I find the spelling of names in here to be rather annoying. The premise of Eadlyn making a deal with her Dad about the selection is like mythologies. Even after we spent so much time with America and Maxon, I don‘t get a sense of their personalities anymore. Called it immediately that she would like Kile. Hate and love are never far off in any love story.
The story did grow on me as it went along, but it didn‘t grab me like the first three.

The heroine is the daughter of the couple from the previous books. What a bratty bitch! I don‘t like her but she‘s a nice change from the doormats in the earlier books.

Engulfed this book in 3 hours because it‘s just that addicting!!! Getting to see Maxon and America as parents is even more beautiful than seeing them as kids. I really like the self-doubt parts (so relatable!!) and how lovely of a family they have. This selection seems more fun and chill (loved!! ⚾️), even if the guys are way more volatile. Except 50% of them are pure cinnamon rolls!! NEVER WANT THESE BOOKS TO END!!!

4✨I like this YA series and we have a super fast forward in time to our selection winners children. The oldest Eadlyn will be the queen one day, but there are problems in the kingdom. To offshoot this they hold the first female selection. Eadlyn is not comfortable expressing her feelings so she is ridiculed as cold and in-feeling in some of her eliminations, but she also has some suitors that slipped through the cracks that put her in danger!

I‘m going to try to do 20 hours for the #20in4 this weekend. I‘m almost done with the tagged and the Dear America book. Hoping that I can power through with a busy weekend. @Andrew65

The main character from the last three books had children. This book is about their oldest, Eadlyn. She is having a selection of her own and hates the idea of it; she just wants to get it over with. Thinking she won't fall in love, I think she will.

Not my favorite but still really good. Listened to the audiobook and I like the narrator better than the one for The Selection.

I am loving this book so far. Kile and Ahren are my favourite characters. Ahren is a protective older brother who cares about his sister and he is a kind hearted brother. He also is the most trustworthy person in this book.Kile is a book worm and is very sarcastic. He makes amazing jokes and is all around a funny guy.

Day 9
If you follow me on GR, you already know The Selection series is one of my guilty pleasure reads & my feelings on this particular book. I was so invested I preordered the signed copy. I loved America as a character & Eadlyn did not make a good impression. In my opinion, the series should have stayed a trilogy.

Maybe will do a #giveaway for this at some point in time.

Boy Eadalyn was a hard character to like. I get she was unhappy about this whole selection thing but the way she treated others was thoughtless, impulsive, reactionary, and often just unkind. How are we supposed to believe this is a person who anyone would believe would make a good queen.

I was intrigued by this twist on the Selection, reversing genders. I love Eadlyn. She is deeply flawed, yet she grows slowly. Hopefully, that will also be the case in the next book. My one complaint so far, as for the rest of the series, is how long it takes to get to a resolution. I thought this would be a one-book addition, to then find out there was another one!

Princess Eadlyn is a self-centered, entitled brat. Or, as Hermione would put it, she has the emotional range of a teaspoon. When told she would have to take part in a selection to appease her nation, she fights her parents practically every step of the way. The most enjoyable scenes in this book were those of her interacting with her parents, my favorite characters from the last book, or when she finally shows a bit more character... ⬇

vkois88 but that cliff hanger ending? Idk if I can wait 2 weeks to get the last book. I'll have to console myself with all the novellas in the meantime! 3.5/4🌟 Purely based on my disdain for the Princess throughout the first 2/3 of the book! 5y
LA_Mead I‘m with you on that one...I just didn‘t like this new character that much 5y
vkois88 @LA_Mead it's so disappointing since I loved the others so much... and especially bc it's hard to picture such a brat coming from those two people! 5y

8/10 Book 4 of 5, well written but not as good as the first three in my opinion. Possibly due to the perspective shift, it feels harder to like the characters and their interests/interactions. Still, it's worth reading, would be good for a summer beach read.

I‘ve just fallen in love with this series. Despite knowing how things would end with America and Prince Maxon from the get go, Kiera Cass kept my attention to see things through to the end just so I could... well yes... *sigh... starting this book, I wasn‘t sure I would be invested in Princess Eadlyn, but I will say I loved her... watching her realize her faults and short comings was fabulous. Can‘t wait to start The Crown

“35 suitors. 1 princess. A new selection has begun”

I found this book in the series to be so-so. This book takes place twenty years after the last book took place. Now it is America‘s and Macon‘s daughter, Eadlyn‘s turn to go through the Selection. I found Eadlyn to be bratty, but did like her at times independent nature. Let‘s see how the series ends.

I can't remember the last time I have loved a series as much as this one! I loved getting to know Eadlyn and seeing her start the whole selection process and trying to find true love like her parents have even thou she doesn't want too. I can't believe I only have one more book left. I don't want the series to end!

crazyspine I have read this series; my students are obsessed. 6y
RenePenn I also only have the last book left and have enjoyed the series. I am listening to The Queen which is the first companion novella to the series. The audio version of this one is hard to listen to - I think I‘d rather read it. 6y

I loved the Selection. I listened to the series years ago. I came across The Heir and thought I‘d give it a try. It‘s a decent listen. I just didn‘t like it as much as the story that came before it. I find Eadlyn a lot less likable as an MC than her mother (America) was. It does give her a LOT of room for growth. The ending was a cliffhanger. I decided to pick up book 2 to see where the story goes next.
