I'm behind on #riseupreads. It took me a bit to get my hands on this book, only to discover my mom owns it. 🫠 This was an interesting book, but some of the history was not new to me. I appreciated the lesser known stories about non-white women the most. While this is a pick for me, it ultimately made me want to read books from the Indigenous perspective. I'm going to read An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States next.

This was an interesting book and really good on audio. I‘m glad it was picked for this month. This book is about clinical depression and trauma, with fairytale whimsy swirled in.

DebinHawaii …My favorites of the month were The Frozen River, Nettle and Bone, Kills Well With Others, Not That Bad, All Systems Read & Pride and Prejudice (reread for the zillionth time) & The Great Gatsby (hadn‘t read since high school) was a surprise winner.
