I adore this book! It has just the right amount of scary, found family, apocalypse, thriller to it! I could talk about this book for hours!! I love analyzing characters, relationships, basically everything. I just can‘t stop thinking about it!

Finished this one over the weekend. Different than anything I‘ve read, a very interesting look at how people cope with a threat they can‘t see or understand. The pivotal scene was a little too over-the-top and unfortunately crossed the line from “terrifying” to “camp”, but overall the horror was well presented. The pacing of the story as it alternated between present and past was well done and kept the mood tense.

This is a novel that has stayed with me ever since I read it. An unseen entity causes people to develop sudden and violent suicidal tendencies just by looking at it. People flee by hiding in their homes and covering the windows. I think the best part of novels like this is their examination of humanity during extreme crisis. This was a wild read! I read it mostly on the plane (to and from TX) then some by the pool.

WOW!! I highly recommend this book. It completely blows the movie out of the water. This book seriously terrified me and I could not put it down! Complete suspense and terror and such a great ending to a tragic and terrifying story. LOVED IT!!! I‘m ordering the sequel right now 👏👏

When unknown supernatural entities take over the earth, anyone who sees them immediately ends their own life. Our protagonist, Malorie, does her best to survive while caring for her two children.

One of my favorite post-apocalyptic novels, Malorie spends much of her time blindfolded, making for a truly unique literary experience (you‘ll feel like you‘re blindfolded with her!). It‘s terrifying.

The sequel, titled MALORIE, is also wickedly great!

Holy Moley - what a compelling read. Unputdownable! I wasn‘t expecting to like it BC I did not like House at the Bottom of the Lake.

Wow! This was such a compelling read. I read the bulk of it in one day. It is so well written I could feel the fear of opening my eyes. I found myself holding my breath, trying to listen with Malorie in the boat. Far, far better than the film.

I have read more post-apocalyptic novels, but have quite a few alternate history novels on my TBR too! The tagged book is one that has really stuck with me. Other novels I enjoyed in this genre are Cormac McCarthy‘s The Road and Margaret Atwood‘s Oryx and Crake trilogy. King‘s The Stand is right up there too! This genre can be tough given the state of our world in recent years, but it continues to be a genre I enjoy as a examination of humanity.

This was FANTASTIC. I‘m certain I didn‘t take a full breath the entire time I was reading! I listened to the audio for part of book and finished with this paperback. So suspenseful!! My heart raced in parts and I just loved it.

My current listen-every single chapter is tense and riveting. I keep finding that I‘m holding my breath. I‘m about 1/3 thru and I love it so far!!

I haven‘t seen the movie either. I‘ve seen some reviews that say the movie is pretty much as good as the book…what do y‘all think?

Because I‘m a literary glutton who reads 3-4 books at a time, I also started this. It‘s been on my shelf for around 2 years now and it‘s just time I read it.

Amazing book!!! I loved the movie so I knew I‘d love the book more. Definitely heading straight to the sequel. Such a creative eerie story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Took me awhile, but finally finished this last night. I liked the mythology of the creatures, but otherwise it was a middle of the road post-apocalyptic thriller for me. I started it in March so I‘m still gonna count it for that month‘s #ReadSpooky2022 @teebe

I thought both the book and movie were entertaining.

Work got in the way and this one took a little longer then planned to complete . Brilliant read and in my opinion better then the film :) 4 and a half stars

This book was lacking something and I only cared about some of the characters.

This book had really chilling atmosphere. I didn't like how this had two timelines - jumping between different timelines felt a bit unnecessary. There were also couple illogical scenes.

Overall this was still really intriguing book and I am going to read the next one.

#Two4Tuesday

1. For me, its the Goldilocks effect, where I don‘t want the plot to be too slow to the point where I‘m bored out of my mind, or too fast to where I can‘t keep up.

2. The tagged book is a great, unique horror story that I was really invested in.

I started this book yesterday and could not sleep until the last page was read. It was fast paced and so good. I have seen the movie so I knew what was going to happen, and still couldn‘t put it down. Perfect for a rainy October day!

This was a great read, the story really grows on you towards the end as the story wraps up and the pieces fall into place. I don't think I'll be reading the second book that follows this one, this was a book that can stand on its own. Enjoyable, had some dystopian elements. I couldn't put this down! It had all the thrills, chills, horror & suspense I was looking for! From the premise to the execution, this story had me hooked!
Different enough from the movie to feel fresh. The situation is absolutely terrifying & you can't help cheering for the MC despite her prickly personality. This is horror done right! Seriously, I lost sleep over this one (because I stayed up too late reading)! Must. Read. Sequel. Immediately.

Wow! 5 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 This was a deep dive rollercoaster ride. Make sure you have your safety blanket all cuddle up in, when you read this novel. Excellent suspense, and horror. I'm not any kind of horror expert. But I've read my share. I've read Stoker, Poe, Jackson. When I was in high school and college, Dean Koontz, Peter Straub, Anne Rice (does she count as horror?). I've read probably more than half of Stephen King.

Bird Box is the scariest book I've ever read. I'd put this one in the freezer if it weren't on my Kindle.

Ok, what is up with the movie adaption of this making so many changes?! Strange. Book was better/more realistic. I liked the switching timelines and it wasn't hard to follow. I do tend to think authors stretch imagination when there is that one moment when all the pivotal things happen. Coincidental, no? Lol then again life can be/feel like that.
Not a read if you're still feeling covid isolated, altho maybe like for me, it helps silver line it.

This was a good read but my expectations being too high left me slightly disappointed (I expected to be terrified and wasn‘t). Still a pretty good read and definitely suspenseful!

A #pageturner like no other. Propelled through the story of Malorie and her two children, I finished this book in less than 24 hours. Even though I knew the ending, having watched the movie, the story was still enjoyable. It‘s always interesting to see how a text has been adapted onto the screen. I have to say, the novel is darker than the movie but I couldn‘t put it down.
