According to Julia Cameron, I'm not the only one resistant to Artist's Dates. Hoping for inspiration (or at least more direction), I checked this book out on Libby. It's a quick read, and it did give me more ideas. More interestingly, it helped me see that I already routinely do things that I never considered Artist's Dates, like getting a massage or going to a park or baking a treat. So, yay me, I guess?

#HaikuADay #HaikuHive

Yesterday‘s haiku was inspired by my night in my stark little room at the dojo. It was a cool (not cold, it‘s Hawaii) blustery night with the rain hitting against the window invoking a cozy, comforting feeling.

Rain pounds the window
Drops shine, diamonds in the night
Cozy in my room

Pickpick

A short little book on creativity I picked up at a John Cleese presentation of the 50th anniversary of Monty Pythons Holy Grail. I met John Cleese once prior to this. A very friendly man. This is a little gem of insightfulness.

Eh, it was OK.
Mostly positive mindset stuff, and none of it in any particular depth. It's like a big plate of aperitifs to pick and choose from, but with nothing substantial enough to really get your teeth into.
Also, I don't care what her woke credentials are, blithely asking (rhetorically, I presume) "Can you afford NOT to do therapy?" is financially obtuse at best and, arguably, ableist.
Two valuable things I took away from it ?

quietlycuriouskate These are common obstacles not personal failings. Also, the idea that we are not responsible for our first thought, but we are responsible for our second thought and our first action. 3mo

The Artist's Way | Julia Cameron
post image

Spending this #HyggeHour making my Week 1 plan for my Artist‘s Way journey. Back-to-school vibes have got me to recommitting to the course. I started it last year, but didn‘t get through it. I have a better sense of what to expect now, and gave my perfectionist side a stern talking-to, so I‘m ready to jump in and play!

TheBookHippie ♥️ Best of luck!!! 3mo
