My #Booked2023 #Monster book: a retelling of one of the English language epics, (although I learned that it wasn‘t set in England) from the perspective of the “monster,” instead of the human heroes. Mostly well written and intriguing (sometimes confusing), although it‘s been 34 years since I read Beowulf, and I‘m not going back to it! Good exploration of the pain and isolation that Grendel, who doesn‘t fit into the surrounding culture experiences.

1. I didn‘t set a numeric goal this year, but I did pretty well with challenges. I completed #pantone2023 and #booked2023 I read most of my #bookspin / #doublespin and #authoramonth books. I did abandon #roll100 fairly early, & eventually bailed on my year-long buddy reads of Clarissa & Les Miserables

2. 5⭐️ reads for December were Sing Unburied Sing and the tagged book

3. Hoping to reread Lilian Boxfish for New Year‘s

2.5/5⭐ Fed is an alternate ending for the first book in the series, Feed, in a cut-and-paste from the original, switch two names, and have one character act out of character kind of way. This AU falls flat emotionally compared to the original, though the action is still well written. #roll100 #booked2023

There was much here that I thought I would love. The scene setting in the cold, isolated alps is excellent and the build up to a closed house mystery is good and it‘s a great closed house / hotel.. but then it gets messy! Overly complicated back story of the lead feels distracting and the actual who dun it didn‘t really capture my attention. #pantone2023 and will be my mountains #booked2023 which i want to finish regardless

I don't usually read thrillers, so when I picked this up for #booked2023 I didn't expect a five start read. The novel alternates between Emily staying at an Italian villa with her best friend, and Mary who stayed in the same Villa in the 70s when one of her group was murdered. It's a great book full of twists, that never left me too stressed out.

My November #bookspin list. I'm very close to finishing two reading challenges (#booked2023 and #52bookclub23), so my focus this month is on books that will finish the last few prompts.

Ohhh, how did I not know Salem‘s Lot is a vampire story?! I do love a good vampire book and I loved King‘s version. Perfect October read! 🧛🏻‍♀️ #Pop23 ~a book published the year you were born #Booked2023 ~a modern take on a classic

3.5/5⭐ My favorite stories were the first and last ones. They hit all the right notes. Cabal making a friend who happens to be a devil was adorable. Their banter was delightful. #booked2023
