TREAT YO S(H)ELF and read this book! I legit laughed out loud at her stories. I loved her on Parks & Rec, but it's her social media that makes me a big fan. She is hysterical AF & I knew her book had to be too! Get. The. Audio! If you follow her you know she's a Hamil-maniac. There's a whole chapter on her obsession that if she wasn't so awesome you would hate her just a little bit...but not really (only after you got done being jealous. 😆)

I was happy to hang out with these teens again. I do wonder if I missed something in SvtHSA, though. I was a bit surprised how things unfolded, but in the end I enjoyed the story. The author does a great job of capturing teen angst and not making this lgbtq story read like an after school special.

Whoa...the ending alone is worth the price of admission! It's a beautiful story about love, loss, grief, family, loyalty, politics, & identity. It's multi-POV w/ the fates of 2 families entwined, & a compelling look at the competing priorities in the lives of British Muslims - a perspective I haven't read.

The movie is cute but as usual #thebookisbetter. I devoured it in 2 sittings. I would've completed it in 1 if I didn't have to live life. I loved the diversity of the characters & I loved that we got a high school love story from a perspective I never read before. It may be a little too charming & neat, but that's the curse of many romantic tales.

It starts out kind of dull but when the characters cross paths about a quarter of the way through the book, the action picks up and the story because thrilling! Thank goodness this is a trilogy! I definitely recommend listening to the audio!

I finished the PBS doc Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise. Many people commemorate this holiday with a day of service. If you can't get out to serve, educate yourself - read a book or watch a doc about the #CivilRightsMovement. I highly recommend this doc and this book! #MLKDay

This collection is set in the Bitch Planet universe but does not advance the main story. Instead we get several vignettes that world build. I'll admit it took a while to understand this world when I first started reading this series. These short episodes give me a better understanding of the BPverse. This collection is smart & made me say "DAYUM!" & "OH SHIT!" If your resistance book club is looking for a provocative & fun read, this is it.

This is a difficult read. Heartbreaking, but also really boring in parts - she was a little too heavy on policy. The book was best when she reflects on her campaign, her observations from the campaign trail. It took 5 months to finish because it was too sad or too dry, so I had to take breaks. That said, you should definitely read the book from the first woman to be a major party's nominee for President.

This is gripping, horrifying, and tragic...another shameful chapter in US history. It's an important read.
