I stayed with this book for the entertainment, and the story was fun! I liked the growth but really disliked the characters‘ beliefs and the stupid writing of an accent — A PET PEEVE! It sounded like Caleb was a pirate more than anything. Overall, still a fun read + just what you expect. No depth here
Enjoyable!!! Not sure if it‘s bc I got the audio book that some parts felt clunky. And don‘t even get me started on the 🌶️ feeling awk. Overall, I loved the creative plot but it was a bit confusing. Actually enjoyed the writing style, very Donna Tart in its wordiness
Wow! It truly changed my mind! I didn‘t like Doe at first and thought the story wasn‘t for me. But it really developed into something amazing! I don‘t get why Doe + Three hate each other; she was looking for control and so angry/sad. But her growth and shifted focus? LOVE. Characters were good too! Wells 🥰 plus good parents throughout! Love to see it
😍😍 love!!! Wyn was well deep into her trust issues, but I really enjoyed their story and all the tension between her and Three. The side characters were also all important and well-developed. 👍🏼 from me
At this point, I do it to myself ✋🏼 same dramatic characters and random storyline
A great concept and they had some cute moments, but I had a hard time believing they were head-over-heels. Pretty one-note characters, sadly. But fun!
So far a so-so because WHY DOES EVERYONE JUST KEEP REPEATING EACH OTHER??!?!?!
Like “This is the book” “THIS is the book?” “This is the BOOK!”
Just annoying. But I‘m thinking this is gonna be a good story so not gonna bail yet
🤩 This beautiful story was so much fun! Their chemistry felt so familiar, all while still adding a new take and new, modern ways for them to connect 🚤 I also really liked her family, finally fleshed out and capable in their own ways, v chaotic good 🥰 another win for these authors!
Not for me!! V graphic in a trying to be funny way, but it was just gross. Both sexually and violently explicit, including some of my least favorite 🌶️ language. Wasn‘t my type!
A super sweet (though unexpected sequel after all these years) conclusion to these great characters! I loved the depiction of trauma and mental health, and their perseverance for each other is just 👌🏼🤌🏼
🤷🏻♀️ Ali Hazelwood has been losing me lately. Same STEM and competitive women vs men trust issues with 🌶️ galore. Just feels overdone and like the main characters have to constantly miscommunicate and argue. Not for me ✋🏼
🩷 a great one!! Beautiful development along with healthy thinking! Emma Lord has done her own internal work & you can tell from the characters‘ deep (and relatable) reflections. I just wish there was a little growth outside the grief, but in my mind she gets there next year 😉 Also MILO AND HIS FAMILY > 🥰
🤷🏻♀️ didn‘t like the characters too much. They just were clueless or unrealistic, and every man (except Derek + his friends) was misogynistic and aggressive. The story was okay
🥰🥹 one of my favs from CL! This was such a fun book. I wasn‘t Anna‘s biggest fan at the beginning & thought it was so great to have the dual perspective because I really enjoyed Liam. At the end, they were perfect together and completely stole my heart. Another win!
The jumping timeline was confusing at first, but interesting. It was the music references and lyrics that had me lost. And the relationships aren‘t the best, even though I could feel Asher‘s love. Why did the thing at the penultimate chapter even happen?? It‘s just so much back and forth. Well written, but not my fav.
Starting to check out about 25% in just because I only like Asher as a character 😅 Summer is getting on my nerves and Garrett completely sucks. Maggie is ok. But ugh she needs better people in her life
Fun but lost in all the details. Could tell this wasn‘t Emily Henry‘s genre to thrive in. But entertaining, nonetheless
This book was BRUTAL!!!! I felt like I couldn‘t breathe with the fights and the blood and tragedy. Amazing story, heartbreaking sacrifices. Love this beautiful family
Loved the story of triumph! At first, the perspective shift wasn‘t my favorite decision, but I LOVED seeing Cassian + Nesta find compassion, strength, and each other. A little *too* 🌶️ at times, though. But seeing how far everyone has come definitely brought some happy tears at the end!
Lynn Painter - my favorite author!!! She is a master at chemistry and real, cravable dialogue. I wish I had a friendship like this. What a fun, creative story & super cute characters!!! Another win!
Ugh I‘m sorry to say that I‘m bored with this book ☹️ it really seemed cute and cool, and I liked their dialogue/chemistry but it felt like it was going nowhere. Really slow paced and just not what I was looking for
🥹🥹🥹🥹 this felt like a breather. I caught myself thinking, “are they really just celebrating Christmas right now??” A nice transition between books and conclusion to a big, big storyline. Even though nothing really happens, it made me crave winter. And after that tense last book, I welcomed it
I‘m going to BLOW UP!!!!! THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 how is everything we thought we knew a lie???!! This author masters suspense & emotions in an incredible way; you‘re truly inside of her head, feeling everything she‘s feeling. NOBODY SPEAK TO ME I CANT EVEN
WOW! Didn‘t expect such a bloodbath! Confusing at times because of all the characters and long-winded descriptions. But I really really enjoyed this!!! Is it wrong that I‘m in love with everyone?? 🥵 I don‘t know what I want to happen, but I‘m INVESTED
Okay. At first, I hated this book! The characters were toxic, the relationship was annoying, the story was stupid. But midway, it TRULY shifts. Almost *too much* to the point where it feels like separate people & the beginning toxicity felt added to be “edgy.” I really loved them at the end, and I loved the growth experienced. Even though I spent half the book rolling my eyes — by the end, my heart was fuzzy
😍 so cute! Predictable & short & easy to get through. Kind of just what you‘re looking for to get out of a slump
Cute!!! I liked their dynamic so much! Though the main could be v dense at times.
Another win for Emily Henry! I loved the personal growth journeys and their chemistry. They both had really relatable (almost called me out a few times 👀) dilemmas, and it was nice to see them work through them! Wasn‘t perfect, but it was v good + fluffy
Can‘t believe I bailed on Ali Hazelwood!!! 😭 It just felt like the same plot generated story. As much as I LIVE for her books, once you‘ve read a couple, you really have read them all. Also, her friend was so annoying and just pushed it to being a total no from me
It was ok! They had cute chemistry + the cheesy “stuck in an elevator” was expectedly cheesy. But most of the plot was one big misunderstanding that ended up being super ??? Why won‘t they just talk to each other instead of interrupting each other and just looking away, “you know what you did” pouting? *sigh*
Fun! Love the chess and enemies-to-lovers. Well written and great dialogue
Cute! I liked their chemistry and support and the consistency, but I also got confused by all the characters who did nothing for the story. It was just meh
There was something icky about the way he spoke to her that I couldn‘t take as a joke. Too many sexist and stereotypical underlying comments and thoughts, even from the main character. Not my thing 👎🏼
I really love this author‘s books, but this one was a miss for me 😔 just didn‘t have the tone that her usual style does
Lost interest and got slightly confused while reading. It seemed to jump around and the plot kind of became an afterthought for me
Jean Meltzer‘s characters are so easy to fall for! Loved reading a book that blended sex positivity and religion. The chronic illness representation was also top notch. Overall a sweet story (pun wasn‘t intended but now it is!)
I‘m telling myself the only reason I bailed was because it was an audiobook. It was hard to feel the pull for this book, though I‘ll probably try again in the future. Had to bail
Felt the same as Lovelight Farms: difficult to catch on to and connect with. So many people with a lot to follow, and the skipping around plus flashbacks also got confusing
Lowen was another unreliable narrator: why did she intentionally get pregnant with someone she kept saying she couldn‘t be with? Her attachment to him was creepy, + really fueled by the manuscript. She stayed with him + hid the evidence “so it didnt hurt him” but casually ignored that he attempted murder TWICE? Lowen also let Crew lick the knife + any time she was alone with him, something bad happened. Why?? There was so much more going on here
WTH!!!! I am completely creeped out right now! As someone who usually doesn‘t enjoy Colleen Hoover, I thought she excelled at the suspense and character work here. Verity was a rollercoaster, and you‘ll never really know the truth of what happened. All these characters were SO messed up and made questionable decisions. Also, I believe, an unreliable narrator (details under a spoiler review)
Tbh not my fav. Pointless people & not Christmassy at all! Clueless main character. But their friendship was cute & 🌶️ was ok! Not crazy about it
🙄 The main is so self centered and judgy that it made it difficult to enjoy the story. She finds out the big *news* and she immediately gets mad at Scott and kicks him out? For a secret that isn‘t his? It really wasn‘t healthy. They set boundaries and she would be the first to tease that they cross them, and then immediately pull back and say she didn‘t want this and victimize herself. Also just constantly talking bad about others. Not a fan
Was way more into the book when it focused on their fake relationship. Except the spice, which felt forced and awkward. I felt myself bored with the rest of it + really disliking Nina + her friends. So much that it made the story drag on and feel like one massive eye roll. Leo had some nice qualities (I really liked his focus on mental health) but otherwise, his family was my favorite part. Left a lot to be desired. The puns were on point tho!
About half way through so far & I‘m loving the chemistry & dates! However, if these two MF-ers say “I couldn‘t help but wonder what it meant” when the other shows affection ONE MORE TIME 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I‘m gonna call the book cops! How could you be so CLUELESS?! Miscommunication is not cute!!!
Couldn‘t get into it :( really wanted to give this one a try
Such a cute one!! I liked their friendship so much & seeing them both rise from the toxicity they had been exposed to was 👌🏼 they‘re practicing real communication?? Therapy?! A+
🩷🥹 swoooning! Had a few thoughts while reading (too much emphasis on her job, too many fights, oh these two *hate, hate* each other) but I loved them & every decision! It wasn‘t a typical enemies to lovers; there was actually substance + discord. They also didn‘t resolve their decades of arguments in one swoop. It felt real and honest and healthy! The clones were also really funny & cute
It was ok! I blitzed through most of it and had a hard time caring too much. I like how we got a slice of the loop, but how does the whole entire book take place in ONE DAY?! Also, thankful there were so many good people in their lives
