“Don‘t cry over the same thing twice. Get it all out the first time, even if it‘s loud and messy. Then it‘s over.” ~Weylyn, BoEC, pg 94
Love this philosophy. If only I could actually implement it...
Saturday afternoon reading. I finished this one today. It‘s a creepy story perfect for October. 👻
Starting this one tonight, with a little baseball thrown in. 🙂
Not yet finished, but already this is one of my favorite middle grade books ever. 😍
Football and a book. What are you reading this weekend?
Tonight: reading and laundry. What are you up to? 🙂
Isn‘t this just one of the most beautiful covers you‘ve ever seen? 😍😍 #beautifulbooks
Brand new book! 😍😍 This one will be great to read heading into Halloween. 👻 👻 👻
A surprisingly heart-wrenching and uplifting read. Slow-going in the beginning, but worth the payoff.
Enjoyed this one. It was a different read for me and a welcome change.
I finished A Calf Named Brian Higgins by Kristen Ball today. What a great read!
We celebrated Mother‘s Day today with a piano recital from my daughter. It seems appropriate that I finished this book just yesterday. It‘s a fantastic story, told in verse, about Ivory, a 10-year-old piano savant. The story was moving and so, so well written. 🎹
Finishing off my Mother‘s Day with a little Dorothea Benton Frank. Have you read it? Yay/nay?
Happy Saturday night. 🙂
I liked this story because I thought the author did a great job of creating plucky characters in Lou Lou and Pea. I enjoyed their stick-to-itness and I enjoyed their friendships, both with one another and with other people in the town. The only drawback of this story was this: I wished the villains didn‘t seem quite so much like caricatures. Sometimes I found their actions and motivations to be less than believable.
“I think a lot of science can seem like magic before it‘s explained properly. Sometimes we don‘t have the observations, the data, or the right words yet to explain it. Surely there was a time long ago when people watched a butterfly emerge from a chrysalis and thought it was magic.”
I‘ve got lots of flying time ahead of me, so I‘m getting started on this audiobook.
Good morning from Hawaii. 🌴🌴 I‘m reading this one while listening to the waves crash and waiting for the sun to come up.
I listened to Beneath a Scarlet Sky on audiobook and thought it was wonderful. The fact that it was true greatly enhanced the story for me.
I can already tell I‘m in trouble with this book. I‘m 23 pages in and I know I‘ll be up all night reading it.
“Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.”
Finally reading this. It‘s been calling to me for quite some time, and I‘m already flying through it.
Sunday night reading. I have an Ellie at my house, so my girls are excited that I‘m reading this one. It‘s out Tuesday. Thanks to Kid Lit Exchange for the preview copy. #partner
About Sunday morning. What are you reading?
About tonight.
Thanks to The author (Jesica Shattuck) and the publisher/imprint (William Morrow) for this copy.
Have you read it? Thoughts?
One upon a time I saw this book all over Instagram. On a Target trip, I stopped to take a look at it.
I put it back on the shelf, thinking that I probably wouldn‘t enjoy poetry.
Several months later, I picked up a free Kindle Unlimited membership. I saw that Milk and Honey was free as part of the KU program.
Still curious, I decided to pick it up. Ten minutes later, I was in tears. This collection is incredible and moving and so important.
How many of you are doing the same thing I am right now? 😜
My #botm box came today. I‘ve been catching up on some of the books I missed a while back, and I‘m super excited about The Woman in the Window. So many good reviews! #bookofthemonth
Lilac Girls has been taking me forever to read because I keep falling down the Wikipedia rabbit hole. I‘m enjoying this story, but I keep wanting to look everything up!
It‘s not very often that I request books from Netgalley these days, but man, I loved Jessica Knoll‘s first book, and I just couldn‘t wait to get my hands on this one. I‘m about four chapters in right now and so far, so good. ❤️
I finished my second book of the year today. The Witch of Blackbird Pond is a classic, and I can‘t believe it took me so long to get to it. The book tells the story of 16-year-old Kit who, before the Revolutionary War, relocates from Barbados to Connecticut, where she struggles to adjust to her new Puritan life. Great read.
Look at what came out today, Littens! So excited to share this story with the world. 🙂🙂🙂
“Somewhere in a corner of our hearts, we are always twenty.” ❤️❤️
I finished my first book of 2018 today. 🎉 Prodigal by Rektok Ross follows high school senior Lexy as she navigates her senior year of high school in a new place, with new friends, and with new life circumstances. It‘s a cute story and I enjoyed it. 🙂
Have you seen these lamps before? This is one of the two coolest things I got for Christmas. #ilovelamp
#2018goals @Wbabdullah
1. I read 84 books this year, so I‘m going to shoot for 100 in 2018, I think. 😬
2. Lilac Girls. I started it last night. Is that cheating?
3. I have to new chapter books coming out in 2018. Grandma and the Willow Tree will be out in January. 😁
4. I haven‘t signed up for any - still trying to observe how they work.
5. My coffee mug, always and everywhere. 😜
Happy 2018, Littens! #happynewyear
I‘ve been on a long car ride today and listened to the audiobook of Reckless Magic by Rachel Higginson. It took me a while to get into it, but i loved the end of it. I will definitely read/listen to the next books in the series.
One of my favorite quotes. I like to read the popular books of course, but I try to throw in something a little different once in a while. 🙂
My #bookclub is reading Lilac Girls this month.
I received it@for Christmas, so I‘m going to get started on it now! #18toreadin2018
“Obscenity is the distinguishing hallmark of a sadly limited vocabulary.”
Love this quote. ❤️
Also a new Christmas gift I‘m excited about. 😍 #18toreadin2018
