Here‘s how I did on #bookspinbingo in February with the picks that were chosen. I completed a book series for #serieslove2025 and I started Assassin‘s Apprentice for #realmofelderlings but I‘m not finished yet. I don‘t know when I‘ll get finished but I‘m taking my time.

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Looking great!! 1h

Here‘s how I did on #bookspinbingo in February. I started the #realmofelderlings book but I didn‘t finish it and I didn‘t expect to. I finished 1 series for #serieslove2025, read the short stories I needed to read for #noplacelikeholmes, read my book club book and only read 1 book from my #roll100 list. I also started another #roll100 book but I didn‘t finish it.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Great month!! 1h

I originally read this book in 2019. It was and still is the only book I‘ve read by Robin Hobb. Because I read this so long ago, I didn‘t remember a thing about it! So it was like reading a new book to me. I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did last time, but this time I plan to actually continue the series.

For #weeklyfavorites, I read Sea Magick. It‘s about the ocean. It has spells, invocations, meditations and mythology. I really liked this book. This was on my #roll100 list. This week, I finished the short story from Sherlock Holmes for #noplacelikeholmes. I have 2 books in progress: Assassin‘s Apprentice for #realmofelderlings and My Healthy Noggin from my #roll100 list. It has blank journal pages and I‘m journaling along with the book.

Read4life Sounds like you‘ve got some good reading going on!! 💙🩷💙 4d

I am ready! I might read the 1990s edition as I've cracked the spine and it's already well read

I want to read the Rick Riordan books. I might split it up because it is long. Read other books in-between rather than trying to read it all at once

The first ¾ of this book are very slow and then it speeds up at the end.

It's the recollections of a royal bastard starting from when he was very young. His memories become clearer as he becomes older, though not always.

Fitz is not a reliable narrator. Whether that is deliberate or because memories are fallible. It's interesting to grow alongside him and learn what he finds value in and the people and events that shaped him.

PuddleJumper It can be confusing at times because you're being introduced to this fantasy world and its fantasy politics through a man remembering his childhood.

Author Fitz does not include much context for the reader. I liked this. It felt authentic to the narrative and I can respect a character that is more interested in their dog's wellbeing than the favour currying at court especially when said character is a child.

PuddleJumper That said, I do understand why some people find this book boring. Having re-read it for the first time in years, I think I would recommend people to start with the Liveship Traders trilogy which is much easier to get into even though they are chonky books!

PuddleJumper I totally forgot I won this from Goodreads back when giveaways were available on the UK 5d
Rachel.Rencher @PuddleJumper I started with Liveship Traders and I'm so glad I did! I'm on Royal Assassin now, but I might not have gotten this far had I not started with book 4. 5d
PuddleJumper @Rachel.Rencher Liveship Traders are some of my favourite books. I do think they are more accessible than the Farseer Trilogy, maybe more traditional fantasy. I originally read them first which got me into the series. I don't think I would have gotten through Assassin's Apprentice the first time around if it was my first book. 5d

Hobb created this world and these characters with so much love and care, that everything becomes real. This past week or so I've been living in Six Duchies, sharing in Fitz's journey from boy to man. And I'm more than ready to follow him into the next phase of his life.
If this is only the beginning I know I'm in for purely delightful adventure.

Leftcoastzen I need to try Robb , I found some at a library sale & haven‘t read one yet 5d
Enchanted_Bibliophile @Leftcoastzen you should join us for the #RealmOfElderlings read along with @PuddleJumper We've just started this month. 5d
PuddleJumper ❤️❤️ I'm looking forward to seeing the reactions to the rest of the books. It's been wonderful seeing people enjoying them 4d
PuddleJumper @Leftcoastzen March-April will be Royal Assassin. Plenty of people haven't finished or started Assassin's Apprentice. You can join in at your own pace. There's a book club on SG if you use it - https://app.thestorygraph.com/book_clubs/29999d93-0689-409b-8291-72dbf71334bf or just follow me/tag 4d

repost for @PuddleJumper:

Royal Assassin is the second book in the Farseer Trilogy #RealmofElderlings

How is everyone feeling about the series so far?

I‘ve got about 50 pages left of Assassin‘s Apprentice will hopefully get it finished this week. I‘m excited and a little intimidated by the second book. Been an age since I‘ve read anything that long and I think it‘s going to hurt but also fuck yeah my favourite character!

I‘m currently reading this book for the #realmofelderlings readalong and I haven‘t made any more progress in the book. I like what I‘ve read so far. Maybe next month, I‘ll finish this book or at least make more progress in it. It takes me a long time to read big books over 500 pages and I think all of the books in this series are over 500 pages.

PuddleJumper They do get chonky. I'm very intimidated, I'm not used to reading such long books 5d

Enchanted_Bibliophile Exited! 🤩 I still have 90 pages left of Assassin's Apprentice, but I'll definitely finish it this week. Then I have to go on a hunt for a physical copy of Royal Assassin. I have the ebook, but I'd like to have a book to do annotations in. 6d

Luke-XVX I felt like Fitz grew up far too quickly, I‘d have loved a couple of hundred more pages haha 5d
