1. I don't have a favorite meal. I have favorite drinks and snacks. Pumpkin cream cold brews, those peanut taffy candy, pumpkin flavored everything 😋
2. Tagged. I remember the librarian reading these before Halloween when I was in elementary school.

Here is my #HauntedShelf Recommendation...the book that I suggest everyone read! This one is a classic and everyone I know has read it at least once...but I re-read it every Halloween and it holds a special place on my bookshelf.

tdrosebud Question about the points. It says 10 pts per hour and then 10 pts per readathon. Should that will be 10 pts per hour per readathon instead or is there a separation? 1mo
BookwormAHN @tdrosebud The way I read it and I'll check but it was an extra 10pts if it was in a Readathon. 1mo
BookwormAHN @tdrosebud I just asked and you're right back in Scarathlon it was done another way but this time it's the way you said. 1mo
tdrosebud So 10 pts. per hour for each readathon. Thanks for checking and the clarification! 1mo

#Dark #MayMontage A few years ago I went searching for THE dark, creepy story that‘s lurked in the corners of my imagination for years, & found this. It seems a whole generation of kids was traumatized by the same story & they first read it here, & now the internet is filled with info about it. The newest piece I saw is about replacing the sublime but terrifying artwork for more kid appropriate illustrations. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Our new scary stories to tell in the dark episode is out. We take a walk down memory lane and muse on the cathartic aspects of a good horror story. Also, Peter comes face to face with his neuroses.

We took a trip back to our childhoods this week, as we read Alvin Schwartz's classic horror collection “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.“ We discuss what makes a story scary and what kind of stories scare us the most. In addition, we praise the artwork of Stephen Gammell, read aloud selections, and more. Also, please let us know what your favorite story is from the collection. Enjoy!

My husband wanted to watch Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I actually enjoyed how they adapted this to the books. My husband is not a reader, so he of course doesn't even remember the books and had nothing to compare it to, but he really seemed to enjoy it.

This is a free watch on one of my bingo cards.

Short story collections are the way to go to grab points! Perhaps next year we can give points for participating in October swaps, too? We are sending scary books to our swap buddies, after all. :)🎃🧛🏻👻🧙🏻‍♀️☠️ @StayCurious #scarathlon #teamhendrix

1. This is one I‘ve had since I was a kid. And I remember it freaking me out. 😂
2. I think multiple authors for spooky stories. It‘s always interesting to see different takes on what is scary for a variety of people.
3. The Girl With the Yellow Ribbon. I couldn‘t wear necklaces for a month after I heard that story!

It‘s been years since I‘ve read Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. But after reading the Goosebumps Retro Collection I‘ve been craving all of the nostalgic things. I figure I would remember a few of the stories, but I didn‘t. 😅 So it was like reading the whole thing over again. But I still enjoyed it.

Shocktober Film # 17: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

I've never read the books so I was pleasantly surprised to find this was pretty creepy. I would've loved it if there was a bit more of an aging treatment on the film for a more 1968 feel, but a strong film for the spooky season.
