Happy Thanksgiving, litsy peeps
Starting some historical fiction, which I haven't read in quite some time.
An annual adventure with a high school friend ~ meeting between homes in Michigan & Indiana. Yesterday was opening day for the 100+ year old carousel. The middle horse in the top photo was carved by the original creator‘s son and found in Michigan. My 6 hour round trip drive 😳 was made bearable by listening to the tagged book.
What an interesting life - first being married to the famous (or infamous) Charles Lindbergh; second finally finding her own ‘voice‘. And of course the kidnapping of their first born son. HF

PROMPT: AIRPORT OR AIRPLANE
Anne Morrow the quiet, unassuming daughter.
Anne Morrow the shy sister of Elisabeth Morrow who hid in Elisabeth's shadow.
Anne Morrow.....who did marry and who married a famous man....Charles Lindbergh, behind whom she continued to be a shadow.

Fantastic HF exploring the life of Anne Morrow Lindbergh. She was a fascinating person in her own right, although she was usually overshadowed by her husband.
This was my first Melanie Benjamin novel. I found her writing to be quite excellent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to these Litsy folks for today‘s prompt:

Have you read this gem?
@melaniebenjamin_author
Book club book for work. Took sometime to get into it and as someone not all that familiar with the Lindbergh‘s it had me researching into their real lives.
My friend and I have started our own little “book club” featuring the two of us on FaceTime. This is our newest read and I‘m excited to get into it 😊

What reading looks like when you have a nursing babe 🙃
Finally managed to down load an audio book. It‘s from the library and love how easy it is. I‘ll be doing it again. This book is based on some facts. Has made me want to know more about Charles Lindbergh and Anne Morrow and their children. I have Anne‘s book Gift from the sea. One copy with my name in it , I let go years ago. Found it again in an op shop far from home. I bought it as I felt it wanted me to keep it! 😊. @MrsMalaprop
RL book club book and I'm struggling. Really dislike that the main character is so passive. I know kowtowing to your husband was what was done back then but seriously? Half way through and I will finish it but grudgingly.
I enjoy Benjamin's writing, but I found Anne to be frustrating in her submissiveness.

Got a chance to meet Melanie Benjamin tonight and it was a treat. Cant wait to read more from her since she writes interesting historical fiction. This year will be my year to not only expand my reading horizons but to hopefully meet authors.
Did not make it through 1 chapter of this. The main character kept referring to her father as Daddy, the author introduced two characters within paragraphs of each other, one called Connie and the other called Con, and there was a glaring grammatical error that stopped me in my tracks. After looking at some reviews on Goodreads I decided to put the (e)book down and back away slowly.
@MrBook thanks for the tag!

Occasionally when we read Items or memories pop up from our childhood. To see Vicks VapoRub on the page brought back many memories of colds where mom spread Vicks under my nose and all seemed so much better.
This idea, thought, premise has launched a thousand, dare I say, a million books.
I really enjoyed this book! After reading only one (1) book in April, May is already looking better! This was one of my #MountTBRChallenge titles
Time for some romantic historical fiction. I‘ve been reading lots of thrillers lately and I‘m looking for something deeper. Let‘s hope this fits the bill! #MountTBRchallenge @DivaDiane
Today‘s #librarysale #bookhaul. 17 books for $9.00. As usual I already had some of these. I need a better system.
But, that just means more books for the little free libraries and more gifts for other Littens. 🎁
Oh, and a stop at the bakery.
I enjoyed this compelling novelization of Anne Morrow Lindbergh's life more than I expected to. Like the rest of #GroupQ I hated pretty much everyone in this book, but for some reason, that didn't keep me from enjoying it. Did this make anyone else curious to read some of Anne's writing?
@JenlovesJT47 It will be on its way home tomorrow, accompanied by my pick for Round 2 of #LMPBC
Charles Lindbergh: what a dick!!
Well, at least I have a good book to keep me company. #groupq #ineedsoup #subplansdone #litsypostalmarkupbookclub
I just realized that I never reviewed this book😕.
I feel like I have a love-hate relationship with this book. On the one hand the writing and story are great. The book is wonderfully written. On the other hand the characters anger me. I wanted to throw this book against the wall so many times. The thing I really like about this book is that it gave me the chance to examine exactly what about these people made me feel this way. #lpmbc #groupq
This was an okay book for me. I didn't know much of anything about the Lindbergs before reading this and it did make me want to look more into them-- which as M. Benjamin writes in the afterwards is what she hopes to inspire readers to do.
However, I have no love for Charles Lindberg after reading this. And while Anne Marrow Lindberg grew as a woman she was still frustrating to read about.
The thing I love most about Melanie Benjamin's books is that it opens up a whole new world for me, always making me want to learn more about the real characters in her novels. The Aviator's Wife is no exception. The Lindberghs were very interesting people, with lives filled with both triumphs and tragedies. I can't wait to start reading some of Anne Lindbergh's books. Would highly recommend anything by Melanie Benjamin. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#historicalfiction
Got some company as I try to finish my #LMPBC tonight! Since I can't sleep because of this chest cold, might as well squeeze in some reading. Marnie and Maverick say hello! Happy reading! #catsoflitsy #historicalfiction #GroupQ #LitsyAfterDark 😴😺❤️
Nala and I are diving into this a bit late (time got away from me, I'm so sorry!), but it will be mailed out on Friday to the next person in my #LMPBC #GroupQ

❄Always. Dark chocolate is a plus. Or with Carmel.
❄Neither, I don't use them.
❄Neutral generally, I do like a pop of color or gold.
❄All of them. Socks, blanets, sweaters, I am a bundle.
❄I only have one, I just had to have Willie Wonka..Gene Wilder version. But that are cool, just don't have too much of an urge to collect.
Trying to decide which to take with me on a quick beach trip next week. Any suggestions??
Seemed fitting to read this at 30,000 feet. #planeread ✈️

This was exactly what I needed to satisfy my historical fiction craving. The Aviator's Wife is emotional, lyrical, and breathtaking, getting deep into the head and heart of Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Her story is inspiring on a number of levels; the ending unexpectedly moved me to tears. Definitely pick this up if you get the chance! #review #booknerd #historicalfiction #strongwomen #bibliophile

This needs to get better or it's going to lose me. So far, it's a little too romance-y for my taste.

To the paparazzi and the world, Anne and Charles Lindbergh were the epitome of #SmugMarrieds, but Anne definitely didn't feel smug about her marriage to the famous aviator.
This book filled me with so many different emotions. From anger to frustration to sorrow. I was just frustrated reading this book!! I hated the way he treated his wife and kids. If you want a historical fiction I recommend it. Now I want to go read more about the Lindbergh's.
In the pouring Rain I have discovered Anne Lindbergh!
