #Murder The perfect book for this prompt, and an almost perfect Dame Agatha. As a locked room mystery, it‘s brilliant & you find yourself on the side of the murderer/s! #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts
I‘m deeply ashamed to admit I‘d not read this one before, but what a delight now that I‘ve finally caught up with the masses.
Fun, fast, and about a crime that you don‘t really mind happened since the “victim” was a monster.
Plus, I finally get why Hercule Poirot is so beloved.
Looking forward to watching at least one of the adaptations this weekend — open to recommendations as to which one is best!
I‘m not going to recap the plot because this is a classic and even those who haven‘t read it are at least somewhat aware of/familiar with it. I‘ll just say that I read this book many years ago and I still remember every plot point and every twist and turn because it‘s literally that memorable. Agatha Christie remains the queen of mystery decades after her death. A brilliant, classic, memorable, expertly crafted novel!
