Ugh I‘m sorry to say that I‘m bored with this book ☹️ it really seemed cute and cool, and I liked their dialogue/chemistry but it felt like it was going nowhere. Really slow paced and just not what I was looking for

Playing hooky for a bit of self care after a long week.
A little different contemporary romance!
The story was so amusing and made me feel good, despite a little level of angst and the heroine's self-doubts.
There's a delightful plot, intense chemistry and the show instead of tell made the romance so much more enjoyable.

I thought I would like this book. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment! Way too political for me. I get enough politics in the real world and read to escape it only to have it flung in face in a book! Ugh!!! Didn't care for the characters either. I should have bailed on this but instead tortured myself. One good thing, this was a library book so no money out of my pocket. 2⭐️
“Logan and I fell in love while we were also learning to love ourselves. So for us, it was more a discovery that we were where we belonged all along. We didn't have to change. We just had to open our eyes to see it."
When I was very nearly asleep and the world was warm and hazy, I felt him kiss my temple softly. Then he whispered, so faint it was barely more than a breath, "Whatever it takes, let me keep her."
I kissed Logan for all I was worth—which was so much, as he had tried so many times to tell me.
“If there‘s one thing I‘ve learned, it's that people have to come to things in their own time. You had to change your relationship with yourself before you ever would've been happy with someone else, even Logan. And really, when people love each other, things have a way of working out. You can trust me. I'm your big sister."
I experimented with lifting their expectations off my shoulders, ignoring the voices that said “Lee this” or “You should really” or “People will be disappointed.” Without the voices, there was nothing left but me. Was it really meant to be this easy? Was I really supposed to think about what would make me happy, and simply listen to the answer?
“All this stuff is terrifying, you know? Caring about someone is such a risk. We shove our hearts in their hands and all we can do is hope they don't crush us. I'm an artist. I make things. I like control. Love is the opposite.”
This is a light political rom com about an elementary school librarian who chooses to be adventurous one night and meets a charming grump. They have a great time but a random fire prevents a one night stand. It turns out he is a gubernatorial candidate and they are photographed leaving the hotel. A deal is made to fake date and a fun story progresses. There is nothing super new here, but the characters are likable and it was just fun. 4⭐️
Ashley Winstead never lets me down! Having a brother named Logan didn't get in the way of me falling for the main love interest named Logan in this tension-filled escape (which is a testament to Ashley's craft). Smart, substantial, steamy, relatable...I had so much fun with this.

Whether she‘s writing a thriller or a romance, I get wholly wrapped up in Ashley Winstead‘s books. I‘m in awe of her versatility and originality! The chemistry between Alexis and Logan made my heart flutter and the sentiments of self-love, self-validation, and listening to people‘s actions spoke to my soul. I can‘t wait to read whatever she comes up with next!
I think I checked out approximately at the 60% mark. The romance is too slow a burn, there is an unnecessary love triangle thrown in, and there is so much politics that it majorly takes away from the romance story (what little there is). Also, in the early chapters I really loved Alexis but as the story progressed, she became really annoying. I‘m mad I spent good money on this. I need to start borrowing from my library again. ☹️
Boyfriend Candidate by takes you behind the scenes of the insanity of the political life and all the chaos in between that it takes to create the perfect optics in the name of winning.
There was some pretty annoying miscommunication in this contemporary romance but it doesn‘t even matter because I loved Logan and Alexis so much. These characters are so good together. The banter is funny and there is a ton of chemistry right from the start. Definitely a pick. Digital ARC through #netgalley.
This was a slow, slow, burn, full of misunderstandings and unsaid things. Logan, a gubernatorial candidate, is caught in a compromising position with Alexis, an elementary school librarian. To save his campaign from scandal, they agree to fake date until the election was over. Of course, feelings developed as they do, and this ended on a sweet note. I liked Logan, but found Alexis to be hard to deal with.
