suvata @sblbooks I kind of forgot about this series. I started it several years ago and then just lost track. Thanks for reminding me that I should pick it up where I left off. 1y
suvata @sblbooks I thought this one was great too. Much different than what I have expected. 1y
suvata @sblbooks Agreed. This series is some of the best sci-fi that I‘ve had the pleasure of reading. 1y

BarbaraJean Oh, this is a great idea. I'll have to look at what my favorites are so far. I started a list recently, but I can't find it now!

And: I love Matilda!! That was the first book I remember being aware of as a new release. I was in 5th or 6th grade and I was so excited that my favorite author had a new book out!

In true procrastination form, I'm finally declaring my top 25 reads of 2020. The year wasn't good for much else, but my reading certainly didn't suffer. Most surprising was what took the top spot: this is the first time I've had a non-fiction #1 pick. Carolyn Forché's 'What You Have Heard Is True' is unlike any memoir I've ever read. It was a strong year for non-fiction reads overall, in spite of my craving for fictional escapes more than ever.

batsy Ooh! Great list. Yay Bunny, Bloody Chamber, Fever Dream, Jane Eyre, My Name is Red! 4y

This was incredibly hard, so I decided to just go with my top 3 reads so far in 2020 😉 Thanks for the tag @batsy 😘

1. The Notebook Trilogy by Agota Kristof
2. The Handmaid‘s Tale by Margaret Atwood
3. The one and only Harry Potter (started a reread during this pandemic)

#Favs

batsy Both 1 and 2 are on my TBR! Harry Potter is such a comfort read 💜 5y
MySharonaK The notebook is such a crazy book. You finish it looking like this: 😮 5y
hilded @MySharonaK Yeah, it was crazy. I didn‘t know that much about it before diving in, it completely surprised me. Not like anything I‘ve read before! I had to start book 2 immediately. 5y
See All 15 Comments
hilded @batsy Then you have some gems coming your way 💜 The Notebook trilogy is such an underestimated book/series. Kristof truly deserves more praise. I didn‘t know of its exsistence until some clever publisher here decided they wanted to make a new and modern translation last year, I sincerely thank him for that. 5y
batsy @hilded I'm looking forward to giving it the attention it deserves 🙂 I too hadn't heard about the series until I read about it on twitter. 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘ve never read HP 🙈 5y
eeclayton @hilded @batsy I read the first book in the trilogy. It was really good but it was also so intense that I couldn't get myself to continue. 5y
MySharonaK @hilded me too! I‘ve read all three on the same day cause I had to! I think I can still say it‘s one of the most surprising and different books I‘ve ever read. 5y
hilded @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Oh, wow - really?!? Then you have some magical hours ahead of you if you ever decide to read it 🤩🙌🏻 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I love the Notebook ❤️❤️❤️ 5y
hilded @eeclayton It was truly intense indeed. @MySharonaK I couldn‘t stop reading either, it was like a trainwreck, just had to keep going. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve been so engrossed in a book. I haven‘t read number 3 yet, the new translation is being released later this year. But I‘m very close to cave in and just borrow the old translation at the library. 5y
MySharonaK @hilded oh I can‘t wait to hear what you think of the third! I think you‘re going to be 😮 after the third one as well 5y
hilded @MySharonaK Hope I get some answers in addition to this face 😯, lol. I will let you know as soon as I finish it! 5y
hilded @MySharonaK Hi! Long time since we had this conversation, but just wanted to let you know I finally read the last one in the trilogy. And you were right, I did indeed end up with this face 😯, lol. Magnificent series as a whole for sure, even though the first caught me most ‘off guard‘. 4y
MySharonaK @hilded thank you for writing about it I‘m so happy you got to finish the trilogy! I agree with you about the first one, honestly I still think about those books and it‘s been ages since I‘ve read them ❤️ 4y

rachelk I love Shadow of the Wind! I‘ll have to look into 7y
SilversReviews @Amabear Great story line, setting, characters. 7y
SilversReviews @rachelk 😍 The Forgotten Garden isn't the same as Shadow in terms of subject, but it is really good. All of her books are good. 7y
Jess7 Yes - I love Kate Morton! I have only read #TheLakeHouse so far, but her writing is truly beautiful! 7y
SilversReviews @Jess7 It is. Loved The Lake House too. 7y

1. Prefer print
2. Bed
3. Chocolate or crackers
4. No more than 2-3 books at once
5. Night. I‘ve conditioned myself to read to fall asleep

1. Print or ebook. I can‘t concentrate on audiobooks.
2. Couch, on the left side
3. Tea, and I often read while eating my meals
4. Mostly one, but not always
5. All the time!

CassiM Hahaha ☺ I can't do audiobooks either for the same reason! And certainly not while doing other things. 😯 7y

monalyisha I have a new/rediscovered obsession with chocolate milk. Omg. I went to this Airbnb in Vermont & there was local, farm-fresh chocolate milk waiting for me in the fridge & ever since then I‘ve been on a quest to find a glass that good again... 7y

Copying from @Cinfhen my fav 17 of 17 (unless I read a great one in the next 4 days 😁) not in any particular order because I‘d be there forever....

Cinfhen Such a great list!!! I took a screenshot because I haven't read all your choices and want to get suggestions....like I need to add more books 🙄 7y
Cinfhen How many are chunkys??? 7y
Cinfhen I can eliminate those!😘 7y

TrishB @Cinfhen 😂 I think you can probably rule out Wrath and Assassin‘s Fate as they‘re massive and last in a fantasy series so not to be read without others first! Not sure you‘re a SKing fan? Sleeping Beauties is big and La Belle Sauvage is - but again you would have to read others first. I‘m always adding to my lists.... 7y
batsy Great list, so many that I want to read 👍 7y
Kalalalatja I see a lot of my favourites on that list 👏👏 7y
ElishaLovesBooks Looks like a great list! I‘ve only read two- A List of Cages and Pachinko and loved them both! 7y
Andrew65 A great list. 7y
