Leniverse The shardblade clearly came from her brother. But I'm curious as to why it doesn't take ten heartbeats to summon! 10h

Leniverse I was So Worried that Shallan would make the wrong choices and end up in Sadeas' camp! I guess that could still happen, but it seems much less likely with what she now knows. Not that this was the only stressful thing about this part. Bloody hell 😅 10h

Meshell1313 Oooh her brother! Interesting! I take notes for each part so I don‘t get ahead with our discussions - the end of part 2 is crazy! I love Shallan‘s growth and keep hoping that Jasnah is alive. I‘m again like “Sanderson wouldn‘t kill her off right?” But that‘s what he does. Tortures me. And I am living for Kaladin and Shallan meeting! I was like finally! 8h

Leniverse I mean, it makes sense, right? In the flashbacks there's the brother that has a shardblade, but I don't think we've heard about him in the present timeline, so I figure he's dead, maybe in confrontation with their dad, Shallan took the blade, killed the dad, and somehow she insta-bonded with the blade. 5h

Leniverse And I wonder how the second meeting between Shallan and Kaladin will go 😂 (I keep almost writing Shaladin and Kallan and that annoys me because I don't ship those two together) 😆 5h

This month I managed to read the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, 3 Camp Litsy books, the Belladonna series and STILL my favorite of the month is yet another Brandon Sanderson #CosmereBuddyRead book. I‘m obsessed. But Onyx Storm is still on its way to being my favorite of the year. If Sanderson begins to include dragons then Yarros might be in trouble. 🤣 #readingbracket2025

My #CosmereBuddyRead peeps- I am literally screaming!!!! I had 7 hours on a round trip train ride for a quick DC trip so I accidentally finished this. Screaming. Just Wow. Pro tip- don‘t start part 5 until you are ready to read it in one sitting. I couldn‘t stop. I have sooo many thoughts and cannot wait for the ending discussion. I ❤️ Kaladin. That‘s it. It gets all the stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Leniverse I'm having the opposite problem to book one - I read this part in two days and didn't want to stop! Fortunately those two days were Sunday and Monday, so I didn't have to stop for long 😂 Looking forward to going back in this afternoon 1w

Meshell1313 Agreed! I love that it picked up right where we left off and that I couldn‘t put it down. I still have many questions about the spreen and how they come to be but I‘m ready for our story lines to converge!!! 1w

Leniverse @Meshell1313 Yes! I am looking forward to Shallan getting there. Will she get along with Adolin? Will Pattern and Syl get in a fight, since there's apparently some animosity between those two types? Will Kaladin confront Amaram, and if so who will Dalinar side with? Will Amaram's appearance lead to Kaladin deciding not to reveal his abilities to Dalinar? Hoping for answers in the next episode of Soap 😂 1w

rabbitprincess Just finished Part 1 and am both pleased and upset that there was a classic Sanderson « holy shit! » moment in this part. Pleased because he does these moments well, upset because Jasnah was killed ? Proud if Shallan for managing on her own. I liked the interlude as well because we finally get to see some of the Parshendi/listener culture. 7d

Now if we can only get an Interlude from that Herald who turned up at the end of the previous book some things might start to make sense! ? As for the "holy shit" moment I'm not sure whether to be relieved to get it out of the way or nervous about who he will kill off at the end of this book ? 7d

Leniverse I have to say I'm glad we didn't start with this series. I would have likely bailed on The Way of Kings after two or three hundred pages and never picked up another Sanderson book again 😬 But as it is, I am eager to continue the series. 2w

Happy Tuesday! This ending was so good. I can‘t wait to see where the next book takes us. That being said, how is everyone progressing? I‘m wondering if you would all like to take an extra week to catch up or should I just keep moving forward? I know this was a hard one to get into. I will leave it up to you. Meshell1313 I loved this ending also- I‘m getting very excited as it seems Kaladin & Shallan are going to meet at some point???? I‘m very excited to be with these characters for hopefully many more books! I‘m fine with whatever schedule you think is best! 3w

Leniverse I just finished part 3 so I appreciate the extra week 😅 It's definitely moving faster now, fortunately. It's been a slog. I know the next book is, by many fans, considered Sanderson's best, so I'm excited for that. 3w

Leniverse Aaand, I'm done. Wow. Can't wait for the showdown between Kaladin and Szeth. They're opposite sides of the same coin, aren't they. Szeth has abdicated all personal responsibility and calls it honour. Some massive surprises in this part. As for Talenel, I admit I thought maybe he was Odium! Being abandoned to an eternity in hell by your comrades seems like a decent villain origin story. But I guess not 😅 3w

rabbitprincess Also had the classic Sanderson « yell Holy shit! at my book » moment when Dalinar confronted Elhokar. WOW that was such a 180 from his usual self. And then his usual self manifested in saving Bridge Four! Hurray!! 2w

And there are the Sanderson twists that suck you all the way in. He still surprises me. I‘m shocked that I fell in love with this story. It really wasn‘t speaking to me in the beginning, but I‘m really glad that I kept going. This week‘s part is very short, but I‘m hoping it will give everyone some extra time to catch up.

Meshell1313 I completely agree with you! I can‘t wait to see where he goes with this in book 2. I‘m hopeful now that all of our characters will meet and be together at some point! I think Shallan‘s story surprised me the most. 1mo

Leniverse I'm not sure I'm commenting on the right post now, but I stayed up way too late last night reading part 4. I had planned on leaving some of it for today, but couldn't stop 😂 So only the really short (50 pages?) final part left now. So much action in this part! 3w

Leniverse Great character development for Kaladin and Dalinar (they are quite similar, aren't they, wallowing in their guilt) And finally some surprises. Not so much Sedeas, he was clearly a snake, but the saddle strap, Dalinar's sword, the reason why the King is so paranoid, and I have so many questions about the Parshendi! 3w

I love these new characters and am excited to be with them for many more books. As usual, I am left with more questions than answers but excited to see where he goes with this and to see more connections to the other characters! Can‘t wait for our discussion!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you‘re having trouble with this one, just keep going. I‘m all sucked in now. Part 3 is where it all turned around for me. I‘m having trouble putting it down now. I‘m loving both Kal and Shallan‘s storylines.

Meshell1313 Same!!! I‘m also trying not to predict what will happen to both of them because I know Sanderson will do what I least expect. I‘m hooked now though- am super curious to see how this ends knowing it‘s a trilogy. I‘m excited to hopefully be with Kaladin, Shallan and our guy Wit throughout the next 2 books! There‘s so much more to Kaladin‘s backstory I know we are missing! 1mo

JacqMac @Meshell1313 I‘m curious, too, but I also know he will surprise us. lol There are actually 5 Stormlight novels published and Sanderson says he has 5 more planned, so we are just beginning this journey. I hope there is a lot more Wit coming up, too. I really like him. 1mo

rabbitprincess Whew finally finished Part 3! I agree, it‘s really knitted together well now. Wondering if Szeth will be promoted to regular text rather than the interludes. Also do we have any theories about where the quotes at the beginning of each chapter come from? 3w

Leniverse @Meshell1313 I really hope Sanderson will do something unexpected soon! 720 pages and the most surprising thing has been Teft seemingly having belonged to some cult that awaits the return of the Lost Radiants. I also hope for a bit less existential angst in the rest of the book. I love both Kaladin and Shallan but they're so young and messy. 3w

Leniverse The most pressing questions I have at this point: Is Kaladin's reluctance to touch a shardblade something more than survivor's guilt? Szeth refers to the blade as a "creation of Damnation". Are Kaladin's powers the same as Szeth's? Are Shallan's? Are the creatures she's seeing Voidbringers or something else? Are Voidbringers a type of spren? Why is Jasnah so sure the lost city isn't on the shattered plains? What else are they hiding out there? 3w

Excellent questions and def after you will left with even more questions! 😂 I love your ideas about the beginnings of each chapter and there is 100% more to Kaladin‘s story that I hope we learn! I‘m also hoping all of the characters meet up at some point! I feel like their story lines have potential to converge- like each character has a piece of the puzzle maybe. 3w

Leniverse @Meshell1313 This definitely has the feel of a "if only they would talk to each other and share information" kinda story, yes. I wish Shallan had shown her drawings to Jasnah. I need Shallan, Kaladin, and Dalinar to compare visions. And for those ardents on on that little island who are doing quantum mechanic studies on spren to have a look at Sky (or maybe not if that would freeze her development) ? 3w
