Words of Radiance | Brandon Sanderson
post image

An audio copy of WORDS OF RADIANCE came in for me 12 weeks sooner than scheduled. I‘ve been listening as much as possible so I can finish it in time to also squeeze in a holiday romance before Christmas, which meant it was time to break out the Mustang puzzle I‘d been saving for a special occasion. Now that I‘ve seen 50 years of Mustangs all in one place, I can confirm the ‘69 is 100% my fave. I only wish they‘d used the orange convertible here.

I‘ve been here since the beginning, and I‘ll be here beyond the end, collecting tales from this wonderful and terrible world of water and ships and magic and ghosts.
And if you‘d like to hear another story, I‘ll have so many to tell you . . . one day.

Okay I liked the first book in this series, this one I really didn‘t, with all that happened to the main character it was a little over the top. I tried, I really tried to get to “like” but I just couldn‘t. I know this is a popular series and I‘m trying to figure out why. the abuse is over the top and there should be some type of goal…if he can‘t get to where he needs to go. I think my biggest issue is, if he‘s an assassin how is he always caught?

CoverToCoverGirl All valid questions. I‘m not a fantasy reader at all but these came highly recommended to me. I loved them and have read the first three books. Fitz‘s struggle is very real, ugly and harsh. To me it had a very medieval atmosphere, and the Wit and the Skill were just plausible enough for me buy into the storyline and I especially loved Nighteyes. As readers we can‘t like everything, even if it is a popular series. 4d
Ddzmini @CoverToCoverGirl yes I agree and I have to say there have been time were I go back and reread a book and get a whole different feel so I‘m not getting rid of the books it‘s just I‘ll have to reread them in the future and see if I change my mind on it 17h

“He smelled like the sky. He smelled the way air felt as it rushed around you, freeing and terrifying and the most beautiful f*!%&$@ thing you‘ve ever experienced.”

This book y‘all… 🖤🖤🖤 and I‘m not a fan of romance! Am I? 🫣

ChaoticMissAdventures What does the sky smell like?? LoL never in my life. What kinda sky Carrisa? Stormy? Blue? Snowy? Do they smell different, I think we need more adjectives. 5d

I am not in the majority on liking this book, yes it was a creative magic system but honestly too much , there was a whole slew of horrible themes, colonialism, racism, misogyny, and yes it‘s a reflection of society good and evil. But most of the plot except for the last few chapters is heavy, forced dialogue it was repetitive and I found myself skimming.

Never watched the tv series. Is it any good? Or is the actor playing the Witcher just smokin‘ hot?

Comic was serviceable. Not the best antihero comic I‘ve ever read but if you like the show you‘ll surely like this too.

I shoulda been paying attention to who the publisher & artist is. Reminded me much of Mike Mignola Hellboy books.

Soscha Aah, Dark Horse, that explains the aesthetic they‘re going for. Didn‘t recognize writer or artist, in which case Dark Horse wasn‘t heavily pushing the series, if it is a series. AND I guess this isn‘t so much from a tv show but a play-me gamer series? 1w
Serotonin I watched the first 2 seasons on Netflix. It was good. Season 3 was sooo boring I gave up. Not going near season 4 😆 1w
Jari-chan I couldn't even finish season one 🙈 6d
Kenyazero I might have to pick this comic up! I loved the one game I played, hated the books (they‘re a bit sexist), and enjoyed the Netflix series. To answer your question, it IS a fun series on its own, but it probably helps that people think the actor is hot. I‘m on the asexual spectrum, so that wasn‘t a major draw for me 🤭 6d
