Started a new audio book today while I do some Christmas baking! This was a recommendation from someone. Excited to see where the storyline goes!

Can‘t believe I waited so long to read this!!! I haven‘t read a book this fast in a looonnngggg time and now I must have the second one!! If you love fantasy, this is a must read. It‘s been around for a long time but if you have been putting it off, don‘t wait! As I wait for book two to arrive I‘m trying to choose one of the books in the background. My reading bug is back! 📚
Sunday night football and reading. My fiancé and I picked books for each other to read so we would read something outside of our norm and I must say this is definitely out of my norm! I have so many questions about the cartel and I literally have to stop after every few pages and ask him cartel history questions! ? Needless to say we are having lots of book conversation! Anyone else read this or other Don Winslow books?
Loving this on audiobook!!!! Definitely recommend especially if you like fantasy. The third book in the series comes out in 4 days, so I‘m looking forward to lots of audiobooking 😁 What are you listening to?
Trying to get back to doing what I love which is reading but it is a daily struggle with all of life‘s activities. I started this Friday and I must say I am truly loving it. When you guys are busy how do you make time to read?
Moving on to book two in the Empirium Trilogy. I found a copy at Ollie‘s for $2.99!!!! I really enjoyed the first one and am looking forward to where the story will continue to go. For those of you who have read this, who is your favorite character?
A little Friday night reading while watching the kids basketball practice! What are you reading tonight?
It‘s been a long time since I have posted here(over 3 years) and a long time since I have been able to read! This morning I had some time and grabbed a book off the shelf and it completely captured me! Reading made me think about all my Litsy friends so here I am!
I need some help! My Christmas break begins today! I passed Nursing 3 with flying colors, only 1 more semester until graduation!! I must say I am even more happy to get a chance to do some pleasure reading. I‘m ready to escape into a fantasy world!!! I want to read a series over my month break but can‘t decide which one.....what do you all think? What series gets your vote?
Hi Long Lost Litsy friends! I miss you all! My nursing school is consuming me but today I just had to share my excitement of this release with you guys!!!! After my exam today I could hardly wait to go purchase this book! This will be the first book I have read in MONTHS for pleasure! It‘s the final book in The Folk of the Air Series! Holly Black is one of my favorite authors of all time! Who else is super excited about this book???
Book #10 in the Modern Mrs Darcy Must Read mystery list! This book is the start of the inspector Gamache series which is great! I read this last summer at the beach and fell in love with the town of Three Pines. In this one a woman is found dead in the woods. Locals believe it was a hunting accident but Gamache expects there is more to it then that. It‘s a wonderful first novel to a series which will leave you wanting more!
Soo sooo sooo good! I have been flying thru this series. Two books in 6 days is fast for me and a sign that these books are FABULOUS! Etta/Eddy is a strong character and I was routing for her the entire book! In a world where things are hard and cruel she goes above and beyond to do what‘s right. This book shows differences in all kinds of people that leaves you with an open mind. I‘m headed to get the third before I go away this weekend!
Book #9 in the Modern Mrs Darcy Must Read mystery list. Toby is attacked by two burglars and left for dead. He heads to his uncles cabin to recover and rest. All is well until he discovers a skull in the garden leaving Tony questioning everything he knew about his family and himself. This novel of Tana French‘s is one of her only stand alones.
#8 in the Modern Mrs Darcy Must Read mystery list! The 3rd book in the Dublin Murder Squad Series which follow detective Frank Mackey. When Frank tries to run away with his girl Rosie, she never shows up the night they are supposed to leave. He never went home but neither did Rosie and 22 years later her suitcase is found behind a fireplace in an abandoned house where it all began. Frank does on an unauthorized investigation! Sounds really good!
Book #7 in the Modern Mrs Darcy Must read mystery list! This is apart of the Dublin Murder Squad Series with detective Cassie Maddaux. In this book Cassie is investigating a murder or a girl who looks exactly like she does and even more creepy uses an alias that Cassie used in a previous case. Her boss talks her into solving the case my impersonating the victim. Ahhh! This thriller will keep you guessing until the end!
Book #6 on Modern Mrs Darcy‘s Must Read mystery list! Half way thru the list! The final Atkinson book on the list and said to be a great one! This is another Jackson Brodie mystery. In Big Sky he discovers a human trafficking network and learns how far back the devastating crimes actually go. This is one you will continue to flip the pages reading until justice is served! This is getting released on June 18, just a few more days! Who‘s excited?
Book #5 in Modern Mrs Darcy‘s Must Read mystery list! Another Kate Atkinson story that is set during WWII. An 18 year old girl name Juliet is searching for a job and is surprised to find herself plunged into a world of espionage. Her past seems to chase her and threaten the life she tries to make years after the war. It takes a few chapters to get oriented but after that you won‘t want to put it down! Atkinson is a fantastic writer!
Book #4 of the Modern Mrs Darcy Must Read mystery list! This is a first book in the Jackson Brodie series. I am familiar with the author but havent heard of this series either. Lots of great new books for my TBR! This story follows three separate cases that the private investigator is trying to solve. The links between the three will stun you!! Definitely a must read! Any fans of this series?
Book #3 of Modern Mrs Darcy‘s Must Read mystery list! This is the first of the Lord Peter Wimsey series where he find a dead body in a bathtub! I can‘t even imagine. This series is said to be one of a kind, something all readers should at least read once. It is so popular that it was made into a radio series, a tv series, and has been republished several times with many different covers. The audiobooks are said to be delightful as well!
Book #2 in the Must Read mystery blog from Modern Mrs Darcy. This is another Lord Peter Wimsey mystery that takes place at Oxford University. When Harriet Vane, Alma Mater, is incited back to college to attend the annual Gaudy celebrations someone starts to send poison pen letters and performing other malicious acts toward her. She calls in Lord Peter Wimsey to help her figure out what‘s going on. These are also a tv series!
The blog post today from @annebogel aka Modern Mrs Darcy grabbed my attention. It is about mysteries that keep you turning the page and when you get to the revealing part you look back and think, “How in the world did the author do that!”Then you start to see the important clues that you read all along not realizing they were important. I ADORE books like that! She shared 12 books that fit this category and I thought I would share them with you 👇🏾
The babysitters club series impacted my life as a preteen and teenager. It even inspired me to start my own babysitting service in my local community. My mom saved this flyer I had made to invited other gals to join my club! I used this is my speech the other day! Isn‘t that funny!! Some of my other favorite books during this time were The Boxcar Children, Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High, Beverly Cleary and Goosebumps. Such great memories!!!
I am taking an effective speaking class right now and for my first speech we had to write an informative speech that describes something about our life. I picked how books influenced me as a child, a preteen and teenager, and how they continue to impact me today. I shared some of my favorite books from each part of my life and this was one of my favorites from my childhood. Also Berenstan Bears, George and Martha(Hippos), Spot, and Curious George.
Also snagged this at the library this morning! It is a lot thicker than I thought it would be. Definitely the longest of the four so far. I‘m not sure where this is going to go after the ending of Morning Star. I have heard it‘s a lot different than the other ones but I‘m anxious to find out for myself. I also checked out the audiobook so I can listen in the car and when I‘m out walking. Another fabulous #SeriesRead I‘m looking forward to!
This came in sooner than I thought it would and I‘m so stoked! I flew thru the first book in 3 days and can‘t wait to see what journey this book is going to lead me on! Unlike the first book where the main character was a midwife, Etta is a scavenger who tries to save the lives of women and children who have been taken by brutal slave traders after the great plague that wiped away the world of almost all women and children! Can‘t wait! #SeriesRead
Just finished this tonight, whoa! It just kept getting crazier and crazier and that ending had me like WHAT?!? I have fallen in love with these characters and this world. I have enjoyed all three books in the series so far. I‘m not sure which one is my favorite. I really wish they would make this into a tv series. That would be AWESOME!!! Want to read the fourth book before the 5th one comes out on July 30th! Who‘s excited?? #SeriesRead
This book was soooo good!! I didn‘t realize it was a part of a series. I originally read it bc it is our June book club pick but I flew thru it in 3 days and already have the next two on hold at the library. It is a dystopian sci-fi book. It is partially told thru a series of journal entries which I always enjoy. It tells the story of a midwifes survival journey when most of the world is killed and only few women are left. 5⭐️ #SeriesRead
I found this on the book sale rack at the library today for a dollar. This is a book I have seen ALOT of here on Litsy and have heard many of you say nothing but good things about it so I grabbed it today! Can‘t beat a dollar. “A sweeping historical sage that traces five generations of fiercely powerful mothers and daughters-witches whose magical inheritance is both a dangerous threat and an extraordinary gift.” This is going to be a good one!
This is another book I picked up today that was a book club selection. I am catching up on books from February until June because nursing school got in the way of my reading! I haven‘t read anything by Michael Chabon but I have heard wonderful things about his writing. This is a story of a sheltered son of a Jewish mobster. “It‘s a coming of age story that will make you feel good and also take you by surprise” Considered a Modern Classic.
Picked up this graphic novel that I had on hold at the library. It took a little while for it to come. This was picked for my online book club that I‘m looking forward to reading. It has tons of recipes in it but is a memoir written in graphic novel form. On thing I love about our book club is that I get to read of a lot of things I wouldn‘t have otherwise even known about. Has anyone read this already or even heard of it?
This is our book club pick for July!! @Sarz I am looking forward to reading this! This is a story of woman who survives a plague that wipes out mankind in a matter of weeks. There are 10 men for every woman that survives so this story is about how this woman survives in a world which can be evil and unfair. I‘m looking forward to this read! How many of you have already read this one?
@Cinfhen I finally finished our #buddyread tonight! I really enjoyed it. It gave me a lot to think about. I thought it was a real life story with relatable characters. If you havent read this I would definitely recommend it!The except at the end from her other book The Almost Moon was also good! It left me curious! Have you read that by chance? Or her memoir Lucky that she talked about? I didn‘t know the author had similar life events to this book!
Happy to have picked up a few new books at the library yesterday! This was a book club pick a few months ago that I am having to catch up on because of the business of life and school! I love my book club and always enjoy the books our group picks so I wouldn‘t miss out of one for the world!! Anyone read this one??
😂😂😂😂😂Oh Sevro, you crack me up!!!! This book and series brings all the emotions, tears, laughter, shock, anxiety, more laughter and tears! I am enjoying this ALOT!!!!
This chapter right here just wrecked me!!!! Oh I‘m so torn up right now! Crying my eyes out! 😭😭 It‘s been awhile since I have cried like this over a book! “I will die with my friends.”
I got some #LitsyLove mail this week! Getting #Litsymail always brightens my day! I‘m looking forward to having the time to reply and write to those of you who wrote me months ago! @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I love the book card that you sent me!!!! Where did you find those? We need to catch up! Can‘t believe your “baby” graduated! 🥳 @LokiDokey I loved the card! I‘m looking forward to getting to know you! We have some of the same book interests!
Here I go.....I haven‘t read a series so fast in such a long time! Looking forward to continuing the adventure and escaping reality for a little while! #SeriesRead commences!
Finished book #2 in my Red Rising #SeriesRead this morning! My head is twirling! My weekend is done for, I must read on! There is no stopping me! The ending to Golden Son ripped me apart!! I haven‘t been able to put these down so when I can‘t physically read I have been listening to the audiobook! I put the next book on hold on audio so I have a feeling I‘m going to be using an audible credit! I can‘t wait for a hold even if I am next in line! 😂
I just found out that The Goldfinch is coming out as a movie in September!!! Yay!!! I love when books get made into movies. I hope the movie will be just as good as the book. What movie/ tv series adaptions of a book are some of your favorites? I must say I love Outlander!
Having to read this for the effective speaking class I am taking! This is my first out of 3 summer classes! It‘s not terrible but I‘m not reading it for pleasure. I rather be reading my other books! I did learn today tho that “public speaking was an Olympic event where the winner received an olive wreath and was paraded through his town like a hero.” Most all jobs now a-days require some sort of public speaking. Gotta love general ed requirements!
I just discovered there are Red Rising Funko Pop characters!!!! Ahhhhhhhh!! The one in this picture is Sevro who is very quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. He is a true friend to Darrow and I can‘t wait to see where this adventure leads them to next since they are officially partners in crime now! 😉
I have the second book ready to dive into! And the third is sitting on my shelf just in case I fly thru this in a day or two. I‘m so excited to continue on. I love the feeling when you escape into book worlds and just “live” there for a little while. When characters become friends. What book worlds have you enjoyed escaping to? #SeriesRead
My reread of this proved to be better than the first time I read it! The audiobook wasn‘t going fast enough for me so I pulled out my paperback and finished the book this morning! I‘m looking forward to finishing this series now that I have had a refresher. What will happen to Darrow, Mustang, Cassius, Sevro, The Sons of Ares, Darrow‘s Family. So many questions. I think this would make a good TV series, wonder if that will ever happen!? #SeriesRead
I have been listening to Red Rising on audio as a refresher since it‘s been awhile since I last read it and there is so many things I had forgotten, like Titus and Sevro. I also forgot how much I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. I‘m looking forward to reading the rest of the series! Pierce brown is an amazing author(and also very cute😂)! Are there any other Red Rising lovers? If you haven‘t read this and enjoy sci-fi, check this out!
For all my Gail Carriger lovers, she released this book yesterday. Has anyone read it already? It has aliens, murder, and romance. I fell in love with Carriger when I read her Soulless series! I‘m looking forward to reading her latest book! 📚
Found this at the library while visiting my family in Delaware this week. Good find for a dollar!! I have seen and heard good things about this book but am curious to know what my #LitsyFamily thinks of it. I enjoy Barbara Kingsolver. I loved The Poisonwood Bible ALOT!!!! If you haven‘t read that one you should. The audiobook of it is good as well or at least I thought so. Do you have a favorite Kingsolver book?
One of my 2019 reading goals is to finish books in a series that I have already started. I enjoyed the first book of this series so much!!! I‘m relistening to it on audio before I move on to book #2 because I know there is a lot that I have already forgotten. If you are into sci-fi you will love this. What series have you started that you need to finish?? I love a good series so fill me in on your favorites! #SeriesRead
So The Essex Serpent is going to have to wait till I get home. I have to concentrate a little more when I‘m reading it and the trampoline park is distracting me so I decided to dive into this instead and it has immediately grasped my attention! This is a buddy read from @Cinfhen !!! I think I am going to like this one Cindy!! I‘m looking forward to this one! ❤️📚
Starting my summer catch up reading!!! So stinkin excited! Brought the kids to the trampoline park to bounce. While they bounce I am just relaxin and reading! What are you all reading on this beautiful Saturday??
