The Lost Husband: A Novel | Katherine Center

Pickpick

#Read2025 I‘ve been under the impression that Katherine Center is a writer of rom-coms. Of course, I‘ve only read one other book by her and, while it was promoted as a rom-com, it still touched on some very serious topics. This book is not a rom-com. It begins with some sad things, some sad things happen in the middle, and the ending leaves questions about what will happen next. It ends on a hopeful note and I enjoyed this book. Recommended.

3rd book finished for #Read2025 #JumpStart2025

Really enjoyed this book and kept me reading into the early hours. A story told through a succession of New Year‘s Eve‘s, alongside a current timeline leading up to a New Year. A very strong pick for me.

Strangely Amy Silver is the pseudonym for Rachel Hawkins (or vice versa). I‘ve loved both these style of books by her, but not really enjoyed the books written in the name of Rachel Hawkins.

DieAReader 🎉🎉On a nice roll! 10h

2nd book finished for #Read2025 #JumpStart2025

This was an audiobook read by the actress, and also author of the book. Personally this was meh from me. Okay but that‘s about it. The story never seemed to go much anyplace and struggled to maintain my interest or concentration.

Lizpixie They can‘t all be classics I suppose🤷🏻‍♀️Nice job though👏👏👏 11h
Andrew65 @Lizpixie No I agree, you win some you lose some. It was only a library audiobook so nothing lost other than time. Thanks 😊 11h

While I did think the pacing in this one was off, I think it might be my favourite of the series so far. The last 1/3 or so felt rushed - and I would have like a little more time with Bart's return, Kelley's crisis, and the wedding. I really liked Margaret in this installment and the growth that Jennifer, Ava, and Kevin showed was really lovely to read. I don't think we've seen the end of Jennifer's problems, though.

I didn't like this one quite as much as I liked Winter Street. Mitzi really got on my nerves and Ava's love triangle felt too similar to last year's story but with the gentlemen swapped. But I did really enjoy Margaret & Drake's romance and while I wouldn't say I enjoyed Jennifer's storyline, it was one of the more compelling arcs. I am eager to pick up the next one so that I can see what happens there and what happens with Bart.

marleed For all Elon‘s Nantucket beach reads, it the Winter Street series I like best. 1d
janeycanuck @marleed I‘ve been really enjoying it! I wish they were a bit longer, they can feel rushed with so many characters to follow. I‘m hoping the last book is as satisfying as the first 3. 1d

Since last night I‘ve knocked these two off 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ the third book, Winter Storms, is the weakest link. It furthers the story along a bit. But Winter Solstice has had me crying in my coffee, tea and Diet Coke! The rabbit hole was worth it ❤️❤️❤️

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!
