I‘m still reading the tagged book for #realmofelderlings. I‘ve started it but I don‘t know when I‘ll get back to reading it because I started reading The Starless Sea and it‘s longer than this book. I‘m borrowing The Starless Sea from Libby but I need to read it fast because it‘s due in 10 days. The due date is March 19. I have plenty of time but I like returning books early as soon as I finish them so the next person can start reading the book.
I originally read this book in 2019. It was and still is the only book I‘ve read by Robin Hobb. Because I read this so long ago, I didn‘t remember a thing about it! So it was like reading a new book to me. I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did last time, but this time I plan to actually continue the series.
#realmofElderlings
The first ΒΎ of this book are very slow and then it speeds up at the end.
It's the recollections of a royal bastard starting from when he was very young. His memories become clearer as he becomes older, though not always.
Fitz is not a reliable narrator. Whether that is deliberate or because memories are fallible. It's interesting to grow alongside him and learn what he finds value in and the people and events that shaped him.
Hobb created this world and these characters with so much love and care, that everything becomes real. This past week or so I've been living in Six Duchies, sharing in Fitz's journey from boy to man. And I'm more than ready to follow him into the next phase of his life.
If this is only the beginning I know I'm in for purely delightful adventure.
I‘m currently reading this book for the #realmofelderlings readalong and I haven‘t made any more progress in the book. I like what I‘ve read so far. Maybe next month, I‘ll finish this book or at least make more progress in it. It takes me a long time to read big books over 500 pages and I think all of the books in this series are over 500 pages.
Book and dinner: I threw a few handfuls of spinach into my usual red sauce with turkey pasta, and it turned out so good!
I'm almost done with book one in the Farseer trilogy. I definitely liked the Liveship trilogy better because of the pacing & POVs, but this is still a great read.
#BookandBreakfast of banana pancakes & bacon on this fine snow day! I read the first chapter of Assassin's Apprentice before bed last night and it very well be my favorite first chapter I've ever read. I got immediately sucked in and I cannot wait to read more about Fitz.
First time re-reading this series. I loved it all when I first read it and reread is the same. This time though I'm listening to the audiobook read impressively by Paul Boehmer
Yes, I cried again.
#RealmofElderlings @PuddleJumper
I'm basically reading the Realm of the Elderlings series in Star Wars order. I breezed through books 4, 5, & 6, and now I'm going back to 1, 2, & 3! I LOVED The Liveship Traders, but I feel like I would've loved Ship of Destiny *that* much more if I'd gotten the references to the elderling cities. Oh no, is that an excuse to go back and re-read it?! Darn!
I‘m reading this book for the #realmofelderlings readalong and it‘s good so far. I‘m going to come back to this book but I want to take a break from this book for a while and read a bad boy sports romance series that I have chosen on my Kindle to finish this month. I enjoyed the first book in the series but I never continued with the series.
Visited the 2nd-hand bookstore this morning to ready myself for the #RealmOfElderlings read along
I think I made a good start. π
@PuddleJumper
I just started this book. I only read the first chapter and it was interesting. I don‘t feel invested in this story yet but I‘ll read at my own pace and keep going. My plan is to read some of this book while I‘m reading other books. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve read a fantasy series. My first fantasy series was A Song Of Ice And Fire and my second fantasy series was Lord Of The Rings.
#realmofelderlings
I‘m going to be participating in the #realmofelderlings readalong hosted by PuddleJumper. I just finished a book club book I was reading and now, I‘m ready to start this book next. I won‘t finish it this month but I want to at least start it. This kinda sounds like A Song Of Ice And Fire because ASOIAF has a bastard named Jon Snow and this series has a bastard named Fitz and both series have kingdoms and knights and things like that.
I‘m joining the #realmofelderlings readalong this month. We‘re reading Assassin‘s Apprentice. I‘m interested to see what I think about this series. I‘ve never read Robin Hobb. I‘ve heard of this series because Becca And The Books on YouTube has talked about the series on her channel and her book club The Catchup Book Club read the series but I didn‘t read it when they were reading it because I wasn‘t ready to commit to it yet.
Dug out my musty copy so I‘m ready to go! How I wish I could‘ve afforded the fancy Folio editions from a few years back.
It is nearly time to start reading Assassin's Apprentice!
This is running on Litsy and Storygraph and there are different ways you can get involved, or not get involved, it is all optional

Getting ready for #RealmofElderlings by finding my copies
The grey one is my original book from when I was a teenager. It is so tiny, the font is tiny and I squint when I look at it
The other copy is my nice copy and I don't want to ruin it ... By reading it? π€£
Repost for @PuddleJumper
This is the first planned reading schedule for #RealmofElderlings
Iβm giving 2 months for books over 500 pages which is pretty much all of them! This means it will take about 2 years to get through the entire series.
We'll be starting with Assassin's Apprentice in February, there will be a buddy read and readalong on SG and I'll post start, mid, end posts on Litsy

It could change depending on how people find it.

Would anyone be interested in a Realm of Elderlings readalong/monthly buddy read? I haven't read the last few series and I want to and I also want to obsess over them
Also, which series would you start with? Because I started with the Liveship Traders and then read the Farseer trilogy. I think Liveship Traders is easier to get into
It‘s a good summer to revisit some old favorite authors for me.
We do many things in our latest episode. Select a December book of the month, dissect the modern educational system, and mull over starting a bumper sticker company. Enjoy!

1/5β I was willing to give it a chance despite not connecting with the characters but stopped 10% in at the casual pet murder and an idiot adult expecting a 6 year old to understand what he was talking about without any explanation. #roll100
Things have been a bit trying lately, so going for the comfort re-read and food. #WeArePack
π§ I loved this book! I wasn‘t sure if I would. It‘s well written. Epic fantasy. Fitz is a typical kid, if not a little too perfect at times. A bastard Prince used as a pawn by his grandfather & uncles. Nosy & Smithy bring added depth and interest. I‘ll be adding book 2 to my TBR. If you haven‘t read it, you probably should.

Another gorgeous day! I am taking advantage of this weather for as long as I can! Took a nice walk during my lunch break today! πΏππ
I managed to snag a comfy window seat in my downtown coffee shop this morning! πππ
It is in the 40's here today so I took my first walk in the woods of the new year! πΏππ There was still some snow in the ground, and everything was a bit slippery, but it was SO worth it! I got to read on my favorite bench for a bit too! It really made me remember how much I love reading at the park and now I'm even more excited for spring to arrive!
A grounded, character-driven fantasy that relies on the strength of its worldbuilding and the humanity of its inhabitants to tell a believable, engrossing story.
I really really love a good fantasy map! πππ
Having already read the Rainwilds Chronicles, I scoured this map to find familiar territory and was super excited to see the Rain Wilds and Bingtown! Seeing places I've already read about felt like coming home! π
I have been SO inspired by Rae's enthusiasm for this series that I decided to reroute my current Hobb reading trajectory and go back to the beginning and start these next! I have read the Rain Wilds Chronicles and LOVED them, so I'm excited to read the rest of the books in the right order! π₯°ππ Thanks @RaeLovesToRead ! #catsoflitsy #chaplin
It took me while to settle in, but once I had I rattled thro‘ - simply loved being in this world with Fitz.
It felt disturbingly current in places - Chivalry stepping away from his princely role, the powers that be appearing to do nothing in the face of threats to their people. And the misting felt very close to home!
The world she built is quite wonderful - even as a not-a-great-fantasy-reader, I can see myself coming back v soon for part 2!
Assassin's Apprentice had superb character development.
Next year as a challenge to read what I own and to thin out my shelves I asked @ripley_reads (thank you!!) to randomly select 12 numbers from my total number of unread books. I have a year to read these books, or I have to unhaul them if I don't.
This is the chosen stack! Some I'm excited for, others I'm scared of (I see you Robin Hobb) but I think this will be a fun way to read what I own! See any greats?

I don‘t normally do graphic novels but I may have to change my mind!
I last read this twenty years ago, and honestly, I remembered that I loved it but not much else about it. It deserves every bit of hype that it has ever received. It is a wonderful book that had me guessing, fretting, speculating, and flat out worrying about Fritz, the protagonist, well past the end. In fact the 2nd book is going to get bumped and read rather quickly now as well. This is a fantasy masterwork. Full stop.
Just saw this on Robin Hobbβs FB page. Dark Horse Comics has adapted the series, to be released in December:

βShe made a dagger for her father‘s birthday, with a grip like a leaping stag, and yet done so cleverly that it‘s a comfort in the hand, with not a jag or edge to catch on anything. Now, that‘s a bit of beauty that will live on long after her hair grays or her cheeks wrinkle. Someday her grandchildren will look at that work and think what a clever woman she was.β

I bought book 2 a while ago not knowing it was a trilogy series. Because I liked the cover. Thanks to ebay now I've got them all. Hopefully I'll read them at some point this year since I've heard good things.

The books whose worlds have infringed on my daily living the most are usually fantasy ones! So stories from the realm of the Elderlings or Westeros gets me hung up and wishing I was back there when they finish...
Best part of a week? Getting to go back to sleep on a day off π
Worst part of a week? Having to wake up π
