Welcome to Litsy!

I‘ve had this ARC for a while and finally read it. I loved it! Tilla is such a strong female lead, and her band of bastards - Jax, Miles, and Zell, along with their accidental companion, Lyriana, were very well rounded and likeable. I found myself turning the pages with anticipation in this fast-paced adventure. Now I‘m looking forward to reading the next two books in this series.

Today's read!

I enjoyed this, it made me laugh at the snark, wince at the teenage angst and hold my breath when fictional characters lives were on the line. By no means a perfect read (as many Goodreads reviews attest - this is a book that seems to veer between one and five stars reviews), I liked the concept and since I purchased it in 2017 (😅🙄) the rest of the trilogy has been published - I can (theoretically) keep right on reading.

I loved this book! It has action, heartbreak, love, loss, death, bloody battles, an adventure that makes the whole cast grow and mature so much.
This one deserves much more recognition than it gets! 5 out of 5 stars!

I liked this more than I thought I would. The story was fast paced. I didn't know what to expect next. The main character's voice got on my nerves a lot and did not jive with the genre. "LIKE, YA KNOW?" It also annoys me when the antagonist spills his secret/plan all too easily toward the end. Overall, this is a pick.

So far so good. The voice of the main character gets on my nerves but I'm enjoying the story.

Book binge book 3... What a book! I mean my background music was definitely not suited to the storyline but that‘s okay because the story made me not listen to my music. So many emotions running through me.

Tilla, the bastard daughter of Lord Elric Kent, wants to earn her father‘s love and be legitimized as his true heir. But when she and a group of fellow bastards sneak out after a feast, they witness their parents, commit a horrific act of treason. Framed for a murder and sent on the run, the bastards band together, realizing they alone have the power to prevent a war that will tear their kingdom apart, if they can survive the journey...

This book was so much more than I anticipated; it had more energy, more action, more gruesome ends and more pulse raising horrors- from the shudder inducing cave dwellers to the horrific aftermath of war. A gripping, fast paced read. Fair warning- parts of the book make uncomfortable reading, particularly those with a gentle disposition and a completely understandable aversion to our eight legged friends!

I‘ve had this on my list for so long and I finally took the plunge today. Super easy, fun read. I‘m ready for Book 2. Now back to watching Alabama dominate 😬

I picked this up from the library thinking it would be a quick, throw away read. It was a quick read; I devoured this book! It was so much more than I was expecting and I can't wait for the next in the series!

I felt that if the book had been a bit longer it could have had a little more depth to it, but otherwise it was a great read.

It was my bath time read. Very easy to digest, with easy stop and start points, until the last 3/4 of the book. Couldn't put it down even for a snack break.

. . . I did a bad thing. I bought another book and it's still July . . . So here's book number 8 of my July haul. 😅😂😌

I really enjoyed this book! Although there a couple of little things that bugged me. I'm also fairly sure i'm overly salty about a character death 😂

My full review is on my blog but this is a great debut with loads of originality to it! I'm looking forward to book two!

I finished reading this one two weeks ago. I liked the characters (especially Zell) and the whole plot! I loved how Tilla and her friends each have their own inner battles, it makes them so relatable. There is so many great things about this book. The only thing I didn't like was that it felt like it was over pretty quickly. I feel like on their journey, more things should've happened. The big final fight scene was almost anti-climatic.

I loved Royal Bastards!! In the beginning I thought maybe this book was meant for younger readers but as I continued that was definitely not the case! This book had me laughing throughout and then there were moments I was close to tears! This book has it all...friendship, family, betrayal, love, adventure and magic! Can't wait to read the next book!!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the beauty that is the book map for Royal Bastards? 😍 The blood splatter is a nice touch too. 😉

Friendship, love, running-for-their-lives, danger lurking around every corner and of course betrayal. I loved how Tilla figured out what she wanted in the end and that she chose to save innocents, not play the political game. Strong character by the end, oh and a little bit of romance. :)

This book was such an amazing adventure! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was fast paced, the characters are amazing, and the world building is beautifully done. I need to know more about Lightspire and what happens to my precious babies.
