Little Women, Volume 1
Little Women, Volume 1 | Louisa May Alcott
Now a major motion picture starring Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Timothe Chalamet, and Meryl Streep! Discover Louisa May Alcott's enchanting tale of the March sisters for yourself with this beautiful keepsake edition of Little Women! The quintessential American story, Little Women captured readers' hearts right from the start. A bestseller from the time it was originally published in 1868, it is the tale of the March sisters: Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy. The four girls couldn't be more different, but with their father fighting in the Civil War and their mother supporting the family, the sisters will have to rely on each other as they grow up and grow together, experiencing love, loss, and the importance of family. Louisa May Alcott recreates her own family's dramatic, comic, and sometimes tragic experiences in this heartfelt novel that has been celebrated and shared for generations--and this unabridged edition will continue to be shared for years to come.

I'm not sure why I own three copies of this book, since I've only just read it for the first time. I loved it. I expected to, but I loved it for all the ways it wasn't quite what I expected. Poor Amy gets a bad rap in the movie adaptations, but she ended up being a favorite of mine by the end. Of course, I loved them all and cried several times.

It's always awesome when an author has used some of their close ones as models for characters: they feel so realistic. It was delightful to read.

It's amazing to imagine how this book was a contemporary when published and gives us now a view to that time period.

I enjoyed this more than the first part, maybe because characters were older or maybe the author had been better between these books.

Next up which sadly I didn't get to at Christmas as planned.I've never read this before, I've seen the Wynonna Ryder and Greta Gerwig movie productions and finally decided to read the book. After reading the forward I find myself annoyed that Louisa May Alcott's father was friends with Emerson and Thoreau, I was under the impression she started from dirt poor nothing. Alas she had some major white privilege going

I like to read Little Women this time of year because of the Christmas scenes. I still love this book but it did grate on me this read that the women were doing just fine but when the men came home from wherever they were they felt the need to lecture #FreeJo

Finally reading this one! I really want to see the new movie and figure I should read the book first. This is a very old copy that was my grandmother's and has illustrations. I don't know the copyright date because it appears to be in Roman numerals. 🤣

TheAromaofBooks Those Roman numerals get tricky when there are like 8 of them in a row!! 😂 4y

Can you believe I‘d never read this before? Growing up I always heard about it as a great book about sisters, which didn‘t feel relevant to me. Anyway, now that I‘ve read it I can see why it‘s a classic, although I was not expecting how overtly preachy it is!

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how is this book so good?!?!? I somehow didn't read it until I was an adult, so this is only my second time visiting it, but it's just perfection. I'm so happy there's a bildungsroman prompt because this was revolutionary when it was written for showing girls growing up. #teamamy

I finished this one a few days ago! It's a wonderful book and I still can't believe it was written in the 1860s. It did not feel much outdated and the characters are very relatable and lovable! No wonder this is a classic.

I finally got to see Little Women today and I LOVED it! It was so well done. It stays true to the text in many ways but also offers some updates that suit the characters and the moment. It's one of the best literary adaptations I've seen in ages. Greta Gerwig is a genius!
It's made me want to re-read the book. In part so I can appreciate the original text again AND so I can better understand how she re-imagined it. Seriously, so good!
