Sword of Destiny | Andrzej Sapkowski
Pickpick

I finished my first #BookSpin read! This book is setup very similar to the first one, The Last Wish. I liked it and I'm liking how the stories are starting to build upon each other with the theme of destiny. I'll eventually start book 3, but not quite yet. So far I've been very happy with The Witcher series.

Went in the pool with hubby and my son earlier today, and now the only decisions I want to make for the rest of the evening are whether to game or read. Why not both? 😁

The first half of this book is an absolute slog, which is crazy because we're like 5,000+ pages into this series. BrandoSando made a strategic error, imo, by committing himself to real-time story-telling. This requires him to set this entire novel over the course of just ten days! Why???

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the best fantasy I‘ve read in a while, considering I binge-read all three books in less than a month!

Chrissyreadit The first one is on my shelf- and i‘m planning to get this read in 2025! 6d

Verity nodded slowly. 'And he is mine.'”

A character-driven novella about a magical forger with the heart of an artist and a court official who will do anything to save the life of the Emperor, and how they each must make tiny bargains against their own morals in order to ultimately do what is best for the Empire. 4/5 ⭐️

I fell behind on this part for a bit. Summer is so busy. And so hot. Yuck. I‘m just finishing up the interludes today. But that was an action packed section wasn‘t it? And I loved the scene with Wit. I hope there is more of that to come. #CosmereBuddyRead

Leniverse I haven't read the interludes yet either, but I have a lot to say! This section showed no consideration for my poor nerves! 😅 I keep worrying that Kaladin will turn to the dark side and become a Sith Lord instead of a Jedi. Only, that would probably kill Syl and he'd lose his powers, so he can't really go Sith, can he 🤔 1w
Leniverse And I feel like a right plonker. I didn't realise Gaz was... Gaz until Bridge 4 recognised him. I'd forgotten all about him going missing 🤪 And I was clearly wrong about the origin of Shallan's shardblade (and isn't that situation a right mess?!) My new theory is that she simply manifested it with her powers, which would make it a blade that Kaladin could wield (not that I can see her lending it to him). And on that note: 1w

Leniverse I find it extremely frustrating how much clearly important stuff Shallan is actively repressing. A bit impressed by it too. That ability to just not hear or think about certain things. But bleedin' hell her backstory is dragging out. 1w
Meshell1313 @Leniverse I couldn‘t agree more! Shallan is in WAY over her head though. I feel like she‘s probably a terrible actress. I loved the fight scene with Adolin. The way he writes fight scenes is insane. And how about Wit??? I love how everyone has their own interactions with him. 1w
Leniverse @Meshell1313 I love Wit as a character, but he's clearly Hoid, right? And that makes him, what, some sort of immortal galactic meddeler? A literal Deus Ex Machina? I'm not sure I like that as a concept. 6d
JacqMac @Leniverse @Meshell1313 I think Shallan is out of her element. But I‘m hoping she grows into it as she gets a little older. I really how this marriage works out. Yes, Wit is Hoid. I see him as the big God of the whole Cosmere. But I could be wrong. 6d
