I think I only read Moonflower once this year, but without that book, I never would have discovered the Ruthless Desires series and what would I has spent all those hours doing this year?!

There are QUITE a few dirty books in this bracket!!! I even had to switch two books around (wild card vs Feb) just so that I could give all of the books a proper chance. This book was dirty (sooo dirty) but also really philosophical, so it appealed on so many levels. (I hope we get a book for the youngest Bell brother, too… just saying.)

pickI had no idea this was Sir Terry‘s last book before he died. That is insane. I was not prepared for that note at the end. The story itself was another wonderful tale of Tiffany Aching, witch. I wish he were still alive and writing more stories of her, but I‘m so glad we have the 5 he did get to write.

There has been a bit of a gap here, as my gallbladder is currently trying to take me out. I‘m feeling a bit better at the moment and enjoying some Pratchett. I have an appt with surgery tomorrow, so we‘ll see how that turns out when we get there. Enjoying some tea and oatmeal/porridge now with this nice wintry story, with a blizzard outside.

I have this one another shot, thinking I might like it better in a different phase of life. NOPE. 7 minutes of my life reminding me why I don‘t read this one annually. I suppose 7 minutes isn‘t so bad every few years, once or twice a decade, as a reminder isn‘t so bad.
I couldn‘t sleep last night, I so enjoyed my yearly reread of this lovely little short story.
pickI loved all the twin jokes! It was great to see the twins still in college. I can‘t believe they ended up where they did, but I love the beauty of this story. This is probably tied with The Pussy Upstairs for my favourite of the series. I‘m ready for the next book in January.

panThis may have once been groundbreaking, but it has not aged well. It is certainly not as universal as she assumes. It is highly gender normative, making it stunningly uncomfortable. The writing is repetitive and annoying. The tone is arrogant and snobby. This needs a serious update and attitude adjustment to keep any of the promises of its reputation.
I‘m really struggling with this one and it is 100% me and not the book. I read The Ravine first, and I am still caught up on the BEAUTIFUL work of scholarship that is, that this just isn‘t hitting for me. To be honest, he‘s doing really intriguing and unique scholarship as well, but the scholarship is not his point (and I‘m really wishing it was). His scholarship literally couldn‘t be done today, so my desire for more info is that much stronger.
pickThis is such a cute, short story. Perfect for cold winter night, too. I absolutely adored getting to know Mama Kingman. All of her kids and her husband talk so lovingly about her, but it was awesome getting to know her a little myself. Bridger was JUST like his boys in this one. In fact, this might be the funniest part of the series (so far at least), just from Bridger‘s metal commentary. I knew I loved that big teddy bear, Coach Kingman! 🤣😂🤣
Definitely in the mood for something more like this right now. If the Kingmans can‘t help me escape football Sundays, I don‘t know who can.

OH HERE WE GO!!! Anytime someone writes about sacred sexuality, they always get weird with it. I‘m either laughing or cringing, and sitting here thinking… yeah no. I‘m already getting ‘yeah no‘ vibes from this book, so this is just going to be… 🤣😂🤦🏻♀️… bloodily brilliant. I think I‘m going to have to take a minute before diving into this chapter… at least until I stop laughing about the title of the chapter.
pickThis one is darker than the others, for sure. I liked that they started communicating with each other earlier in this one. The neighbour kid‘s snake sneaking into his house all the time and freaking him out was hilarious! This story runs congruent with the last book, and it‘s cool to see some of the same scenes from different perspectives.

pickI may have liked this one more than the first one, which I was absolutely not expecting. The amazing narration of Jacob Morgan really cranked it up a notch. Another narrator I love voices the next brother in the next book, so I may just love them even more as we go! Cute story, and I love how Amy Award gets around/abandons the whole “the couple must break up at 80% of the book.”
